NCT01330628
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of laser atherectomy with balloon angioplasty compared to balloon angioplasty alone in the treatment of above the knee peripheral artery in-stent restenosis.
NCT01946217
This pilot research trial studies factors affecting patient participation in Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Malignancy Clinical Trials Consortium clinical trials. Determining how patients makes decisions about participating in a clinical trial may help doctors plan clinical trials in which more patients are willing to participate and are satisfied with their decision to participate.
NCT01551433
The purpose of this study is to test whether after an Ivor Lewis esophagectomy (the removal of a portion of the stomach and esophagus with re-attachment) there is an association between the intraoperative level of oxygen at the site where the esophagus is re-attached to the stomach (measured using the Wipox), and the incidence of a disruption at the site of the attachment after the surgery.
NCT01268657
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a brief intervention for disabling anxiety is practical to conduct and beneficial for older adults injured by falls.
NCT00320255
The purpose of this study is to learn whether apixaban is well-tolerated and acceptable as anticoagulant therapy, when administered to patients with advanced or metastatic cancer and at increased risk for venous thromboembolic events. Demonstration of a favorable benefit:risk profile could lead to significant reduction in this serious and sometimes fatal complication of ongoing cancer and its treatment.
NCT01998945
We will compare two programs that are designed to help older adults who have had fall injuries manage anxiety and improve their level of functioning. We expect that both programs will provide some benefit, but that one will promote better management.
NCT02114970
The investigators will develop and test a tablet-delivered informed consent process. In a preliminary phase of the study, older adults will provide feedback on a prototype tablet-delivered consent by participating in a focus group. In a separate second phase, older adults will be randomly assigned to a tablet-delivered or paper-delivered consent condition in which their comprehension of material covered in the consent will be assessed.
NCT01851096
Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is a chemical in the body that is involved in the promotion of cancer. SNX-5422 is an experimental drug that blocks Hsp90.
NCT00326963
This single arm study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of a new investigational protease inhibitor (PI) plus background antiretrovirals plus Fuzeon (90mg sc bid) in HIV-1 infected, triple-class treatment-experienced, Fuzeon-naive adults. The new investigational PI will be administered according to the procedures of the early access program in which the patient is enrolled. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is approximately 120 individuals.
NCT01166022
This study is being conducted to test whether exercise can be effectively used as an intervention to treat Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). In order to answer this question, the investigators will enroll 14 subjects with SMA between ages 8 and 50 and ask them to complete an 18 month training schedule. At some points subjects will be asked to closely follow a specific training regimen and at other points they may be asked to exercise in the same manner they do normally. The exercises they will be asked to perform include biking on a stationary cycle and lifting hand weights. Subjects will be asked to come in to the clinic seven times over the course of the study to perform tests. These tests include motor function measures, a physical exam, questionnaires, a exercise capacity test which involves riding a stationary bicycle, and test where the subject is asked to walk as far as they can in six minutes. The main goal of the study is to see if the subjects who participate in the exercise protocol have larger increases in the distance they can walk in six minutes than those who do not.
NCT00508950
The study will identify healthy adults who have been vaccinated against pneumococcus, and collect blood for the purpose of developing laboratory assays.
NCT01239121
Medication reconciliation, a process by which a provider obtains and documents a thorough medication history with specific attention to comparing current and previous medication use, can prevent medication-related errors and harm. The aims of this study are: 1) To adapt medication reconciliation to include information from a computerized regional health information exchange (RHIO) in the Bronx, 2) To conduct a trial of the adapted medication reconciliation process and examine effects on medication errors, harm, and hospital costs, and 3) To identify factors that are barriers to adoption of the RHIO tool by James J. Peters (Bronx) VA providers. Findings from this project will provide an understanding of the effect of the RHIO tool on reducing harmful VA and non-VA medication use. It will also provide information on the feasibility of incorporating RHIO tool use into every day work flow for pharmacists and physicians.
NCT00531518
EDIPP is a multisite trial of early identification and intervention to prevent the onset of psychosis in adolescents and young adults, carried out at six sites across the United States. The hypothesis is that very early identification and intervention will be effective in delaying or preventing onset of psychosis and improving social and occupational functioning.
NCT01029730
The goal of this multi-center Phase II study is to add bortezomib to the highly active regimen of bendamustine and rituximab. In this study, bortezomib will be administered on a weekly schedule (Days 1, 8, 15) and will be added to bendamustine/rituximab given in 4-week cycles. This combination uses the standard bendamustine dosing schedule, and is more convenient than the 5-week regimen of these 3 drugs currently being studied.
NCT00587288
The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness and safety of reslizumab in the treatment of subjects with poorly controlled asthma.
NCT01993654
This study aims to validate the use of laser in vivo confocal microscopy as an early diagnostic and differentiation tool of pigmented conjunctival lesions, evaluate the efficacy of in vivo confocal microscopy for follow-up (as a visualizing tool) after tumor resection for early detection of tumor recurrence, and to evaluate the use of in vivo confocal microscopy in evaluation of response to treatment. The modified technique with Heidelberg Retina Tomography (HRT) confocal microscopy and anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT) are non-invasive, no-touch, imaging techniques that may help in differentiation of benign lesions like nevi or racial melanosis, from malignant lesions like primary acquired melanosis and malignant melanomas. The OCT will potentially allow to estimate tumor depth in vivo as preliminary studies have shown.
NCT02798419
DFD05 vs. Active01 in the treatment of common warts
NCT00580320
Bortezomib will enhance the activity of dacarbazine against melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma. Weekly administration of the combination will prove to be feasible and tolerable at an appropriate dose.
NCT01772199
This is a randomized, parallel group, placebo-controlled study designed to assess whether GSK239512 can enhance lesion remyelination in subjects with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). Subjects with RRMS on stable background treatment with either Avonex (Interferon-beta1a) or Copaxone (Glatiramer Acetate) are eligible to participate. Subjects will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio between placebo and GSK239512, and will continue to be managed with their current standard of care therapy (Copaxone or Avonex). The total treatment period is 48 weeks, including a standard 4 week titration period and 44 week maintenance treatment period (which could be adapted to a 5-week titration and 43 week maintenance period, if needed). Titration doses start at 10 micrograms (mcg) and increase up to 80 mcg (10 mcg first week, 20 mcg second week, 40 mcg third week, 80 mcg fourth week). Subjects will be titrated to the maximum tolerated dose with the objective of titrating to the highest dose (80 mcg GSK239512), whenever possible, based on investigator judgement of tolerability. The post-treatment follow-up period will be a minimum of 2 weeks in duration following the end of treatment at Week 48 or early withdrawal, as appropriate.
