PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is comparing two regimens of zoledronate plus calcium and vitamin D to see how well they work in preventing bone loss in women who are receiving adjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer.

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic disease of unknown cause that results in scarring of the lung and there is a high unmet medical need for effective treatment to halt lung function decline, delay or avoid exacerbation (flare-ups), and ultimately to reduce the death rate. In a large Phase 2 trial (1199.30) (NCT00514683), investigating the effects of 52 weeks of treatment with BIBF 1120 in patients with IPF, a positive effect was seen on lung function of patients treated with high dose of BIBF 1120 compared to placebo. Hence it is the purpose of this trial to investigate and confirm the efficacy and safety of BIBF 1120 at a high dose in treating patients with IPF, compared with placebo. The trial will be conducted as a prospective, randomised design with the aim to collect safety and efficacy data. Respiratory function is globally accepted for assessment of treatment effects in IPF patients. The chosen endpoint (Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) decline) is easy to obtain and is part of the usual examinations done in IPF patients.

RATIONALE: Epoetin alfa may stimulate red blood cell production and treat anemia in patients with solid tumors. It is not yet known whether epoetin alfa given once a week is more effective than epoetin alfa given once every 3 weeks in treating anemia. This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of RoActemra/Actemra (tocilizumab) in patients with active systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA) who have an inadequate clinical response to NSAIDs and corticosteroids. In Part I of the study patients will be randomized 2:1 to receive iv infusions of RoActemra/Actemra (8mg/kg iv for patients \>=30kg, or 12mg/kg for patients \<30kg) or placebo, every 2 weeks. Stable NSAIDs and methotrexate will be continued throughout. After 12 weeks of double-blind treatment, all patients will have the option to enter Part II of the study to receive open-label treatment with RoActemra/Actemra for a further 92 weeks, followed by a 3-year continuation of the study in Part III in which, for patients who meet specific criteria, an optional alternative dosing schedule decreasing the study drug administration frequency will be introduced. Anticipated time on study treatment is up to 5 years.

RATIONALE: Learning about the long-term effects of adjuvant tamoxifen (T), adjuvant tamoxifen with ovarian function suppression (T+OFS), and exemestane with ovarian function suppression (E+ OFS) on brain function may help doctors plan cancer treatment. This study will aims to determine the maximum tolerated dose of CGC-11047 when used in individual combinations with gemcitabine, or docetaxel, or bevacizumab, or erlotinib or cisplatin or 5-flurouracil or sunitinib in one of 7 treatment arms. This randomized, double-blind, multi-center Phase IIb/III trial will be performed in patients with NSCLC who have received previous treatment with at least one but not more than two lines of cytotoxic chemotherapy (one line must have been a platinum-containing regimen) and either gefitinib or erlotinib for a period of at least 12 weeks and then progressed. The primary objective of this randomized trial is to determine the efficacy of BIBW 2992 as a single agent (Arm A) as compared to a matching placebo (Arm B) in this patient population. Patients on both treatment arms will receive best supportive care in addition to study treatment. Patients enrolled into the trial will be treated and followed until death or lost to follow-up.

Subjects with cardiac disorders will be tested in the sleep laboratory with a conventional full-night PSG recording along with WP 200/WP200U ambulatory sleep diagnostic device in a synchronized manner. The PSG data will be scored manually by a trained polysomnographic scorer, according to standard criteria for this clinical routine. The data obtained by the WP200/WP200U will be analyzed automatically for RDI, AHI, sleep stages, snoring (optional) and body position (optional), in addition to parameters specific to cardiac subjects. The analysis will be performed by the WP200/WP200U software (zzzPAT) and will be compared to the PSG's manual scoring which serves as a "Gold Standard".
