NCT00779519
Multiple pathways including peripheral and central hormones and neurotransmitters are involved in the regulation of food intake and body weight. One of the most studied pathways involves the melanocortin receptor. Agouti-related protein (AgRP) and alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (alphaMSH)have been shown to play an integral role in food intake and body weight. It is reasonable to speculate that if there is an imbalance of alphaMSH and AgRP exist in obese individuals and inhibiting the activity of AgRP may be of therapeutic benefit in treating obesity.
NCT00985413
This is an Observational Study of children under the age of 11 diagnosed with Cockayne Syndrome to assess the natural progression of Cockayne Syndrome disease, with special attention to hearing and physical changes in length or height, weight, head circumference, and arm span during standard treatment. The primary analytical objective is to determine the rate of linear growth over a 6-month period in children \< 2 years of age and over a 12-month period in children ≥ 2 years of age.
NCT01104181

NCT01228409
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder with a prevalence of approximately 1-3% worldwide. At present, there is no curative therapy available and the clinical course is unpredictable, but in the majority of cases psoriasis is a chronically remitting and relapsing disease. Several clinical subtypes of psoriasis exist with differences in manifestations and skin areas involved. Chronic stable plaque psoriasis (Psoriasis Vulgaris) is the commonest form of the disease, accounting for 85-90% of cases. The circumscribed infiltrated skin lesions are scaly and erythematous and often symmetrically distributed over the body. Several types of palliative therapies exist. The therapies are either topical or systemic. The severity of chronic plaque psoriasis is often determined by the percentage of body surface area (BSA) involved. For mild, moderate and severe chronic plaque psoriasis with BSA involvement of up to 20%, initial therapy is topical. Phototherapy and numerous systemic therapies are usually indicated when more than 20% of skin is affected. Severe plaque-type psoriasis requires systemic and long-term therapy in order to induce and maintain remission. Acitretin 25mg/day combined with a phototherapy regimen is a standard treatment that provides clinically significant efficacy, however many patients experience tolerability issues due to retinoid-related adverse events. Retinoid-related adverse events include but are not limited to: alopecia, dry mucus membranes, pruritus, photosensitivity, elevation of liver enzymes, elevation of serum triglycerides, cholesterol and decrease of HDL, arthralgias, myalgias, eye irritation, blepharitis, photophobia, conjunctivitis, headaches, nausea, anemia and leukemia. Reducing the acitretin dose from 25mg/day to 17.5mg/day may provide improved tolerability without compromising efficacy. The purpose of this study is to ascertain if reducing the acitretin dose from 25mg/day to 17.5mg/day will provide improved tolerability without compromising efficacy.
NCT00683930
This study was designed to assess the efficacy and safety of CellCept (1 g or 1.5 g orally twice daily for 52 weeks) in patients with pemphigus vulgaris receiving prednisone or other corticosteroids. During the study, patients had their corticosteroid dose gradually reduced if they responded to treatment. The anticipated time on study treatment was 12 months, and the target sample size was \<100 individuals.
NCT00027066
The goal of this study is to compare aspirin to warfarin for the prevention of recurrent stroke.
NCT00933738
This is a multi-center study designed to evaluate the heparin insensitivity of the INRatio Prothrombin Time (PT) Monitoring System, utilizing an INRatio test strip additionally modified for low sample volume. The INRatio test strip is used for the quantitative determination of PT and International Normalized Ratio (INR) results in fingerstick blood from subjects on oral anticoagulation therapy (OAT) with warfarin. This study is designed to evaluate the accuracy of the modified INRatio test strip during heparin-warfarin bridge therapy with unfractionated heparin (UH) or low molecular weight heparin (LMWH), such as enoxaparin or dalteparin. These INR results will be compared to the INR results obtained on plasma from the same subjects as analyzed at a central laboratory with the heparin-insensitive reference method: the Sysmex CA-560 System. The levels of UH or LMWH in the plasma samples will be assessed using activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) and anti-factor-Xa assays respectively.
NCT00004084
RATIONALE: Radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies can locate cancer cells and deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of radiolabeled monoclonal antibody therapy in treating patients who have lymphoma or leukemia that has not responded to previous chemotherapy.
NCT00004048
RATIONALE: Radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies can locate tumor cells and deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Chemotherapy uses different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by radioimmunotherapy or chemotherapy used to kill tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of radioimmunotherapy with or without doxorubicin plus peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have thyroid cancer.
NCT00566423
The investigators hypothesize that baseline plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and migration inhibitory factor (MIF) levels are surrogate markers of clinical severity of PAH and that changes in plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and MIF levels pre and post exercise.
NCT00393991
The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of the fixed combination asthma drug FlutiForm HFA MDI with its two components administered alone, fluticasone propionate and formoterol fumarate, and with placebo in adult and adolescent patients with mild to moderate asthma.
NCT00112619
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as topotecan, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects, best way to give, and best dose of topotecan when given by intraventricular infusion in treating young patients with neoplastic meningitis due to leukemia, lymphoma, or solid tumors.

NCT01378572
With the present study the investigators intend to identify the morphologic and electrophysiologic substrate markers of increased arrhythmic risk in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy undergoing implantation of a defibrillator for the primary prevention of sudden cardiac death. Moreover, the investigators also aim to identify if there is any electrophysiological substrate modification at the time of the first arrhythmic event in these patients. To this aim, the investigators will prospectively correlate electroanatomic mapping and cardiac magnetic resonance findings with arrhythmic events, in order to identify substrate markers of increased arrhythmic risk in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, who are therefore more likely to benefit from a defibrillator implantation. Furthermore, electroanatomic mapping will be repeated at the time of the first arrhythmic event and compared with that at baseline, in order to evaluate any electrophysiological substrate changes.
