The objectives of this program are: to characterize and describe the Mucopolysaccharidosis IV type A (MPS IVA) population as a whole, including the heterogeneity, progression, and natural history of MPS IVA; to evaluate the long-term effectiveness and safety of Vimizim®, including, but not limited to, the occurrence of serious hypersensitivity reactions, anaphylaxis, and changes in antibody status; to help the medical community with the development of recommendations for monitoring MPS IVA patients and reports on patient outcomes to optimize patient care; to collect data on other treatment paradigms, and evaluate the prevalences of their use and their effectiveness; to characterize the effects and safety of Vimizim treatment 5 years from enrollment in the Registry for patients under 5 years of age; to monitor pregnancy exposure, including maternal, neonatal, and infant outcomes; and to monitor patients who have completed the MOR-005 and MOR-007 clinical trials. These patients will be encouraged to enroll in the applicable Registry Substudy and will be monitored using the MOR-005 and MOR-007 assessment schedules, respectively.
NCT00867048
Objectives: * To find out if the chance of developing a serious illness or of getting AIDS is less if patients start taking HIV medicines at a time when their cluster-of-differentiation-4 (CD4)+ cell count is still fairly high, instead of waiting until the CD4+ count is at the level where there is good evidence for starting medicines. * To learn more about how a strategy of starting HIV medicines early might affect other aspects of care, such as the chances of developing other illnesses or resistance to HIV medicines, the frequency of doctor visits, the cost of medical care, and general health and satisfaction.
NCT01247324
This randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, parallel-group study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of ocrelizumab in comparison with interferon beta-1a (Rebif) in participants with relapsing multiple sclerosis. Participants will be randomized to receive either ocrelizumab 600 mg or matching placebo intravenous (IV) as 300 mg infusions on Days 1 and 15 for the first dose and as a single infusion of 600 mg for all subsequent infusions every 24 weeks, with placebo injections matching interferon beta-1a SC three times per week; or interferon beta-1a 44 mcg SC injections three times per week (with placebo infusions matching ocrelizumab infusions every 24 weeks). Planned duration of double-blind treatment is 96 weeks. Participants who complete the 96-week double-blind treatment will have an option to enter a single-group, active-treatment, open-label extension period, providing they fulfill the eligibility criteria.
NCT04930393
Our current standard of care is to perform an interscalene peripheral nerve block for patients receiving rotator cuff repair surgery as it is an effective opioid-free alternative for post-operative pain control. However, many of these repairs require a supplemental incision for an open biceps tenodesis, which is not covered by the interscalene block. The intercostobrachial nerve covers this incision and is targeted by an axillary ring block or a single shot nerve block in the fascial plane between the pectoralis minor and serratus anterior muscles (otherwise termed as a PECS II block). This study will attempt to delineate if one is superior in postoperative analgesia and mitigating intraoperative stimulation by comparing an axillary ring block to a PECS II block. Patients receiving a rotator cuff repair with biceps tenodesis without histories of chronic opioid use and respiratory compromise will be eligible to be enrolled in the study. All patients will receive an interscalene block and group 1 will receive a supplemental axillary ring block and group 2 will instead receive a PECS II block. After surgery, the patients' pain score will be assessed upon PACU arrival, at 6 hours after block, and 2 weeks postoperatively. Their opioid requirements will also be assessed. Our primary outcome is pain score at 6 hours following the block.
NCT04513899
This randomized controlled trial (RCT) will test the efficacy of a Community Health Worker/Registered Nurse (CHW-RN) HCV intervention for homeless individuals, many who are also drug users. The intervention will be designed during Phase I of the proposal using an iterative process between a Community Advisory Board (CAB) and focus groups. The CHW/RN intervention will occur over a 2 or 3 month (8-12 weeks) period depending on the Direct-Acting Antiviral (DAA) prescribed. Homeless adults assigned to the CHW/RN HCV treatment group will receive culturally-sensitive education, case management, and daily DOT delivery of DAA by an RN-guided CHW. The CHW will run a brief (20 min) weekly 1:1 education and 20 min case management session over the 8 or 12 weeks and will deliver all components of the program (which will be developed and refined during Phase I). The CHW-RN HCV intervention will be compared to a clinic-based standard of care group (cbSOC). Primary outcomes are the completion of the Direct-Acting Agent (DAA) treatment (month 2 or 3) and SVR12 Cure (month 5 or 6). Secondary outcomes are improved mental health status, decrease in substance use, and improved access to health care, and shelter stability at month 5 or 6.
NCT02252432
The purpose of this research is to determine the pain-reducing effects of ketamine (Ketalar, an FDA-approved drug for anesthesia) and methadone (Dolophine, a long-acting narcotic) after lumbar laminectomy. The investigators would like to evaluate whether intraoperative use of both drugs may be able to provide better control of pain after lumbar surgery.
