NCT02382523
IgA nephropathy occurs when IgA-a protein that helps the body fight infections-settles in the kidneys. IgA deposits may cause the kidneys to leak blood and sometimes protein in the urine. Proteinuria (abnormal amounts of protein in urine) can be a sign of kidney damage. Current treatments for IgA nephropathy is limited to Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitor medications with fish oil. ACE Inhibitors, also called ACEI medications, slows the angiotensin converting enzyme so that blood vessels can be relaxed. This study involves the study drugs, Acthar and Lisinopril (an ACEI medication routinely given for high blood pressure). In previous clinical studies, some subjects with IgA nephropathy have experienced reductions in proteinuria with consistent use of Acthar. Acthar is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and used to treat patients with proteinuria. The purpose is to study the safety and effectiveness of the study drug Acthar given at different doses.
NCT01007942
This phase III, double-blind, placebo-controlled multinational study will assess the combination everolimus, vinorelbine, and trastuzumab compared to the combination vinorelbine and trastuzumab with respect to progressive-free survival and over survival in HER2/neu positive women with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer who are resistant to trastuzumab and have been pre-treated with a taxane.
NCT00860548
The Scleroderma Cyclophosphamide Or Transplant (SCOT) Trial is a Phase II/III interventional trial comparing two treatments for early, severe scleroderma. These two interventions are high dose immunosuppressive therapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation and monthly high dose pulse cyclophosphamide (the later for 12 doses). While standard of care might be considered the optimal control arm for a trial such as this one, no such standard of care is available for the population of scleroderma patients defined by the eligibility criteria for this trial. The rheumatologists on the protocol team believe that the SCOT cyclophosphamide regimen represents the best control arm for this study. However, given concerns over use of a treatment arm as a control that has not been established as a standard of care, this registry was established. The registry will be a prospective, observational study of subjects with severe systemic sclerosis (SSc) who are eligible to participate in the Scleroderma Cyclophosphamide or Transplantation (SCOT) Study but are denied insurance coverage or decline to participate prior to randomization. Subjects will be accrued over the same period as the SCOT study. Subjects will follow the course of treatment prescribed by their treating physician with no interference from the registry. The primary purpose of this study is to document the disease course and outcome in a group of participants who are eligible for the SCOT study, but declined to participate, in order to determine whether their outcome is better, worse, or no different than those who participate in the treatment phase of the trial.
NCT01123161
The purpose of this trial is to determine whether the combination of thrombolysis and hypothermia is superior to thrombolysis alone for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke.
NCT00617383
The definition of the most 'at-risk' population within highly susceptible groups would provide an opportunity for preemptive therapeutics. A convenient, safe, and tolerable therapy that delays the onset of clinical disease during the pre-symptomatic stage of demyelinating disease would provide a therapeutic alternative to a 'wait and see' approach in subjects at 'high risk' for CIS (clinically isolated syndrome - monosymptomatic demyelinating disease) or MS. Identical twins share the same genes and have the highest rate of shared MS. An identical female with a sister twin with MS has a 34% chance of having MS. Non concordant (no MS yet) identical (monozygotic - from the same sperm-egg zygote) female twins provide an ideal population to find out what factors predict the onset of MS in the non-affected twin. We will recruit 30 identical female twins, one with MS and the other without MS, and obtain brain MRI and biological samples on the non-affected twin and determine if: * the presence of characteristic MS-like lesion(s) on baseline MRI predisposes to MS. * specific proteins in blood or cerebrospinal fluid predispose to the clinical expression of demyelinating disease If we can predict by simple tests (MR brain scan and blood tests) the likelihood of the onset of MS in 'at risk' subjects, and have safe and tolerable therapies, we may be able to prevent the clinical onset of demyelinating disease (MS).
NCT01059305
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn if Tarceva ® (erlotinib) when taken before and after radiation and/or surgery can help to control aggressive cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. The safety of the drug will also be studied.
NCT00097448
This trial aims to compare the efficacy of oral prednisone vs. methylprednisolone injected into the middle ear for the treatment of moderate-to-severe, sudden sensorineural hearing loss (inner ear hearing loss affecting one ear that occurs over less than 72 hours).
NCT02936115
The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical outcomes of TruSkin® and an Active Comparator in patients with chronic diabetic foot ulcers.
NCT01571362
The primary objective of the study is to determine the analgesic efficacy and safety of ALO-02 extended-release capsules, when compared to placebo, in subjects with moderate to severe chronic low back pain.
NCT01402986
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the addition of tralokinumab to standard asthma medication is effective in the treatment of adults with asthma.
NCT00056277
A Placebo Controlled Study Evaluating Efficacy and Safety of Medication in Patients with Bipolar Disorder
NCT01268566
The primary objective of this Phase II study is to evaluate the progression-free survival at 6 months in adult subjects with a first recurrence of Glioblastoma Multiforme who are treated with MEDI-575.
NCT01849289
This trial was conducted in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America. The aim of the trial was to compare efficacy and safety of insulin degludec and insulin glargine in insulin naïve subjects with type 2 diabetes.
NCT00161733
The objective of this study is to demonstrate equivalent hemostatic efficacy and safety between FS VH S/D and TISSEEL VH fibrin sealant in subjects undergoing cardiac surgery requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. If bleeding is still present after conventional surgical methods to achieve hemostasis have been applied FS VH S/D or Tisseel VH are applied. Achievement of hemostasis within 5 minutes is compared between the study groups.
