RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of irofulven in treating patients who have persistent or recurrent refractory endometrial cancer.
NCT00002717
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known which chemotherapy regimen is more effective for ovarian or peritoneal cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of two regimens of paclitaxel plus cisplatin in treating patients who have residual disease after surgery to remove stage III or stage IV ovarian cancer or primary peritoneal cancer.
NCT00714870
We are currently experiencing an epidemic of obesity in the Pediatric Population. This epidemic affects many areas including quality of life. We have been conducting a nutrition and exercise program since 2003. We have noticed that many of the participants seem to have a better quality of life after finishing the one year program compared to when they started. We would like to objectively quantify this improvement using a validated questionnaire at the beginning and at the end of the study. Questionnaires will be given to participants and to their caretakers at the same time. There will be two groups in the study: one intervention (minimum attendance of 4 sessions) and one control group.
NCT00003694
Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of homoharringtonine plus low-dose cytarabine in treating patients who have newly diagnosed chronic phase chronic myelogenous leukemia. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more cancer cells.
NCT00032240
This trial will test shoe inserts for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, the most common form of knee arthritis. Those with disease on the inner (medial) aspect of the knee will be studied.
NCT01092559
This is an open label phase 2 pilot study designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability and device performance of the GeNO nitrosyl delivery system during right heart catheterization (RHC) in participants with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). All participants will receive inhaled nitric oxide in oxygen or nitric oxide in air delivered by nasal cannula. Hemodynamics, clinical laboratory and clinical assessment data will be collected on all participants to evaluate safety.
NCT00073424
Taking anti-HIV medication consistently and properly is a critical issue for patients with HIV. Drug regimens are complex; when regimens are not taken properly, HIV can become resistant to the drugs. Taking anti-HIV medication properly leads to improved health. Children and adolescents with HIV face unique challenges to taking HIV medication properly. This study will look at the relationship between how children cope with the responsibility for taking medication and the child's language, memory, attention, behavior, and academic skills. This study is open to children and adolescents who are currently enrolled in the PACTG 219C study (Long-Term Effects of HIV Exposure and Infection in Children).
NCT00003992
Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of chemotherapy with paclitaxel and the monoclonal antibody trastuzumab followed by chemotherapy in treating women who have stage II or stage IIIA breast cancer that overexpresses HER2. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies can locate tumor cells and deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Combining monoclonal antibody therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells.
NCT00002556
This randomized phase III clinical trial studies combination chemotherapy with high dose cyclophosphamide and recombinant interferon alfa-2b to see how well it works compared to combination chemotherapy alone in treating patients with previously untreated stage I-III multiple myeloma. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as vincristine sulfate, carmustine, melphalan, cyclophosphamide, and prednisone, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Recombinant interferon alfa-2b may interfere with the growth of cancer cells. It is not yet know whether giving combination chemotherapy with or without alternating high-dose cyclophosphamide and recombinant interferon alfa-2b is more effective in treating multiple myeloma.
NCT01864694
The aim of this study is to compare a Web-based system and a computer telephone system to determine their effectiveness in improving diet behaviors compared to each other and a control group.
NCT00006345
RATIONALE: Denileukin diftitox may be able to deliver cancer-killing substances directly to T-cell lymphoma cells. Dexamethasone may decrease the side effects of denileukin diftitox. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of dexamethasone in preventing side effects following treatment with denileukin diftitox in treating patients who have persistent or recurrent T-cell lymphoma.
NCT00672633
The investigators will conduct a randomized clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of Lovaza (formerly known as Omacor) in reducing triglyceride levels in youth ages 10-19 years old whose baseline triglycerides range from 150 mg/dl to 1000 mg/dl. Seventy subjects will be recruited at baseline and randomized to the treatment condition, Lovaza 4 grams/day for 6 months or the control condition, a corn oil placebo, 4 tablets a day for 6 months. Participants in both the treatment and control groups will receive the standard of care, which is dietary advice to follow a low, refined carbohydrate and low saturated fat diet that emphasizes increasing intake of fruits and vegetables and eating 2 servings per week of fishes rich in omega-3 fatty acids, consistent with the American Heart Association recommendations. The primary outcome will be change in fasting triglycerides from baseline to 3 months. The investigators hypothesize that patients who receive LOVAZA will have significantly greater reductions in plasma triglyceride levels when compared to patients on placebo at 3 months.
NCT01256515
The goal of this study is to assess the immunogenicity of inactivated influenza vaccination (IIV) in healthy elderly volunteers aged 50 years and older receiving one of two different health management trainings.
