NCT00004188
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying peripheral stem cell transplantation with treated peripheral stem cells following combination chemotherapy to see how well it works compared to peripheral stem cell transplantation with untreated peripheral stem cells following combination chemotherapy in treating patients with neuroblastoma.
NCT00077857
This 2 arm study compared the efficacy and safety of label dose of capecitabine (Xeloda®) to that of a lower dose of Xeloda® plus docetaxel (Taxotere®) in patients with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer after failure of chemotherapy with an anthracycline. Patients were randomized to receive either 1250 mg/m\^2 or 825 mg/m\^2 orally twice a day (po bid) on days 1-14 of each 3 week cycle, in combination with Taxotere® 75 mg/m2 intravenous (iv) on day 1 of each 3 week cycle. The anticipated time on study treatment was until disease progression and the target sample size was 440 individuals.
NCT00064662
The primary aim of this clinical trial is to compare the treatment success for two surgical procedures that are frequently used and have similar cure rates, yet have not been compared directly to each other in a large, rigorously conducted randomized trial. The secondary aims of the trial are to compare other outcomes for the two surgical procedures, including quality of life, sexual function, satisfaction with treatment outcomes, complications, and need for other treatment(s)after surgery. Follow-up will be a minimum of two years and up to four years.
NCT01444365
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of ABT-652 in combination with a Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug (NSAID) compared to NSAID alone in adults with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee.
NCT00268463
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as oxaliplatin, capecitabine, and floxuridine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Hepatic arterial infusion uses a catheter to carry tumor-killing substances, such as chemotherapy, directly into the liver. Giving chemotherapy in different ways may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether giving oxaliplatin and capecitabine together with an hepatic arterial infusion with floxuridine is more effective than giving oxaliplatin and capecitabine alone in treating patients who are undergoing surgery and/or ablation for liver metastases due to colorectal cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying oxaliplatin, capecitabine, and an hepatic arterial infusion with floxuridine to see how well they work compared to oxaliplatin and capecitabine in treating patients who are undergoing surgery and/or ablation for liver metastases due to colorectal cancer.
NCT00315874
The objective of this study is to demonstrate the effectiveness and tolerability of the buprenorphine transdermal system (5, 10, and 20 mg) in comparison to placebo transdermal system and immediate release oxycodone/acetaminophen in subjects with chronic low back pain inadequately treated with non-opioid analgesics. The double-blind treatment intervention duration is 60 days.
NCT00083304
RSR13 (efaproxiral) is a radiation sensitizer that has shown positive results in a Phase 3, randomized clinical trial of patients with brain metastases. Of 111 eligible breast cancer patients with brain metastases in that trial, 59 patients who received RSR13 prior to radiation therapy had a median survival time that was twice as long as the 52 patients who did not receive RSR13 prior to radiation therapy. RSR13 (efaproxiral) is an experimental drug that increases the amount of oxygen released from blood into the tissues. It is well known that certain types of cancer tumors, including those in brain metastases, lack oxygen. Lack of oxygen in a tumor can reduce the effect of radiation therapy (RT). RSR13 may increase the oxygen level in brain tumors so that radiation therapy works better. This study will enroll up to 360 women with brain metastases from breast cancer, and will evaluate if whole brain radiation therapy given with RSR13 will have a better treatment effect than whole brain radiation therapy alone. RSR13 will be infused intravenously (IV) through a central catheter placed in a central vein. Women randomized (assigned) to receive RSR13, therefore, will need to have a central catheter placed for treatment unless one is already in place.
NCT01064505
This is an open-label, dose escalation, safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetic study, where active study drug (QPI-1007) will be given to all patients who participate. This study will determine whether QPI-1007 is safe when it is injected into the eye. The study will also reveal if there are any side effects of the drug and how long it takes for the body to clear the drug.
NCT00055887
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs such as efaproxiral may make the tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. It is not yet known if chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy is more effective with or without efaproxiral in treating non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy with or without efaproxiral in treating patients who have stage III non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT01798264
evaluate the safety and tolerability of ITCA 650 in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
NCT00925743
This study is designed as a phase 1, multicenter, open-label, single arm, dose-escalation, study of Cabazitaxel in combination with cisplatin, to determine safety, pharmacokinetics (PK), and efficacy in solid tumors (parts 1 and 2) and single sequence, two-treatment, crossover studies to determine the effect of strong CYP3A4 inhibition and induction on the PK of Cabazitaxel in patients with solid tumors (part 3 and part 4, respectively). There are 4 parts to the study: Part 1: Determine the Dose Limiting Toxicities (DLT)'s and Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD) based on safety. Part 2: Determine the anti-tumor activity of the combination regimen at the Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD) in an extended cohort of patients. Part 3: Determine the effect of a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor (ketoconazole) on the pharmacokinetic (PK) of Cabazitaxel. Part 4: Determine the effect of a strong CYP3A4 inducer (rifampin) on the pharmacokinetic (PK) of Cabazitaxel.
NCT00004176
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs such as amifostine may protect normal cells from the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of amifostine plus chemotherapy and radiation therapy in treating patients who have limited-stage small cell lung cancer.
