NCT00527735
The purpose of the study is to determine whether ipilimumab given with paclitaxel/carboplatin has clinical benefit when compared with paclitaxel/carboplatin alone in patients with previously untreated lung cancer.
NCT01006252
The primary purpose of this study was to see how tasisulam-sodium affected metastatic melanoma when compared against paclitaxel as measured by overall survival.
NCT00552305
The purpose of this trial is to determine whether lacosamide is safe and effective for long-term use in patients with partial-seizures from epilepsy.
NCT02158390
Children with Down syndrome (DS) have greater difficulty acquiring expressive language than is predicted by their general cognitive abilities and language comprehension (Miller, 1999). To date, interventions to improve communication outcomes for children with DS have met with only modest success. The proposed study is a randomized controlled trial of an early communication intervention combining two evidence-based treatments that teach expressive communication (Enhanced Milieu Teaching; EMT) and joint attention/symbolic play (Joint Attention Symbolic Play Engagement and Regulation; JASPER) using a dual mode (words +AAC). The intervention (a) teaches the foundations of communication (joint attention, play), (b) builds on positive child characteristics of social attention, (c) uses naturalistic strategies to increase the rate and complexity of communication and increase task engagement, (d) addresses the potential value of adding visual support (AAC) to spoken communication, and (e) includes parents as implementers of the intervention to promote generalization across settings and activities, and to ensure maintenance over time. It is hypothesized that children with DS enrolled in the intervention will have better language and communication skills at the end of treatment and followup than children in the BAU comparison group. The study will enroll 82 30 to 54 month old children with DS who have fewer than 20 words. Examining predictors of response to treatment and the effects of treatment on executive functioning will inform both theory and practice.
NCT01056393
This protocol serves to extend the successful treatment for HIV positive patients beyond the endpoints provided by the Phase 2b TaiMed Biologics-sponsored protocol TMB202 (entitled "A Phase 2b Randomized, Double-Blinded, 48-Week, Multicenter, Dose-Response Study of Ibalizumab Plus an Optimized Background Regimen in Treatment-Experienced Patients Infected with HIV-1 (Amended to 24 Week Study)"), for 24 weeks. Ibalizumab may be administered beyond 24 weeks under this protocol as supply permits and patients continue to demonstrate virologic response.
NCT02321618
African-American men suffer more than most other groups from hypertension (HTN) but often have less access and less contact with doctors. Previous work by the study's Principal Investigator in Dallas, Texas, and Altadena, California, showed that barbershops are an excellent place to identify black men with high blood pressure and to enlist the aid of their barbers as healthcare extenders. The purpose of this study in Metro Los Angeles (LA) is to compare two types of barber-based patient-centered blood pressure programs to see which type is more effective in improving the customers' high blood pressure. One type emphasizes blood pressure medication and the other type emphasizes lifestyle modification for high blood pressure.
NCT00910247
This is a long term, open-label, safety extension study in subjects with partial onset seizures.
NCT02316275
To determine the impact of unrestricted postoperative activity on intermediate- and long-term continence outcomes of mid-urethral sling surgery in women with stress urinary incontinence. To assess the natural return to baseline activity level when patients are unrestricted following mid-urethral sling surgery with or without concomitant anterior or posterior pelvic organ prolapse repair.
NCT01000974
The purpose of this study is to evaluate safety, to demonstrate lot-to-lot consistency of the vaccine, to address the relevant concomitant vaccine administrations and to provide a comparison between GSK Biologicals' Hib conjugate vaccine and the licensed monovalent Hib vaccine ActHIB as well as the licensed combination product Pentacel in infants at 2, 4, 6 and 15-18 months of age. This study is designed with a primary and a booster phase.
NCT00699283
Antiepileptic Drugs (AEDs) are the main treatment for epilepsy; however, only a limited number of AEDs are approved for use as monotherapy. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of BRV in the conversion of partial onset seizure patients from combination treatment to monotherapy.
NCT00819585
The 24-week, dose-ranging, multi-center, double-blind, double-dummy, active-controlled core study investigated the prophylactic effect of canakinumab on the signs and symptoms of acute flares in chronic gout patients initiating allopurinol therapy. The core study was followed by a 24-week open-label, multicenter extension study to assess the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of canakinumab in patients with gout who were given canakinumab at the time of gout flare.
NCT02401412
Hollister Incorporated is studying stoma related cost of care related to a new ostomy skin barrier that is designed to maintain adhesive properties and good peristomal skin health compared to other currently marketed barriers.
NCT01921751
This randomized phase II trial studies how well high or standard intensity radiochemotherapy after gemcitabine hydrochloride and paclitaxel albumin-stabilized nanoparticle formulation (nab-paclitaxel) work compared with gemcitabine hydrochloride and nab-paclitaxel alone in treating patients with pancreatic cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine hydrochloride and nab-paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing or by stopping them from spreading. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs, such as capecitabine, may make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Giving radiation therapy in different ways and adding chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether high intensity radiochemotherapy after gemcitabine hydrochloride and nab-paclitaxel is more effective than standard intensity radiochemotherapy after gemcitabine hydrochloride and nab-paclitaxel or gemcitabine hydrochloride and nab-paclitaxel alone in treating pancreatic cancer.
NCT00091091
RATIONALE: Assessing the long-term effects of cancer treatment in cancer survivors may help improve the ability to plan effective treatment and follow-up care. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying the long-term effects of treatment in patients who were previously treated for childhood Hodgkin's lymphoma.
NCT02066129
The objective of this study is to determine whether, in children receiving low-dose inhaled corticosteroids (ICS), quintupling the dose of inhaled corticosteroids at the onset of symptoms previously associated with upper respiratory illnesses and subsequent asthma exacerbations reduces the rate of severe asthma exacerbations treated with oral corticosteroids.
NCT01118949
The purpose is to assess the safety of Lacosamide in subjects with uncontrolled Primary Generalized Tonic-Clonic (PGTC) seizures with Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy.
NCT03583918
This is a prospective, multi-center, pilot study evaluating effectiveness of micro-excisional skin remodeling by micro-coring skin in subjects meeting the Inclusion Criteria. Subjects will undergo bilateral treatment on the face and neck (upper and lower cheek, upper and lower lip, periocular and perioral areas, submandibular and middle neck, etc). The exact treatment area(s), choice of treatment density are left to the Investigator's discretion and subject's consent. Up to 3 treatments are allowed with a minimum of 30-day between the consecutive treatments.
NCT00992225
The primary purpose of this study is to determine the objective response rate (complete and partial response) for patients who receive LY573636-sodium for metastatic breast cancer.
NCT00282035
To determine if Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation, using 3D CRT, is as effective as Whole Breast Irradiation following breast conserving surgery in women with an new histological diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ only or invasive breast cancer without evidence of metastatic disease. Effectiveness will be determined by the rate of ipsilateral breast tumour recurrence. General objective is to improve the convenience and quality of life of female patients who receive breast irradiation.
