NCT00424411
To determine, in subjects with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: 1. Whether glycemic control can be achieved at least as effectively with an insulin regimen involving pre-meal EXUBERA™ (inhaled insulin) plus a single bedtime Ultralente injection as with a conventional subcutaneous insulin regimen involving 2 mixed Regular/NPH insulin injections per day. 2. The toleration and safety of EXUBERA™ (inhaled insulin) therapy and its effects after 6 months, if any, on measures of pulmonary function.
NCT00048425
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a 24-hour infusion of levosimendan compared with placebo in the treatment of decompensated chronic heart failure.
NCT00278967
To compare the safety and efficacy of 2 different bowel cleansing preparations prior to colonoscopy in adult subjects.
NCT00066898
To assess the safety and efficacy of AGI-1067, as compared to placebo, in the treatment of vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis by assessing the reduction in cardiovascular events.
NCT00385385
The objective of this study is to evaluate an antibiotic therapy called Rifalazil to determine its effect on hardening of the carotid arteries.
NCT00140309
This study is a placebo-controlled factorial study, randomized to study drug (moxifloxacin vs. ethambutol) and treatment frequency (daily vs. thrice weekly after an initial two weeks of daily therapy) during the first two months of standard treatment (with isoniazid, rifampin, and pyrazinamide) for sputum smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis.
NCT00039858
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safe and effective dose of Argatroban for prophylaxis and/or treatment of thrombosis in pediatric patients with current or previous diagnosis of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) and thrombosis syndrome (HITTS), or who in the opinion of the investigator require alternative anticoagulation due to an underlying condition.
NCT00062907
The purpose of this trial is to examine the safety and immunogenicity of a therapeutic vaccine regimen with recombinant DNA and adenovirus expressing L523S protein in patients with early stage non-small cell lung cancer. The vaccine regimen will consist of two fixed doses of recombinant DNA (pVAX/L523S) followed by two doses of recombinant adenovirus (Ad/L523S). The trial will evaluate the dose escalation of Ad/L523S through three cohorts of patients.
NCT00139763
This is a questionnaire based study (no study drug is involved) that asks if more patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes on diabetes pills will choose insulin as the next treatment choice if inhaled insulin were available in addition to all currently available treatments, compared with if inhaled insulin was not available as part of currently available treatments. This study will also ask if patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes currently managed on diabetes pills + once daily insulin will choose as the next treatment choice to take insulin multiple times a day if inhaled insulin were available in addition to all currently available treatments, compared with if inhaled insulin was not available as part of currently available treatments.
NCT00191633
The purpose of this study is to assess whether changes in the symptoms of ADHD show a relationship with changes in functioning in children with ADHD treated with atomoxetine over a 3-month period.
NCT00080197
The purpose of this study is to determine if E7070 is an efficacious, safe, and tolerable treatment for patients with metastatic breast cancer who have failed, or could not tolerate, prior treatments with an anthracycline, a taxane, and capecitabine.
NCT00273884
This protocol is designed to assess the safety and efficacy of amonafide in combination with cytarabine in subjects with previously untreated secondary AML.
NCT00191802
The purposes of this study are to evaluate the acceptance of the subcutaneous drug teriparatide over 6 months of therapy in patients with severe osteoporosis in Canada, and to evaluate how often such patients are actually able to use the injection; to obtain additional safety data (side effect data) that will supplement the existing database of adverse events that have been reported to-date in clinical trials by patients treated with teriparatide; to document the prior use of other osteoporosis therapies in this patient population, and ongoing use of other osteoporosis therapies during the study; and to describe the baseline demographics and disease state of these severely osteoporotic patients. The purposes of the study extension are to continue to assess the acceptance of the subcutaneous drug teriparatide over up to 18 months of therapy in patients with severe osteoporosis in Canada, and to continue to assess how often such patients are actually able to use the injection; to obtain additional safety data (side effects) that will supplement the existing database of adverse events that have been reported to date in clinical trials by patients treated with teriparatide.
NCT00217139
The objective of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of celgosivir plus peginterferon alfa-2b, with or without ribavirin, for 12 weeks in patients with chronic hepatitis C genotype 1 infection.
NCT00283361
The main purpose of this study is to see if the experimental drug ZP120, when given with the approved drug furosemide to patients with acute or sub-acute heart failure, can reduce the amount of fluid in the patients' lungs and make breathing easier.
NCT00050830
The purpose of study to determine the activity of CI 1033 against tumors in patients with advanced or metastatic NSCLC who have failed prior platinum-based combination chemotherapy. Another objective is to determine the safety of CI 1033.
NCT00383305
This is a research study of head cooling. Its goal is to determine whether cooling babies' heads can reduce or prevent brain damage that may have resulted from temporarily reduced oxygen supply to the brain. In this study, half of the babies (selected at random) will have a special cooling cap with circulating water placed on their head for 72 hours to lower the temperature of their brain. The rest of the baby's body will be maintained at a defined temperature by a standard overhead radiant heater. The study protocol includes the taking and analysis of blood samples, performance of brain wave tests, imaging of the brain by ultrasound, and other tests as clinically indicated. Neurodevelopmental outcome will also be assessed at 18 months of age.
NCT00266682
People who have a slow heart beat, or whose heart does not beat on its own, may be in need of an electronic device called a pacemaker. A pacemaker is implanted surgically just under the skin in the upper chest area. This device helps the heart beat at a regular rhythm by sending electrical signals (pacing) directly to the heart tissue through flexible wires called leads. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that the SelectSecure (Model 3830) lead is safe and effective for both sensing the heart's natural rhythm and pacing the heart when it does not beat on its own. This lead will be studied in both the right atrium and right ventricle. A previously market approved Medtronic lead model will serve as a comparison to prove the safety and effectiveness of the SelectSecure Model.
NCT00228592
The purpose of this study is to compare the use of HepeX-B versus HBIg, two anti-viral drugs, in patients who have received liver transplants due to liver failure caused by Hepatitis B infection. Patients will be evaluated over a 6 month to 1.5 year period to evaluate whether or not the drugs prevent the Hepatitis B virus from infecting the new liver.
NCT00141414
To evaluate the long-term safety of pregabalin in refractory partial epilepsy.
