Severe periodontitis is widespread and begins with reversible gingivitis, driven by poor oral hygiene and a dysbiotic microbiome. Daily toothbrushing is the simplest prevention, but patients still leave plaque. Electric brushes remove more plaque and reduce gingivitis better than manual ones, and users show better periodontal status. App-connected smart brushes and apps aim to improve adherence. Trials increased plaque reduction and brushing time versus manual brushing, but app layers have not clearly beaten standard power brushes, and microbiological outcomes are rarely reported. Xiaomi's AI-based sonic T501 adds pressure sensing, personalised coaching and coverage tracking, whereas the T302 is a simpler non-connected sonic brush. Streptococcus sanguinis is a health-associated early coloniser; its qPCR-measured relative abundance marks a healthy supragingival profile. It is still unclear whether AI guidance adds extra benefit beyond a standard electric brush in adult gingivitis.

This is an experimental gingivitis clinical study to evaluate gum health efficacy from the combination effect of water flosser and chemistry (0.075% CPC) compared to water flosser and water and to no oral hygiene regimen with a 3-week follow-up. Thirty participants, aged between 18 and 70, will be enrolled.

This randomized controlled trial will be conducted on 40 orthodontic patients at the Department of Orthodontics, University Hospital Centre Zagreb, Croatia. Respondents will be randomly allocated into 4 groups (n=10). The first group will receive photodynamic therapy, the second tricalcium phosphate varnish with 5% NaF (sodium fluoride), the third 1% chlorhexidine varnish, while the fourth group will be the negative control. Before and after the mentioned interventions, the participants will have the amount of plaque measured using the plaque index and the bacteriological composition of the plaque assessed using the mass spectrometry and PCR. The gingival condition will be assessed using the gingival index. Also, the occurrence of white spot lesions will be evaluated on intraoral photographs.

The purpose of the study is to test the antibacterial effect of Parodontax toothpaste on plaque formation, and thus gingivitis compared to placebo toothpaste. Each subject will be given 2 plastic splints that are individually adapted to their quadrant 1 and 2. In the splint in the 1st quadrant, Parodontax test toothpaste will be placed, while in the splint in the 2nd quadrant, regular toothpaste will be placed, which the subject uses daily. Each person's set of teeth is otherwise professionally cleaned.

Using an experimental, non-invasive intra-oral imaging device, this study evaluates the effects on the gingival tissue when oral hygiene is stopped in a section of the mouth for two weeks and gingivitis develops. The effects on the gingival tissue continues to be evaluated as oral hygiene is resumed and the gingival tissue returns to health.
