Tumors of the UUT are rare and usually presenting as micro- or macrohematuria either symptomatic or asymptomatic. Rapid advances in CT technology accelerated the research into the application of this new technology in the evaluation of the UUT and readily proved to be superior to other imaging modalities. Nevertheless the increase in radiation dose is a major issue of concern. Initial research into the utility of MRI in the evaluation of the UUT was promising, yet the success of CT together with the cost, limited availability and the longer duration of MR urography (MRU) examination, nearly halted the investigations into the feasibility of MRU which is unfortunate as MRU is a safe alternative to CT.

This study is investigating the effects of a new hormone treatment for breast cancer called Irosustat. Seventy percent of breast cancers in post-menopausal wome rely on oestrogen to grow therefore are likely to respond to hormone therapy. Irosustat blocks a different pathway of steroid synthesis to Aromatase, reducing in this way oestrogen levels in the body. As less oestrogen reaches the breast cancer, it grows more slowly or stops growing altogether. IPET will recruit postmenopausal women with early, hormone sensitive, treatment naive breast cancer will receive 40mg of Irosustat once daily for 2 weeks. The effects of Irosustat on breast cancer will be evaluated by PET scans (Positron Emission Tomography) using a radioactive substance called FLT as a tracer. The scans will be performed in a PET-CT scanner which combines a PET scan and a CT scan (Computer Tomography) into one scan. This type of scan can show how body tissues are working, as well as what they look like. FLT-PET scans will be performed before and following treatment with Irosustat. As cancer cells grow faster than the normal cells around them, they will take up more of the radioactive substance, and so stand out clearly on the scan. If Irosustat is slowing down the cancer growth, the cancer will take up less of the tracer. Blood samples will be taken at regular intervals to assess what the new drug does to the body and the safety and tolerability of Irosustat will be assessed. The study incorporates translation aspects/endpoints which are based on the collection of tumour biopsies before and after treatment with Irosustat although the later biopsy is not mandatory.

Recent studies have suggested that individuals diagnosed with colon cancer who are inactive and/or overweight, may have poorer survival outcomes. Exercise training has been shown to improve fitness and body composition in other cancer survivor groups. The investigators hypothesize that an exercise training program will be a safe, feasible, and effective intervention to improve the fitness and body composition of a group of colon cancer survivors.

Prostate cancer, with more than 70,000 new cases and 8900 deaths a year in France, is a major public health problem. Until 28% of patients treated with surgery will present a positive surgical margin resulting in an incomplete clearance of the tumoral process and exposing so the patient at a local, systemic recurrence and increased morbidity. An increasing number of international publications have shown (ICG) was interesting for the detection of the sentinel lymph node, in the surgery of tumors of type hepatocarcinoma and liver metastases from colorectal diseases, but also in the surgery of the kidney, bladder or breast. ICG has affinity for tumor and tissues around the tumor related to micro-vascular histology for a localized and specific deposit (EPR effect). The detection of ICG 's deposits is now possible with to the use of a device which allow to visualize the infra-red fluorescence (NIR; Near Infra-Red) for objects larger than 0.15 mm. Thanks to this feature, the location of residual tumor tissue when performing a radical prostatectomy could be made much easier.

A major focus of research in oncology is to identify patients who, following induction therapy, have a complete pathologic response, presenting opportunities for novel trials, including extended therapy or non-operative approaches, in addition to identifying cohorts who are resistant to the neoadjuvant therapy. The current gold standard for determining response to CRT is pathological evaluation following surgical resection, in particular the Mandard Tumour Regression Grade (TRG) or some modification thereof. At this time, however, there is no preclinical early response or post-treatment biomarker, nor endoscopic or radiologic assessment that predicts pathologic response prior to surgical resection.The aim of this study is to determine the accuracy of CT-PET for prediction of histopathologic response and/or oncologic outcome for patients with esophageal cancer.

This is the first study where BAY1238097 is given to humans. Impact of the study is to evaluate if patients with advanced cancer show clinical benefit under the treatment with BET(Bromodomain and extraterminal domain family ) inhibitor.Patients with solid tumors (all comers) and lymphoma will receive the study drug treatment in an escalation scheme (no placebo group) to determine the safety, tolerability and maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of BAY1238097. the relative bioavailability of Liquid Service Formulation and tablets will be determined After MTD is defined, patients with solid tumors (all comer, hepato cellular carcinoma, lung cancer, NUT(nuclear protein in testis)-midline carcinoma), melanoma and lymphoma will be enrolled A separate escalation scheme will be applied to patients with leucemias, and at the maximal tolerated dose, patients with AML amd multiple myeloma will be enrolled. the study will also assess the pharmacokinetics, biomarker status, pharmacodynamic parameters of BAY1238097 and tumor response to the treatment. BAY1238097 will be given twice weekly as oral application. Treatment will be stopped if the tumor continues to grow, if side effects occur, wich the patient cannot tolerate or if the patient decides to withdraw from the treatment.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of ankle foot orthoses (AFOs) on the spatial and temporal gait parameters, electromyography (EMG), walking endurance, and quality of life in select individuals living with MS. The hypotheses of the study are: 1. Individuals who are fit with an AFO will demonstrate improvements in spatial and temporal gait parameters 2. Individuals who are fit with an AFO will demonstrate improvements in walking endurance. 3. Individuals who are fit with an AFO will demonstrate improvements in muscle firing profiles/EMG measures. 4. Individuals who are fit with an AFO will demonstrate improvements in quality of life.

Pulse pressure variation (PPV) is a well-known and widely used dynamic preload indicator based on heart-lung interaction to predict fluid responsiveness. Generally, patients are considered to be fluid-responsive when the PPV value larger than 11-13%. However, several previous researches demonstrated that there is a zone of uncertainty (grey zone) in PPV. To predict fluid-responsiveness accurately in the patients with PPV within grey zone (9-13%), the investigators would evaluate the augmented PPV using augmented ventilation.

The purpose of this study is to learn more about symptoms and gastrointestinal lesions associated with taking myfortic® by switching patients to a delayed release formulation that is developed to alleviate GI symptoms. A comparison of the frequency and severity of GI symptoms observed in patients treated with MMF (cellcept®) after conversion to myfortic® will be measured by using a self-assessed questionnaire called Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS). To prove the incidence and improvement of GI lesions in patients treated with MMF (cellcept®) after conversion to myfortic® will be measured by using Small Bowel Capsule Endoscopy (SBCE).

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a specialised nuclear medicine procedure that uses positron emitting radiolabeled tracer molecules to measure biological activity. The most common of these radiolabeled tracers is 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG), which is used to determine abnormal glucose metabolism in tumours and other sites. It has general applications in all areas where abnormal glucose metabolism may be present including in circumstances such as differentiating the tumour from scar tissue; evaluating the presence of the tumour in light of rising tumour markers and normal morphological imaging techniques; and assessing response to therapy where other techniques are deemed to be unhelpful. The Cross Cancer Institute has recently been funded to establish a PET centre, and this study will evaluate the effectiveness, value and safety of PET scanning in a number of uncommon cancers in the Canadian health care environment.

The causes of failing nutrition status in advanced cancer are not well known. The way fat is moved, stored, burned or changed into other compounds may be affected and will be followed in patients using a tracer and other blood tests. The investigators hypothesize that fat loss and wasting results from low essential fatty acid availability in the body. Changes may occur in the liver that limits distribution and availability of fat to the body as an energy source or for other essential functions.

Well-documented health benefits may be achieved through prophylactic screening for cardiovascular disease. The advantages are fewer premature deaths and a reduction in the number of hospital admissions and amputations. Furthermore, hospitals will benefit from the derived reduction in the pressure on surgery and intensive care capacities at vascular surgery departments. It therefore seems extremely relevant to offer joint screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and hypertension, even if the benefit and costs of such a measure are not currently known. Consequently, the primary objective of the study is to establish the effect and cost-efficiency of a joint circulation screening programme for 40,000 men aged 65-74 years in a randomised, clinically controlled study. The project manager will train six nurses to measure ABI and perform ultrasound scans of the aorta. The nurses form three teams which will each be equipped with a portable Doppler, blood pressure cuff and portable ultrasound scanner. Each team will operate from the hospitals in the Region. Civil registration number (in Danish: CPR), name and address information will be supplied by the Clinical Epidemiological Department (CED), which will also perform the randomisation in groups of approx. 1,000 to avoid too long a period from data extraction to invitation. Half of the randomised subjects will be invited to participate in a circulation examination focused on PAD, AAA and hypertension, while the other half will be controls Men with positive findings are informed and proper preventive actions is taken. Annual controls are offered, and AAA exceeding 5.5 cm in diameter is offered operation. The primary efficiency variables are death, cardiovascular death and AAA-death. The secondary efficiency variables are hospital services related to cardiovascular conditions and costs for such services in accordance with current DRG rates. The entire population, the controls as well as the screening group, will be monitored for a period of 10 years. Information concerning deaths, including date of death, is obtained from the Civil Registration System, information on visits to outpatient clinics and hospital admissions caused by cardiovascular conditions including amputations is obtained from the National Patient Registry. From the Danish Causes of Death Registry information on cause of death is collected. The information is classified with regards to cause; AAA or cardiovascular. The cardiovascular interventions are identified in the vascular surgery database (Karbasen). Major follow-up is performed at 3, 5 and 10 years. A steering and data validation group will be formed including the project manager and a representative from the Clinical Epidemiology Department. Furthermore, a vascular surgeon from each of the two affected departments in the region will participate. Total mortality, cardiovascular and AAA-related mortality and initial cardiovascular hospital service are compared for the two groups using Cox proportional hazards-regression analysis which facilitates description of the risk ratio. The cost-efficiency calculation will be adjusted for quality of life.
