Urodynamics are performed in the evaluation of urinary incontinence in women considering surgery or who have failed conservative therapies. Urodynamic testing requires the placement of small catheters into the bladder and the vagina or rectum. Many women experience anxiety around the procedure which can affect patient satisfaction. Lavender aromatherapy has been associated with decreased anxiety in a variety of clinical situations. The purpose of this study is to determine a difference in self-reported anxiety and pain levels before, during, and after multichannel urodynamics in patients given lavender aromatherapy versus placebo. This study design is a randomized control trial. Women scheduled for urodynamic testing at the Los Angeles County University of Southern California (LAC+USC) Urogynecology clinic will be invited to participate. Participants will be randomized to the aromatherapy or the placebo group after informed consent is obtained and immediately before undergoing multichannel urodynamics. The participants will complete the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Survey (HADS) at baseline. They will be asked to rate their level of anxiety and pain before, during, and 15 min after the study using the visual analogue scale and Wong-Baker pain scale. At the end the participants will also be asked to rate their satisfaction with the visit overall. The primary endpoint is defined as anxiety immediately after catheters are placed. Data will be entered into a coded database for analysis using the independent samples t test, the Mann-Whitney U test, and the chi square test. Intention to treat analysis will be used.

The purpose of this study is to determine if an investigational cell therapy called Cvac can help epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) from returning when administered to patients who are in complete remission after surgical removal of their tumor followed by standard first-line (Part A) or second-line (Part B) chemotherapy. Following remission, patients will undergo leukapheresis for the manufacture of the study agent. After completion of chemotherapy and confirmation of remission, patients will enter the treatment phase of the study.

The study will identify the efficacy of Apitox, purified honeybee toxin, in 330 patients with diagnosed osteoarthritis of the knee. The patient will be asked to participate in a research project designed to determine the best way to prevent bleeding and promote patient comfort after having kidney stones removed. Two standard methods for ending the surgery are being compared to a newer method. In one standard method, the patient will have a tube draining urine from the kidney after the procedure. This tube may also prevent bleeding from the kidney. In another standard method the patient will have a tube left internally that drains urine from the kidney to the bladder and a stitch will be used to close the incision and deeper tissues in the back. In the third potential option, a tube would be left internally to drain urine from the kidney to the patient's bladder and the surgical site would be filled with a clot promoting agent (FloSeal) which is a FDA approved agent specifically formulated to stop bleeding during surgical procedures.

Melanoma remains a malignancy that is largely resistant to chemotherapy. Metastatic disease responds poorly to the treatments used today with only 2 out of 30 drugs tested, DTIC and nitrosoureas, showing response rates greater than 10%, and complete responses are rare. DTIC-based regimen has been recognized as a standard chemotherapy for advanced melanoma, and temozolomide demonstrated efficacy equal to that of DTIC and is an oral alternative agent that also crosses the blood brain barrier. Randomized phase III trials have shown no survival benefit of adding other agents (cisplatin, BCNU, and tamoxifen). Biochemotherapy is being developed extensively with moderate improvement in the responsive rate (approximately 50%) and is under evaluation in randomized trial to identify whether there is survival benefit to this strategy, compared with chemotherapy alone. Recently, a randomized phase III study comparing chemotherapy (cisplatin, dacarbazine, and tamoxifen) with biochemotherapy (the same chemotherapy regimen plus high-dose IL-2 and interferon alfa) have shown 44% response rate for biochemotherapy vs. 27% for chemotherapy. However, the tendency toward an increased response rate in patients who received biochemotherapy did not translate into an increase in overall survival, and there was, in fact, a trend for a survival advantage in patients receiving chemotherapy alone (median survival: 10.7 vs 15.8 months). New agents (or combinations) need to be developed for this refractory malignancy. The purpose of this study is to determine the response rate and evaluate the toxicity of disulfiram (DSF) in the treatment of Stage IV melanoma. The advantages of using DSF in this phase I/II trial are the following: * DSF has been used as a drug for many years for the treatment of alcoholism. Its mechanism, pharmacokinetics, toxicity/tolerable dose are well known, and this drug is relatively non-toxic by itself at therapeutic dose. Doses of greater than 3000mg/m2 can cause reversible confusion. * DSF can be taken orally; therefore, it is convenient to administer. * DSF can penetrate the blood-brain barrier (unlike dacarbazine and many other chemotherapy agents); therefore, it might have an active effect on CNS metastasis. This study is designed to include women and minorities, but is not designed to measure differences of intervention effect.

The objective of the study is to demonstrate non-inferiority of stem revision rate in subjects implanted with the REDAPT™ System with a revision rate of less than 9.8% at the 5 year mark assuming an observed rate of 6.5% at 5 years. Additional data will be collected as outcomes of safety and effectiveness data up to 10 years post REDAPT revision surgery.

This is an international, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study. All eligible patients entering the open label phase of the study will receive a single immediate instillation of apaziquone (4 mg in 40 mL diluent), post transurethral resection-bladder tumor (TURBT). Following Central Pathology review of histology and Double Blind Phase qualification, patients with confirmed eligibility will be randomized to receive either 6 weekly intravesical instillations of apaziquone or matching placebo and undergo cystoscopic and safety assessments every 3 months for 24 months from randomization. Patients with histologic evidence of recurrent disease during the study will be treated according to current treatment guidelines or local standard of care. Safety and efficacy assessments will be performed at 3 month intervals for all randomized patients throughout the study. Patients who receive single dose of apaziquone immediately following TURBT and are not eligible for randomization will be followed for 3 months by cystoscopic exam and safety assessments.
