This is a multi-center, double-blind, placebo controlled clinical trial of two dosages of oral pioglitazone (15 milligram(mg) and 45 milligram (mg)) for safety, tolerability, and futility. Subjects who are on stable dose of rasagiline 1 mg/day or selegiline 10 mg/day for at least 8 weeks but no more than 8 months, will be randomized to one of two dosages of oral pioglitazone (15 mg and 45 mg) or matching placebo. The study will measure disease progression by the change in total Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) score between the baseline visit and 44 weeks.

The study is a pilot, designed to provide data regarding the feasibility and acceptability of conducting such a study on a larger scale. The present study is a randomized controlled clinical trial comparing two programs to help people manage diabetes and lose weight, one using a moderate-carbohydrate diet promoted by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the other using on a low-carbohydrate diet (LC) and mindfulness and positive affect lifestyle modifications. Intervention content will include information about nutrition (American Diabetes Association recommended diet or carbohydrate restriction) and, in the LC group, emotion regulation, positive affect, and mindful eating strategies.

Current imaging options do not assess prostate cancer well. This study will combine two magnetic resonance imaging modalities, MRI and MRSI, in order to determine the utility to physicians and patients with prostate cancer in making treatment decisions and seeing how well various types of treatment work. Hyperpolarized pyruvate (13C) is an investigational product that may enhance the imaging capability of MRI and MRSI. Hyperpolarized pyruvate will be injected into the body to determine how it is metabolized and how it's metabolism can be assessed using MR imaging. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and metabolism of hyperpolarized pyruvate in humans, and how this can be used to increase the effectiveness of MR imaging with regards to patient care.

This double-blind 8 week study will evaluate dose response, efficacy (blood pressure lowering effect) and safety of aliskiren in children 6 - 17 years old with hypertension at low, mid and high weight-based doses. The low dose ranges from 6.25 mg to 25 mg of aliskiren, the mid dose ranges from 37.5 mg to 150 mg of aliskiren and the high dose ranges from 150 mg to 600 mg of aliskiren. RATIONALE: Vaccines made from a gene-modified virus and a person's white blood cells may make the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. Biological therapies, such as Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), may stimulate the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing. Combining different types of biological therapies may kill more tumor cells.
