NCT05407805
The purpose of this clinical trial is to evaluate the performance of the sickle cell disease (SCD) electronic diary in people with SCD who are on treatment that will change SCD and those not on such a treatment. SCD is a type of condition when there are fewer red blood cells to carry oxygen around the body. This disease can be passed on from parent to child and may cause pain, infections and damage to organs. This study is seeking participants who: * are confirmed with SCD * are on a stable regimen of disease changing treatment or have not received any disease changing treatment before the start of the study and do not plan any changes in their treatment during the 6-month study observation period For 6 months, participants will be asked to complete a daily electronic diary to report on their experience in the past 24 hours with sickle cell pain crisis (if they got any treatment and what medications they took), worst pain, worst tiredness, and their ability to perform usual physical activities. We will compare the experiences of people who are taking SCD-modifying therapy to those that are not taking a SCD-modifying therapy.
NCT04188041
This study explores primary care team members' knowledge, attitudinal, and skill gaps related to latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) testing and treatment. The gaps identified will inform the design of a survey and telementoring educational program (tuberculosis (TB) infection ECHO course). The EMR data query will further explore the reach of the expansion for community healthcare outcomes (ECHO) model. The hypothesis for this study is that the TB infection ECHO course will be feasible, will have a significant impact on primary care provider participants' learning and performance related to LTBI testing and treatment in their primary care practices, and will increase the number of LTBI tests and treatment prescribed in primary care.
NCT01296555
This is an open-label, multicenter, Phase I/II study to assess the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of GDC-0032. The Phase I portion will be divided into two stages. During Stage 1, GDC-0032 will be administered every day orally and at escalating doses in participants with locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors. During Stage 2, GDC-0032 will be administered alone or as combination therapy within indication-specific cohorts. In Phase II of the study, the efficacy and safety of the combination GDC-0032 and fulvestrant will be evaluated in post-menopausal female participants with locally advanced or metastatic human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

NCT05527899
Pneumonia is a major public health problem for the elderly and is one of the leading causes of hospitalization and death for this population, particularly for elderly nursing home residents. This planning grants seeks to establish a safe and effective dose of zinc supplementation with the goal to conduct a larger randomized clinical trial to study the effect of zinc supplementation in nursing home elderly with low serum zinc levels on the risk, antibiotic use, and duration of sick days with pneumonia. This project has significant potential to positively impact the health and quality of life in the elderly and to reduce the economic costs associated with their care.
NCT04996069
Xerostomia, is a subjective sensation of dryness of the mouth. There are more than 700 medications that can lead to the salivary hypofunction that results in dry mouth. This study will investigate a semi solid cohesive gel (referred to as Whitening Gel) that has the primary marketed purpose of teeth whitening. We theorize that the whitening gel's retention in the oral cavity is longer than rinse forms and this is likely to promote the flow of saliva by stimulating taste buds which could alleviate the sensation of dryness in the oral cavity. This will be a single center, two visit study investigating the effectiveness of dryness in the oral cavity, whiteness of teeth, and teeth sensitivity after one week's use of whitening agent.
NCT01876784
Primary Objective: To determine the efficacy (as assessed by progression-free survival \[PFS\]) of vandetanib when compared to placebo in participants with differentiated thyroid cancer that is either locally advanced or metastatic who are refractory or unsuitable for radioiodine therapy. Secondary Objectives: * To determine the efficacy of vandetanib when compared to placebo in this participant population as assessed by efficacy variables including duration of response (DOR), objective response rate (ORR), change in tumour size (TS) and overall survival (OS). * To evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK) of vandetanib in this participant population and potentially investigate any influence of participant demography and pathophysiology on vandetanib PK. * To demonstrate an improvement in time to worsening of pain (TWP) in participants treated with vandetanib when compared to placebo in this participant population. * To evaluate the safety and tolerability of vandetanib treatment in this participant population.
NCT06506968
The goal of this observational study is to quantify ergonomic risk associated with traditional protective equipment in operators working in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as compared with a mobile protection system. The main questions it aims to answer is: What is the mean time spent by operators in positions of high ergonomic postural risk during cases? Participants will wear IMU, EMG, and radiation sensors, as well as complete baseline and discomfort surveys for several catheterization procedures.
NCT00675935
The goal of our project is to prevent patient falls by translating an individual patient's fall risk assessment into a decision support intervention that communicates fall risk status, and creates a tailored evidence-based plan of care that will be accessible to members of the care team to prevent falls.
NCT04604899
The primary objective of the study is to assess the safety of repeat injection of human retinal progenitor cells (jCell) in adult subjects with RP that have previously been treated with jCell.
