NCT01064505
This is an open-label, dose escalation, safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetic study, where active study drug (QPI-1007) will be given to all patients who participate. This study will determine whether QPI-1007 is safe when it is injected into the eye. The study will also reveal if there are any side effects of the drug and how long it takes for the body to clear the drug.
NCT00363051
The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of everolimus in the treatment of advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (NET) not responsive to cytotoxic chemotherapy. All patients were treated with everolimus until either tumor progression was documented using a standard criteria that measures tumor size called Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid tumors (RECIST), or until unacceptable toxicity occurred, or until the patient or investigator requested discontinuation of treatment.
NCT00083304
RSR13 (efaproxiral) is a radiation sensitizer that has shown positive results in a Phase 3, randomized clinical trial of patients with brain metastases. Of 111 eligible breast cancer patients with brain metastases in that trial, 59 patients who received RSR13 prior to radiation therapy had a median survival time that was twice as long as the 52 patients who did not receive RSR13 prior to radiation therapy. RSR13 (efaproxiral) is an experimental drug that increases the amount of oxygen released from blood into the tissues. It is well known that certain types of cancer tumors, including those in brain metastases, lack oxygen. Lack of oxygen in a tumor can reduce the effect of radiation therapy (RT). RSR13 may increase the oxygen level in brain tumors so that radiation therapy works better. This study will enroll up to 360 women with brain metastases from breast cancer, and will evaluate if whole brain radiation therapy given with RSR13 will have a better treatment effect than whole brain radiation therapy alone. RSR13 will be infused intravenously (IV) through a central catheter placed in a central vein. Women randomized (assigned) to receive RSR13, therefore, will need to have a central catheter placed for treatment unless one is already in place.
NCT00612573
Randomized, multi-center, double-blind, placebo-controlled 12-week study to assess the safety and efficacy of 3 doses of an oral formulation of Doxycycline oral tablets using the Investigator's Global Assessment (IGA) score and the absolute change from baseline in inflammatory lesion count in patients with moderate to severe facial acne vulgaris. Additionally, the absolute change from baseline in non-inflammatory and total lesions of the active study medication to placebo will be evaluated.
NCT00035893
This is an open-label, prospective, randomized, controlled study of the safety and efficacy including clinical, immunologic, and virologic assessments of adding Ampligen to a Strategic Therapeutic Intervention (STI) of HAART in patients with plasma HIV RNA \< 50 copies/ml (PCR) and CD4 levels \> 400.
NCT00909545
The primary purpose of this study is to establish a dosage of isradipine CR that is tolerable and demonstrates preliminary efficacy for utilization in future pivotal efficacy studies.
NCT01338870
B2611003 is designed to study how safe and effective an investigational medication (PF-04991532) is in people with Type 2 diabetes. Subjects in the study will receive 1 of 6 treatments for 3 months. One of the treatments will be sitagliptin which is an approved drug, and another treatment will be placebo, which does not contain active ingredient.
NCT00077857
This 2 arm study compared the efficacy and safety of label dose of capecitabine (Xeloda®) to that of a lower dose of Xeloda® plus docetaxel (Taxotere®) in patients with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer after failure of chemotherapy with an anthracycline. Patients were randomized to receive either 1250 mg/m\^2 or 825 mg/m\^2 orally twice a day (po bid) on days 1-14 of each 3 week cycle, in combination with Taxotere® 75 mg/m2 intravenous (iv) on day 1 of each 3 week cycle. The anticipated time on study treatment was until disease progression and the target sample size was 440 individuals.
NCT00541658
The purpose of this trial is to study the efficacy of a 35 mg delayed release weekly dosing regimen as compared to the standard daily dosing regimen of risedronate 5 mg daily.
NCT00004188
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying peripheral stem cell transplantation with treated peripheral stem cells following combination chemotherapy to see how well it works compared to peripheral stem cell transplantation with untreated peripheral stem cells following combination chemotherapy in treating patients with neuroblastoma.
NCT00035581
This is an open-label, prospective, randomized, controlled study of the safety and efficacy including clinical, immunologic, and virologic assessments of adding Ampligen to "HAART" in HIV infected patients with CD4 counts \>300 and HIV-1 plasma RNA \>500 and \<30,000 copies/ml (PCR).
NCT01444365
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of ABT-652 in combination with a Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug (NSAID) compared to NSAID alone in adults with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee.
NCT00919113
A new device for interstitial cystitis is compared to inactive control to determine if it is safe and effective. The study lasts approximately 7 weeks with a 19-week follow-up period.
NCT00097721
The purpose of this study is to determine if E7389 is a safe and effective treatment for advanced/metastatic breast cancer.
NCT01189227
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to kill tumor cells or stop them from growing. Giving combination chemotherapy before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. Giving combination chemotherapy after surgery may kill any remaining tumor cells. It is not yet known whether giving combination chemotherapy before and after surgery is more effective than giving combination chemotherapy after surgery. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying giving combination chemotherapy before and after surgery to see how well it works compared to giving combination chemotherapy after surgery in treating patients with colorectal cancer with liver metastases that could be removed by surgery.
NCT00003908
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of docetaxel plus carboplatin in treating patients who have metastatic or recurrent head and neck cancer.
NCT00031499
The purpose of this study is to determine if azithromycin, a drug approved for treatment of other infections, is as effective for syphilis (a sexually transmitted disease) as the standard treatment. Approximately 600 healthy adults, who are HIV-negative, ages 18 to 55 years of age, with primary, secondary or early latent syphilis, will participate in this research study. Volunteers will be enrolled in 5 U.S. cities and in Madagascar. Participants will be chosen randomly (by chance) to receive 1 of 2 study drugs: benzathine penicillin given (2 shots in the buttocks) or 4 tablets of azithromycin. Subjects who report a history of a penicillin allergy will be given either 2.0 g of oral azithromycin or 100 mg doxycycline taken orally, twice a day for 14 days. Over 2 years, 10 visits will be required. Procedures will include blood samples, physical exams, and swabs of sores.
NCT00098059
This study will evaluate the safety and blood levels of a new pediatric formulation of Famvir in children 1-12 years of age. In Part A, patients will receive a single dose of famciclovir (12.5 mg/kg) to assess pharmacokinetics (PK) and safety. In Part B, patients will receive multiple doses of famciclovir alone or with concomitant oral anti-herpes therapy to assess safety and tolerability. Part B will start only after PK data from Part A had been analyzed.
