Forty-six female patients aged 35-55 years who were suffering from shoulder dysfunction following mastectomy surgeries participated in this study. The participants were recruited from the outpatient clinic of the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University, and were randomly assigned into two equal groups. Group A: consisted of 23 patients who received sensorimotor training exercises in addition to a traditional physical therapy program which included shoulder range of motion exercises, capsular stretching exercises, scapular muscle strengthening exercises, shoulder Maitland mobilization, and scapular mobilization. Group B: consisted of 23 patients who received only the traditional physical therapy program, which included shoulder range of motion exercises, capsular stretching exercises, scapular muscle strengthening exercises, shoulder Maitland mobilization, and scapular mobilization. Both groups received treatment three sessions per week for a duration of eight weeks.

The aim of study was to investigate the comparative effectiveness of Isometrics versus Range of Motion (ROM) Exercises on Pain, Mobility and Functional Independence post-mastectomy. A randomized clinical trial was conducted, in which 30 participants were randomly assigned to 2 parallel groups. One group received Isometric Exercises, while the other received Range of Motion Exercises. Outcome measures included pain, range of motion and functional independence. Treatments were administered 3 times per week with 2 sets of each exercise with 5-7 repetitions per day for a duration of eight weeks.

Motor control and strengthening exercises can improve function in shoulder impingement patients by realigning the scapula and changing muscle recruitment patterns. Peripheral musculoskeletal impairments can be associated with cortical reorganisation. Movement retraining using the principles of motor control retrain muscle recruitment patterns and improve scapular kinematics, reducing subacromial impingement, thus improving function and reducing pain. Furthermore, the need of this study is developed from the lack in the quantitative knowledge and information in the published studies about the effect of motor control retraining exercises on shoulder dysfunction post-mastectomy.

Generally, Breast cancer related to lymphedema is commonly found in the female population after mastectomy. It has many complications which affects the normal functions of an individual and quality of life. This randomized control trial will be conducted on patients who are admitted as patients after mastectomy to determine the effects of kinesiology taping technique in post mastectomy breast cancer related lymphedema on swelling, upper limb function and strength.
