NCT00930553
This open-label, rater-blinded extension study enrolled participants who had relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) and who participated in one of three prior Genzyme-sponsored studies of alemtuzumab (CAMMS223 \[NCT00050778\], CAMMS323 \[NCT00530348\] also known as CARE-MS I, or CAMMS324 \[NCT00548405\] also known as CARE-MS II). The purposes of this study were: 1. To examine the long term safety and efficacy of alemtuzumab treatment in participants who received alemtuzumab as their study treatment in one of the prior studies. 2. To examine the safety and efficacy of initial alemtuzumab treatment in this study for participants who received Rebif® (interferon beta-1a) as their study treatment in one of the prior studies. 3. To determine the safety and efficacy of additional "as needed" alemtuzumab treatment courses. This applied both to participants who received alemtuzumab for the first time in one of the prior studies or for the first time in this extension study.
NCT00304707
Smoking is often a problem for alcohol dependent individuals. Many people who seek treatment for alcohol dependence are unable to quit smoking. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of bupropion, an antidepressant medication, in treating smokers receiving treatment for alcohol dependence.
NCT00559013
Purpose of the study is to assess the utility of PSD Veritas as a staple line reinforcement to minimize the risk of leakage during or after colo-rectal surgery.
NCT00868751
The purpose of this study is to see if tocilizumab is safe and effective for treating systemic onset Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (soJIA). Another purpose is to see if tocilizumab helps reduce the amount of steroids (prednisone) needed to control symptoms of soJIA.
NCT02202759
The purpose of this study is to assess the efficacy, safety and tolerability of MLN0264 in patients with recurrent or metastatic guanylyl cyclase C (GCC)-positive adenocarcinoma of the stomach or gastroesophageal junction.
NCT01070810
The major goal of this project is to determine whether the use of thiamine in patients with septic shock will result in attenuation of lactic acidosis and a more rapid reversal of shock.
NCT02279420
This is a multicenter, un-blinded, open label, pivotal supplemental study to G130163 intended to evaluate the safety and efficacy of treating previous sham subjects in the Essential pivotal trial (IDE#G130163) with the active treatment (the placement of g-Cath EZ suture anchors along with diet and exercise). Compliant sham subjects (those who attended all primary IDE follow-up visits AND who continue to meet eligibility criteria as described in this protocol) will be offered this active treatment after their 12 month unblinding visit in the Essential pivotal trial.
NCT01892306
The specific goal of this research study is to investigate the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of a transdiagnostic, cognitive-behavioral therapy developed specifically to target common core processes across mood and anxiety disorders \[Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP)\], for the treatment of patients with bipolar I disorder (BD-I) and comorbid anxiety. The study will compare treatment-as-usual with pharmacotherapy (TAU) plus 18 one-hour sessions of treatment with the UP to TAU alone. Patients in both treatment conditions will be followed over a 12-month period and will be assessed monthly to track changes in mood, anxiety and emotion-related symptoms; functional impairment; and relapse rates. Data on the acceptability of the treatment will be gathered concurrently through monthly patient self-reported ratings of treatment satisfaction, and by tracking rates of acceptance for randomization into the study, number of completed sessions, and dropout rates. The study will examine: 1) whether combined cognitive behavioral treatment (UP) for BD-I and comorbid anxiety disorders is an acceptable and feasible approach to treatment; 2) whether treatment with the UP for BD-I and comorbid anxiety disorders as an adjunct to pharmacotherapy treatment-as-usual (TAU) leads to greater symptom reduction and reduced functional impairment than pharmacotherapy alone, 3) whether treatment for BD-I and comorbid anxiety disorders with the UP improves relapse rates over a 6-month follow-up relative to TAU; and 4) whether reduction in symptoms, relapse rates, and functional impairment are mediated by changes in emotion regulation skills. The broader aim of this study is to address the need for improved treatments for bipolar disorder.
NCT00140244
The purpose of this study is to examine whether replacing leptin to normal levels can reverse the changes in fat distribution, lipid profile, and other metabolic problems associated with highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART)-induced lipodystrophy and metabolic syndrome in HIV patients.
NCT01003990
The purpose of this study is to provide atazanavir or tenofovir-emtricitabine to HIV-infected subjects who have completed atazanavir or tenofovir-emtricitabine therapy on a previous BMS sponsored clinical trial and to collect long-term safety information on the treated population.
NCT00759772
Decreased bone strength is a common and serious medical problem present in many women with anorexia nervosa, or disordered eating. Women with decreased bone strength are more likely to suffer broken bones than women with normal bone strength. We are investigating whether a hormone that is naturally produced by the human body -- parathyroid hormone (PTH) -- can help strengthen the bones of women with anorexia nervosa.
NCT00948688
The durg vorinostat (Zolinza) is a type of drug called an histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. It inhibits a group of enzymes called histone deacetylases. These enzymes help cancer cells survive. By inhibiting these enzymes, vorinostat helps kill cancer cells. In this research study vorinostat will be given along with radiation therapy and the drug 5-FU. This is the first research study in which vorinostat will be given along with radiation therapy and 5-FU. The purpose of this research study is to find the highest dose of vorinostat that can be given safely along with radiation therapy and 5-FU. The investigators will also begin to get information about whether vorinostat combined with radiation and 5-FU may help to treat pancreatic cancer.
NCT01821118
Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy (CAA) is a condition caused by the build-up of a protein called amyloid, predominantly Aβ40, within the walls of brain blood vessels, especially those blood vessels in the occipital lobe of the brain. Probable CAA may be defined as two or more hemorrhages in the brain cortex in individuals 55 years of age or older. This study will examine the study drug (PF-04360365) vs. placebo (saline) at 10 mg/kg - Day 1 and the maintenance dose of the study drug (PF-04360365) vs. placebo (saline) at 7.5mg/kg on Days 30 and 60. Subjects will be followed for 6 months after receiving the last dose of study medication.
NCT00706914
This exploratory study will compare the efficacy of the fixed-dose combination (FDC) of aclidinium bromide and formoterol fumarate once daily in the morning and placebo once in the evening vs. the FDC once daily in the morning and formoterol fumarate once in the evening vs. formoterol fumarate twice daily. The study will assess pulmonary function and symptoms in patients with moderate to severe COPD.
NCT01848054
The purpose of the study was to assess the efficacy of induction treatment with buprenorphine/naloxone (BNX) sublingual tablet s compared with induction treatment with buprenorphine only. The hypothesis is that starting directly on OX219 works equally well (e.g. not significantly worse) as starting on buprenorphine only and switching to OX219 on Day 3.
NCT01606007
The purpose of this study is to learn if a combination of BMS-477118 (Saxagliptin) and BMS -512148 (Dapagliflozin) added to Metformin can improve (decrease) Glycosylated Hemoglobin (Hemoglobin A1c) in patients with type 2 diabetes after 24 weeks of treatment. The safety of this treatment will also be studied.
