This study aims to explore how a functional exercise program, with or without music, affects physical function and quality of life in older adults with mild dementia. Participants were divided into two groups: one group performed functional exercises alone, while the other group performed the same exercises accompanied by music. The program was conducted twice a week for 8 weeks, with each session lasting 60 minutes. Researchers evaluated changes in balance, mobility, risk and fear of falling, hand grip strength, daily living activities, and overall quality of life before and after the program.

The study summary and design were to assess procedural anxiety and stress in parents and pain perception in children during intradermal testing. Music medicine was incorporated into the study design as a nonpharmacological intervention. Two distinct auditory modalities were used: solfeggio frequencies-174 Hz, 285 Hz, 396 Hz, and 528 Hz-which have been suggested to interact with the human energy field through resonance-based mechanisms, and Turkish classical musical modes (makams), such as Rast, Hicaz, Uşşak, Neva, and Saba, which are modal systems that include microtonal intervals and follow specific melodic progressions that are often associated with different emotional and spiritual effects as well as sensory and emotional regulation potential.

This study aims to find out whether listening to music before, during, and after pain procedures can help reduce anxiety, pain catastrophising, and acute pain in patients with chronic pain. Music therapy may provide a simple, safe, and non-drug way to help patients relax and feel more comfortable. In this study, adult patients with chronic pain who are scheduled for interventional pain procedures at Singapore General Hospital will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will listen to self-selected music through headphones and speakers before, during, and after the procedure. The other group will receive standard care without music. Researchers will measure anxiety, pain catastrophising, and pain levels before and after the procedure using validated questionnaires. The main outcome will be the level of anxiety after the procedure. Other outcomes include pain catastrophising scores, pain scores during local anaesthetic injection, and overall patient satisfaction. This study will help determine if music therapy can be routinely used to improve comfort and emotional well-being for patients undergoing interventional pain procedures.

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the effectiveness of a music-based intervention as a bereavement strategy for individuals who are a part of the Loss of Spouse/Life Partner Grief Support Group at HopeHealth, a healthcare organization in Providence, Rhode Island that specializes in home care, hospice care, palliative care, and grief support. The main question it ams to answer is: * Will the experience of creating a musical playlist help individuals in bereavement process their grief more effectively? Participants will undergo the following main tasks: * A baseline pre-assessment survey that asks about the role of music in the participant's and their partner's life, as well as how music has helped participants with their grief. * A 75-minute Zoom session with the study investigator which includes a conversation about the participant's loved one and grief journey. This Zoom session serves to find themes and emotions in the participant's grief journey which will be as foundations for musical playlists. * Participants will create their own musical playlist based on guidance from the study investigator. * A post-assessment survey that asks participants to reflect on the experience of creating a playlist. This survey also examines if music plays a new role in the participant's life.

Background: Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a neurological condition caused by poor oxygenation during the peripartum period. The main strategy to mitigate neurological damage is hypothermic therapy (HT), whose effectiveness-among other factors-depends on adequate pain management. Considering the prevalence of allodynia in this group of patients, routine nursing procedures can become sources of additional stress and pain. Music therapy is used in this population to promote self-regulation and relaxation, and may therefore help reduce pain levels after routine nursing procedures. Research question: What is the effect of an entrainment-based live music therapy intervention on pain levels in newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy undergoing hypothermic therapy after routine nursing procedures? Methodology: A randomized, crossover pilot and feasibility study. Participants will be 22 newborns admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the University Hospital Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá. Participants will receive standard care plus a 15-minute live music therapy session after a routine nursing procedure, or standard care alone. The primary outcome is the Premature Infant Pain Profile-Revised (PIPP-R) scale, which will be assessed through video recordings. Secondary outcomes are vital signs, heart rate variability, and electroencephalography (EEG) recordings. Expected outcomes: Through this study, the aim is to improve the comfort and well-being of patients with HIE during TH. In addition, the safety and feasibility of music therapy in this population will be evaluated, seeking to contribute to current knowledge about the mechanisms of music therapy.

This study aims to explore the effects of preoperative education combined with intraoperative music therapy on perioperative anxiety and pain in patients undergoing elective cesarean section. The study subjects were patients scheduled for cesarean section under combined spinal - epidural anesthesia. A prospective study design with random grouping was adopted. It is common knowledge that music has a positive impact on human well-being. It is also well-known that medical residents are frequently stressed and burnt out. With these two thoughts in mind, the investigators want to explore how participating in a musical engagement program may positively impact medical resident well-being. The investigators hope to do this by hosting four informal musical engagement sessions with medical residents, which will involve playing instruments, improvising, and reading sheet music. To study the impact that this program has on participants, investigators will ask participants to complete a survey. The investigators hope to find that participants are positively impacted by participation in the study, in terms of factors like stress reduction and minimized burnout symptoms. Hopefully, the study results may inform residency program curriculum designers in the future may incorporate music into wellness programming.

Comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation for breast cancer consist of interdisciplinary team care but few researchers investigate the efficacy of music therapy, which have shown some benefits in breast cancer rehabilitation. According to previous research, music therapy has been proposed to improve quality of life, as well as depression and stress of breast cancer patients. However, to the best of our knowledge, only few studies have investigated the impact of music therapy among health-related parameter of patient with breast cancer. Considering the fact that music therapy had merely no adverse events, we assume music therapy is an optimal add-on therapy for patient with breast cancer. Therefore, we plan to conduct a study to evaluate the impact of music therapy on anxiety, and fatigue on patients with breast cancer.

Introduction Sleeping problems experienced by cancer patients carers are frequent with 72% of carers reporting moderate to severe problems. Another consequence for this carers is the increase of suffering from depression and it is usually associated to carer overload. Objectives Main objective: \- To evaluate the effects of listening to music in sleep quality for oncology patients non-professional carers at home, and to evaluate the influence of specific factors that may modify that effect. Secondary objectives: * To assess the relationship between the waking state and the consequences during the day according to sleep characteristics. These include: 1\. Psychological results: 1. Quality of life. 2. Carer overload. 2\. Physical results: 1. Sleepiness during the day. 2. Physical activity, intensity and length evaluation. * To assess carers satisfaction with the intervention. Method Randomized clinical trial, single blinding and performed in oncological patients carers in several practices. 2 samples of 40 carers. Intervention group will be taken through a seven session intervention with music; control group will undergo seven sessions of therapeutic education (as a reminder). Results will be evaluated using Pittsburgh Quality of Sleep Index, triaxial accelerometer, EuroQol-5D-5L, Caregiver Strain Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Client Satisfaction Questionnaire. Statistical analysis Basal values will be compared for both groups. Then the values before and after the intervention will be compared using Student's t distribution for normal continuous variables, and Wilcoxon's T test for paired data in continuous not normal variables. A multiple linear regression will be carried out. The system developed for the PREDIMEDPLUS study will be used to process accelerometer data results. This semi-automated system manages data capture in a continuous stream in a central server of Malaga University. Processing and analysis of this data is also centralised, with an open source package, GGIR v. 1.5-1248

Background Perioperative anxiety and postoperative pain can impact surgical morbidity. We aimed to evaluate the effect of intraoperative music therapy in the reduction of immediate postoperative pain in patients undergoing gynecological oncology surgery within an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. Secondary objectives include reduction in preoperative anxiety, postoperative pain overtime, neurohormonal response, morbidity, length of hospital stay (LOS) and patient satisfaction. Methods Prospective, randomized, double-blinded single-center study including patients undergoing surgery for ovarian, endometrial or cervical cancer over a period of 12 months. Patients were randomly assigned to receiving intraoperative music therapy (Group A) or undergoing standard management (Group B). A reduction in immediate postoperative pain was defined as a reduction in ≥2 points in the Verbal Rating Scale(VRS) at 4h postoperatively. Hemodynamic variables and blood samples were collected during the procedure for determination of cortisol levels. A scale of closed numeric questions (Likert-like) was used to assess patient satisfaction.

Introduction: There is an increase on cancer prevalence and, consequently, a higher number of people that require palliative care, making an influence on the family and the main carer. Objectives: * To evaluate the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of a music intervention program, applied as a complementary therapy, in oncological palliative care patients and carers at home, compared to current treatment. * To assess if patients in the intervention group submit significant differences regarding: pain, anxiety, depression, modo, insomnia, and life quality. * To assess if carers in the intervention group present significant differences regarding the Caregiver Burden Scale and life quality. * To evaluate patients and carers satisfaction on the therapeutic intervention. * To estimate the cost-effectiveness of the intervention. Method: Randomised, double-blind, multi-centre clinical trial in the field of primary health care, conducted in 5 clinical management units belonging to Málaga-Guadalhorce health district and performed in oncological palliative care patients and carers. Two samples of 40 palliative care patients and two samples of 41 carers. The intervention group will undergo a 7-days intervention with music sessions, the control group will be given seven sessions of retraining in therapeutical education. Objectives will be evaluated through the following tools: Edmonton Scale, Symptom Assessment System, EORTC QLQ-C30, Caregiver Burden Scale, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Accelerometer, Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), The Quality of Life Family Version, Client Satisfaction Questionnaire and Economical valuation. To assess the objectives evaluations will be performed through home visit, both pre-intervention and a week after the beginning of the intervention for both groups. A follow-up visit will be made a month after the intervention to regard some economical parameters. Statistical analysis: The basal values of both groups will be compared. These values will be compared before and after the intervention, in the control and intervention group through Student t-test for normal continuous variables, and through Wilcoxon t-test for paired data in not normal continuous variables. In addition to the bivariated analysis, a multiple lineal regression will be carried out. The economical valuation will be a cost-effectiveness analysis. For each group we will measure cost, incremental cost, AVAC effectiveness, incremental effectiveness, dominance and, in case there is none, the results will be expressed in terms of incremental cost-effectiveness. To assess the costs, direct sanitary costs and intervention related costs will be considered. SPSS 23 will be the statistical software to use, along with Epidat 3.01. 95% confidence range will make p values under 0,05 (p\<0.05) statistically significant.

The investigators will conduct a prospective quasi-experimental design study of patients in the University of Florida Health Emergency Department. Live preferential music will be performed for patients in the emergency department on alternating days over 20 weeks, and subjects exposed to the music intervention will be matched to a cohort that present to the emergency department on days with no music to assess impact on patient and healthcare provider satisfaction, pain medication utilization, length of stay, and cost of care.
