NCT00026156
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of vinorelbine followed by docetaxel in treating patients who have advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00004011
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known if surgery plus combination chemotherapy is more effective than surgery alone for non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of surgery with or without combination chemotherapy in treating patients who have non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00722605
The purpose of this study is to use cone-beam CT scans to more accurately position the tumor during radiation and to see whether this method is more effective than the standard method of using 2D images (portal images), which is a type of X-ray. Cone-beam CT is a type of CT scanner attached to the treatment accelerator that produces 3D images of the patient. The ability to eliminate the tumor with radiation depends in part on the accuracy of delivering the radiation to the lung. The position of the tumor changes because of normal breathing. Therefore, we want to improve the accuracy of the way the radiation is delivered to the tumor. With cone-beam CT scans taken before and during your treatment, we will be able to determine the location of the tumor with 3D images, measure how much the tumor moves as you breathe, and then position you so that the tumor will get the best delivery of radiation.
NCT00002930
RATIONALE: Imaging procedures, such as fludeoxyglucose F 18 positron emission tomography (PET) scans, may improve the ability to detect lung and esophageal cancer or their recurrence. PURPOSE: Phase II/III trial to study the effectiveness of fludeoxyglucose F 18 PET scans in measuring response to induction chemotherapy in patients with esophageal and lung cancer that may be removed by surgery.
NCT00059943
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well docetaxel works in treating older patients with metastatic breast, lung, or prostate cancer.
NCT00085839
The purpose of this noncomparative study is to obtain preliminary estimates of the efficacy of erlotinib and standard chemotherapy in patients with advanced, previously untreated nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status (PS) of 2. The study will also evaluate the safety of single-agent erlotinib in this patient population.
NCT00050960
This study evaluates the use of Targretin capsules (bexarotene) in combination with standard chemotherapy for the treatment of metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) in patients who have not yet received chemotherapy for their lung cancer.
NCT01052766
In this particular study the physicians want to use a new technique of how they obtain the PET/CT pictures. It is called breath-hold (BH) PET/CT". As the name suggests, they will ask the patient to hold their breath for about 20-30 seconds, and only during that time will they obtain pictures. This is repeated several times. In contrast to the standard PET/CT scan, they expect less "blurring" of the pictures, so that they can see the tumor better and measure the uptake of radioactive sugar in the tumor better and more reliably. Basically, this is the difference between taking pictures of a runner as compared to taking pictures of a person standing still. Since PET images need to be obtained over several minutes and people can not hold their breath for this extended time, we break the procedure into several cycles of 20-30 seconds (or longer, if possible) and then add all the "frozen" pictures in the end into one. They want to know if BH PET/CT scan measure changes in the cancer during therapy (i.e., from the baseline scan before therapy to the follow up scan at within 4 weeks later).
NCT00581724
The purpose of this study is to find out about the pain and quality of life of individuals who are adult cancer survivors. By quality of life, we mean how you are feeling about different aspects of your life, including your physical health, your emotional health, and your ability to carry out daily activities. We are interested in people's opinions about their quality of life, as well as the factors that affect their quality of life. In addition, learning about pain will help us to develop new services for adult cancer survivors.
NCT00451880
The purpose of this study is to determine the safest dose of the multiple Raf kinase inhibitor (including c-Raf, B-Raf, and the activated mutant B-RafV600E) XL281, how often it should be taken, and how well subjects with cancer tolerate XL281. This study will also determine how the body reacts to XL281 when it is taken with and without food, and with and without Pepcid (famotidine), a drug that inhibits stomach acid production.
NCT00012103
RATIONALE: Imaging procedures such as computed tomography may improve the ability to detect lung cancer earlier. PURPOSE: Screening and diagnostic study of computed tomography in women who are at risk for lung cancer.
NCT00372775
This study will evaluate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of SU011248 in patients with non-small cell lung cancer with brain metastases.
NCT00431015
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety, tolerability and maximum tolerated dose of IPI-504 in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The study will examine how IPI-504 is absorbed, distributed, metabolized and eliminated by the body. The study will also evaluate the anti-tumor activity of IPI-504.
NCT00085501
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as cetuximab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Combining more than one chemotherapy drug with a monoclonal antibody may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether cetuximab is more effective when given at the same time as chemotherapy or following chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well giving cetuximab at the same time as combination chemotherapy works compared to giving cetuximab after combination chemotherapy in treating patients with stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00343291
The primary objective of this study will be to determine the progression free survival of patients with stage IIIb/IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with dual agent monoclonal antibody therapy consisting of cetuximab and bevacizumab in combination with two different regimens of paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy.
NCT00517595
The primary objective is to determine the progression free survival with pemetrexed, and gemcitabine plus bevacizumab as first-line chemotherapy in elderly patients with Stage IIIB/IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The secondary objectives are to determine the overall response rate; overall survival; chemotherapy induced toxicity profile of this combination; time to progression; and patient reported symptom burden.
NCT00085813
This study was designed to determine how effective and safe Ispinesib is in treating locally advanced or metastatic Non-small Cell Lung cancer in patients who have received a platinum-based chemotherapy and whose disease continues to progress. Treatment involves a 1-hr treatment given intravenously (IV), repeated once every 21 days. A patient may continue treatment as long as they are benefiting from the treatment. Blood samples will be taken at specific times over 24 hr period to measure the amount of drug in your body at specific times after the drug is given. Blood samples will also be taken for routine lab tests such as complete blood counts and clinical chemistries. Physical exams will be performed before each treatment.
NCT00193453
This purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of gemcitabine and docetaxel, a well tolerated chemotherapy regimen in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), in combination with a novel agent cetuximab.
