NCT01467466
The purpose of this research study is to compare the effectiveness of intravenous isotonic sodium bicarbonate with intravenous isotonic sodium chloride and oral N-acetylcysteine (NAC) with oral placebo for the prevention of serious adverse outcomes following angiographic procedures in high-risk patients.
NCT01804816
Acupuncture treatment may improve the cardiac function and the quality of life in heart failure patients. These effects may be related to the inhibition of sympathetic activity and/or increased vagal function. The suppression of inflammatory reaction with acupuncture treatment may also be associated with these outcomes. Specific aims include: 1. To evaluate the effect of acupuncture treatment on human cardiac sympathetic/vagal activity 2. To evaluate the effect of acupuncture treatment on cardiac function and functional capacity 3. To evaluate the general health score of the quality-of-life with acupuncture treatment 4. To explore the mechanism of acupuncture treatment on inflammation and nitrative stress in heart failure patients.
NCT02016430
Our group has recently identified the association between gut-flora-mediated carnitine and phosphatidylcholine metabolism, specifically trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO), and cardiovascular risk. This study investigates the ability for dietary intervention to modulate TMAO levels.
NCT05932615
The objective of ENVISION is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Navitor Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) System for treating patients with symptomatic, severe native aortic stenosis who are considered intermediate or low risk for surgical mortality. The trial will also evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Navitor TAVI System in a valve-in-valve (ViV) application in patients with symptomatic heart disease due to failure of a surgical or transcatheter bioprosthetic aortic valve who are at high or greater surgical risk.
NCT06387355
Peripheral artery disease, lack or blood flow to the legs, has a high prevalence in the Veteran population. In patients with severe peripheral artery disease that requires an endovascular or surgical intervention for lower leg revascularization, the long-term mortality of approximately 50% is worse that most cancers. The goal of this study is to develop a management strategy to improve cardiovascular outcomes in this high-risk peripheral artery disease population after lower extremity revascularization.
NCT06291922
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effects of a home-based exercise program using mobile technology on physical activity and capacity, frailty and muscle mass, and quality of life in patients with a newly implanted HeartMate 3 left ventricular assist device (HM3 LVAD). Researchers will compare the effects of an exercise intervention vs. usual care on physical activity and capacity, frailty and muscle mass, and quality of life.
NCT05924802
The study is aimed to phenotype with cardiac MRI the physiological effects of ketone esters on the heart. Patients with heart failure will be recruited and given ketone esters or placebo in a randomized fashion. Cardiac MRI will be performed at baseline and after 12weeks follow up.
NCT07184541
Ongoing self-care for heart failure is essential to avoid complications and hospitalization. Supportive strategies are needed; however, patients with heart failure may find many interventions complicated and overwhelming. The purpose of this pilot study is to implement a simple weight tracking tool (Wake and Weigh) to affect self-care and quality of life in a population of older adults with heart failure. This will be a randomized controlled pilot trial to test the methods to be used in a larger randomized controlled trial. The Self-care in Heart Failure Index and Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire surveys will be given at admission and four weeks after discharge. The Wake and Weigh tool is designed to help patients track weight in the hospital and following discharge. Feasibility endpoints will be summarized descriptively.
NCT04489225
Medtronic is sponsoring the HFRS PAS to evaluate the HFRS feature (TriageHF) when used in routine clinical practice following commercial release. The HFRS PAS is conducted within Medtronic's Product Surveillance Registry (PSR) platform.
NCT05284747
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of early treatment with evolocumab plus routine lipid management vs routine lipid management alone when administered in the acute setting to reduce myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, arterial revascularization, and all-cause death in subjects hospitalized for an acute myocardial infarction (non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction \[NSTEMI\] and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction \[STEMI\]).
NCT07220304
This study evaluates the use of CaRi-Heart® analysis, an artificial-intelligence (AI) software tool that measures inflammation in the coronary arteries using images already captured during a standard Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) exam. The goal is to determine whether the additional information provided by CaRi-Heart® changes clinical decision-making and helps improve early identification and management of coronary artery disease in community imaging centers. Patients who undergo CCTA as part of their regular care will be invited to have their scans analyzed using CaRi-Heart® at no extra cost, time, or radiation.
NCT06964464
This prospective, multicenter, open-label, randomized comparative effectiveness trial, titled CARVTOP-ICD, evaluates the impact of carvedilol versus metoprolol succinate in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). The study will enroll 2,000 participants across 100 U.S. sites and includes an 18-month feasibility phase with 100 participants from 15 sites. Eligible participants must be currently treated with metoprolol succinate and willing to switch to carvedilol, with randomization in a 1:1 ratio. Participants will be followed for up to 3 years, with regular assessments including ICD interrogations, medication adherence, healthcare utilization, and quality of life surveys. The primary endpoint is the first occurrence of any ICD therapy (appropriate or inappropriate), cardiovascular (CV) hospitalization, or CV death. Secondary endpoints include ICD shock burden, healthcare utilization, and patient-reported quality of life. The trial aims to provide high-quality comparative data to address clinical equipoise surrounding the two commonly used beta-blockers in HFrEF management.
NCT05737940
This study is intended to assess the ability of AZD3427 to reduce pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) after 24 weeks of treatment in participants with heart failure (HF) and pulmonary hypertension (PH) Group 2
NCT05085275
A 9-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to compare the effect of fixed dose ferric citrate versus placebo in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease (eGFR ≤20 ml/min/1.73m2) on the composite endpoint of time to initiation of maintenance dialysis or all-cause mortality.

The Study will enroll up to 910 randomized subjects, up to 30 subjects in a parallel angiographic substudy, and up to 20 subjects in a parallel pharmacokinetic (pK) substudy, at up to 80 sites in the US, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Europe. A minimum of 50% of the subjects will be enrolled in the US.
NCT03891160
The purpose of this research study is to look at the advantages of using a 3D printed heart model for surgical planning in children who have been diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and clinical heart failure and will undergo a ventricular assist device (VAD) placement. The investigators want to study the correlation of having a 3D printed model with improvement in patient outcomes and compare those with patients who have had a VAD placement without a 3D model.
NCT01943903
The objective of the PLATFORM Study is to compare clinical outcomes, resource utilization, and quality of life (QOL) of FFRCT-guided evaluation versus standard practice evaluation in patients with suspected CAD in order to further inform patients, health care providers, and other stakeholders about which technologies are most effective and efficient in the diagnosis of CAD
NCT07222813
This is a pivotal, global, prospective, cross-sectional, multicentric clinical investigation designed to explore a non-invasive, reliable alternative to invasive, catheter-based hemodynamic assessments, which are associated with procedural risks and limited applicability in certain participant populations.
