NCT00525148
The primary objective of this open-label, single arm Phase II trial is to explore the efficacy of BIBW 2992 defined by the objective response rate (CR, PR) as determined by RECIST criteria in patients with advanced NSCLC Stage IIIB or IV whose tumors harbor activating mutations within exon 18 to exon 21 of the EGFR receptor. Patients progressing or relapsing after one prior cytotoxic chemotherapy regimen as well as chemotherapy naïve patients (only in stage 2) will be allowed to enter into the trial.
NCT00274677
This study is an 8-week evaluation of an investigational drug for treating depression in bipolar patients. Depressed patients will be given either an investigational drug or placebo and receive psychiatric assessments of their depression at weekly visits. Study drug and all study-related visits are provided at no cost to the patient. The patient agrees to meet with study research staff for roughly 11 clinic visits.
NCT00312286
The purpose of this study was to evaluate efficacy of 851B gel over a range of concentrations and dosing regimens on high-risk cervical human papillomavirus infection in women.
NCT01734915
The purpose of this research study is to determine if the EGFR mutation can be detected in CTCs. CTCs are cancer cells that are shed from solid tumors and float freely in the bloodstream. A device called the CTC-chip has been developed to find CTCs in the blood of patients with cancer. This is an experimental device. Using this device, the investigators will test participants' blood to try and find CTCs with the EGFR mutation and compare them with the results from the biopsy your doctor has recommended. The long-term goal of this research is to develop a way to test for the EGFR mutation that is less invasive than a tumor biopsy.
NCT01532869
This multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, two-arm, parallel-group study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of RoActemra/Actemra (tocilizumab) in participants with systemic sclerosis. Participants will be randomized to receive either RoActemra/Actemra 162 mg subcutaneously weekly or placebo for 48 weeks. From Week 48 to Week 96, all participants will receive open-label RoActemra/Actemra 162 mg subcutaneously weekly. Anticipated time on study treatment is 96 weeks.
NCT02084628
This is an open-label, multi-center study involving babies 0-2 months of age who have liver problems (pathology) and need to have their liver and possibly, the bile ducts imaged using magnetic resonance imaging and injection of a contrast agent (dye). This agent is called Eovist. It has been marketed since 2004 and used in many countries all over the world. The baby will have blood tests before and after the imaging is done to make sure that there are no unexpected findings before and after the imaging. Also 3 blood samples up to 8 hours after the injection will be obtained in order to measure how much of the dye is in the blood. The baby will have an intravenous line which can be used for the blood samples and will not need to be stick for the blood samples. Several radiologists will evaluate the images. The family doctor will be contacted to find out what was the diagnosis and treatment after the results of the MRI were known. Six months after the study, the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) will be contacted to make sure the that baby did not have any problems, especially with the skin, joints and eyes.
NCT00264615
Pharmacokinetic (PK) study to characterize changes in serum concentrations in epilepsy patients when switching from LAMICTAL immediate-release to extended-release and vice versa.
NCT00196313
This study is being conducted to evaluate the effects of treatment with Seasonique an extended-regimen oral contraceptive that utilizes low dose ethinyl estradiol during the typical hormone-free interval. Patients will receive 13 weeks of treatment with the option to extend blinded therapy for an additional 13 weeks. The overall study duration will be 6-9 months. Patients will be required to record menstrual pain in a daily diary.
NCT00006429
This is a trial to test whether treadmill training can be used to improve the "walking" of patients with partial spinal cord injury. While on the treadmill, patients will be partially supported through the use of a specially designed harness attached to an overhead lift (also called Body Weight Supported Treadmill Training, BWSTT). Patients who enroll in this study will be randomly assigned to either the experimental group, which receives 12 weeks of this specialized treadmill training with regular physical therapy, or to the control group, which receives 12 weeks regular physical therapy. The ability of the patients to "walk" will be measured before and after treatment as well as 6 and 12 months later, using standard tests that examine mobility independence and speed of ambulation. The trial takes place across five sites in the US and Canada. Patients eligible for this trial will have had a traumatic spinal cord injury within 8 weeks of trial entry.
NCT01687257
This study will evaluate the antiviral efficacy of combination therapy with sofosbuvir (SOF) plus ribavirin (RBV) for 48 weeks in adults with compensated and decompensated chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Approximately 50 adults will be randomized (1:1) to receive study drug for 48 weeks or take part in an untreated observational arm for the first 24 weeks followed by study drug for another 48 weeks.
NCT01283048
BKM-120 is a drug that may slow the growth of cancer cells. This drug has been used in laboratory experiments and information from those research studies suggests that this drug may help to slow the growth of renal cancer cells. In this research study, the investigators are testing the safety to BKM-120 at different dose levels. The investigators will also be studying how well tolerated BKM-120 is, and how effective BKM-120 can be in the treatment of kidney cancer.
NCT00463294
I. Main Research Question: * To compare the risks and benefits of Off-pump Coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) to On-pump CABG and to determine if one is better than the other. * The purpose of this pilot study is also to see the rate of recruitment with expertise-based randomization across different hospital settings. II. Small RCT studies and meta-analyses done so far have not been able to conclusively say which of the procedure is better. A large randomized study is required to establish the risks and benefits associated with both the off-pump and on-pump CABG surgical procedures. III. The study will look at which of the two techniques reduce major risks associated with CABG.
NCT00684229
This study will compare recurrence rates in patients with colorectal cancer who will be randomly assigned to epidural anesthesia/analgesia combined with general anesthesia or to general anesthesia followed by opioid analgesia.
NCT00224471
Evaluate, one month after the third dose, the lot-to-lot consistency of 3 different commercial scale production lots of the candidate vaccine in healthy HSV 1-/2- females aged 10-17 years, determined by ELISA. Absence in significant variation for both parameters among the tested lots was hypothesized.
NCT02037763
This is a prospective observational cohort multinational clinical study. There are no biomarkers to help predict in which patients acute low back pain (LBP) will transform into chronic low back pain (CLBP). Human variability and different common comorbidities complicate the picture and make stratification of patients into correct subgroups difficult. However, drugs act by targeting specific molecular pathways and are therefore efficient only in a subgroup of patients sharing common molecular pathology and common genetics. Both CLBP and disc degeneration are known to be heritable. Little investigation has taken place for genetic variants in CLBP. The main aim of this trial is to identify "omics biomarkers" associated with the transition from acute (single episode of low back pain) to persistent/chronic LBP (pain lasting more than 12 weeks).
NCT00133848
The goal of this study is to determine if topical SB-275833 ointment, 1% is more effective than a placebo ointment in the treatment of primary impetigo.
