NCT01649297
The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of two doses (high and low) of empagliflozin as add-on therapy to metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and insufficient glycaemic control. Both doses may be given once daily or split to a twice daily dosage. This results in 4 different dosage regimens of empagliflozin (high dose once daily or split vs. low dose once daily or split). This is done to evaluate whether a twice daily dose regimen of empagliflozin results in a loss of efficacy relative to once daily dosing when given on top of metformin background therapy.
NCT01464996
This randomized clinical trial evaluates the clinical performance of a new two-component self-etch universal adhesive, OptiBond XTR, when applied in non-carious Class V cervical lesions without macromechanical retention (retentive grooves or bevels). The control material is OptiBond FL, a "traditional" etch/prime/bond adhesive with documented clinical performance. Eighty non-carious Class V cervical lesions are divided into two groups to be treated with either OptiBond XTR or OptiBond FL. Both adhesives are applied strictly according to the manufacturer's directions. Herculite Ultra, a nano-hybrid resin-based composite, is used as the restorative material with both adhesives. The restorations will be evaluated at insertion (baseline), 6 months, and 18 months. An optional three-year recall evaluation is also proposed. The investigators hypothesize that both adhesives will have comparable performance.
NCT01232569
This randomized, parallel-group, placebo-controlled, multicenter study will evaluate the reduction in disease activity and the safety of tocilizumab (RoActemra/Actemra) in combination with traditional disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) in patients with active, moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. In the double-blind part of the study, patients will be randomized to receive either 162 mg tocilizumab or placebo subcutaneously every 2 weeks for 24 weeks using a pre-filled syringe. In the open-label part of the study, patients will be randomized to receive 162 mg tocilizumab subcutaneously every 2 weeks from Week 24 to Week 96 using a pre-filled syringe or an auto-injector.
NCT00733447
The purposes of this study are to confirm that the Freedom Driver System is a suitable pneumatic driver for clinically stable TAH-t subjects, and that patients and lay caregivers can be trained to manage the Freedom Driver System safely outside the hospital.
NCT01244503
The purpose of the study is to demonstrate that the ¹³C-Octanoate Breath Test (OBT) can be used as an aid, in conjunction with other clinical information and medical history, for evaluating disease severity and detecting NASH with a high probability.
NCT00383890
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of dexmedetomidine versus placebo used for sedation during elective awake fiberoptic intubation.
NCT00471120
This study aims at developing an accurate, simple, and cost-effective method for screening and early detection of uterine cancers
NCT00044291
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the first line combination hormonal therapy of an experimental drug, atamestane, plus an FDA-approved drug, toremifene (Fareston®), is more effective than another approved drug, letrozole (Femara®), in delaying the growth of breast cancer in postmenopausal patients with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer, and whether the side effects of the combination are different from the side effects of letrozole.
NCT00961441
To study how the body absorbs, distributes, metabolises and eliminates Keppra XR in both children (12 to 16 years old) and adults (18 to 55 years old) with epilepsy.
NCT00000410
This study tests the effectiveness of different treatments for the three most commonly diagnosed lumbar (lower) spine conditions. The purpose of the study is to learn which of two commonly prescribed treatments (surgery and non-surgical therapy) works better for specific types of low back pain. In this part of the study, people with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation (damage to the tissue between the bones of the lower spine, or backbone) will receive either discectomy (surgical removal of herniated disc material) or non-surgical treatment. This study does not cover the cost of treatment.
NCT00565058
This is a Phase II trial conducted at multiple centers for evaluation of the pharmacodynamic activity and the overall response rate contributed by the combination agents of GTI-2040 and High Dose Cytarabine (HiDAC) in Refractory and Relapsed Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
NCT00844844
The purpose of this study is to determine whether eculizumab is safe and effective in the treatment of adolescent patients with plasma therapy-resistant Atypical Hemolytic-Uremic Syndrome (aHUS).
NCT00844545
The purpose of this study is to determine whether eculizumab is safe and effective in the treatment of adult patients with plasma therapy-resistant Atypical Hemolytic-Uremic Syndrome (aHUS).
NCT00421889
The study seeks to assess the safety, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and efficacy of belinostat (PXD101) administered in combination with carboplatin or paclitaxel or both in patients with solid tumours followed by maximum tolerated dose (MTD) expansion (phase II) in ovarian and bladder cancer patients The clinical trial is now in the MTD (phase II) portion of the study enrolling bladder cancer patients. Enrollment of ovarian patients is complete.
NCT01478061
The Study plan is a post-market prospective, multi-center, open-label registry. The vein graft failure rates for the currently commercialized C-Port devices will be compared to an a priori rate taken from the peer-reviewed literature.
NCT00274651
Open-label, non-randomized trial to assess the effectiveness of PXD101 in patients with recurrent or refractory cutaneous or peripheral and other types of T-cell lymphomas. PXD101 is a new, potent histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. Patients are treated with belinostat(PXD101) 1000 mg/m2 on days 1-5 of a 21 day cycle.
NCT02056574
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, single-dose study investigating the safety and efficacy of NA-1 in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) undergoing endovascular repair of ruptured intracranial aneurysms. Up to 300 male and female patients with SAH undergoing endovascular repair of a ruptured intracranial aneurysm will be dosed with 2.60 mg/kg of NA-1 or placebo as a 10 minute intravenous infusion after completion of the endovascular procedure on Day 1 of the study period. Subjects will undergo interim procedures at Day 2-4, Day 30-45, and end-of-study procedures on Day 90.
NCT01795872
This study assesses clinical and imaging long-term data, after early or delayed interferon-beta-1b treatment in patients with a first demyelinating event suggestive of multiple sclerosis (MS), 11 years after enrollment in the Betaferon/Betaseron in Newly Emerging Multiple Sclerosis for Initial Treatment (BENEFIT) study (304747). The main objectives are to describe the disease course, change in disability, cognitive function, resource use and employment status, in relation to Interferon beta-1b in the long term.
NCT00310661
TD is a troublesome and potentially irreversible side effect associated with the use of neuroleptics. While the newer neuroleptics are improved in this regard, they all still carry the risk of TD. The present study proposes that sarizotan is a potential agent for treating neuroleptic-induced TD based on preliminary data indicating efficacy in the management of dyskinesias associated with Parkinson's disease. Its efficacy is further substantiated by pre-clinical data obtained from the vacuous chewing movement (VCM) model in rats, a model we employ ourselves in investigating the relationship between D2 occupancy and TD. The present study also examines the effects of sarizotan on cognitive function, given the association between TD and cognitive deficits.
NCT00003636
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining surgery with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether chemotherapy before surgery is more effective than chemotherapy after surgery in treating ovarian, peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying chemotherapy given before surgery to see how well it works compared to chemotherapy given after surgery with or without additional surgery in treating patients with stage III or stage IV ovarian cancer, peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer.
