NCT00402740
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term safety and efficacy of the Xact™ Rapid Exchange Carotid Stent System used in conjunction with the Emboshield® Pro Rapid Exchange Embolic Protection System (Generation 5) and the Emboshield® BareWire™ Rapid Exchange Embolic Protection System (Generation 3), in the treatment of atherosclerotic carotid artery disease in high-surgical risk subjects.
NCT01080807
The primary objective of the study is to determine whether armodafinil treatment is more effective than placebo treatment in patients with excessive sleepiness associated with shift work disorder (SWD) by measuring improved clinical condition late in the shift, including the commute home.
NCT00640042
The purpose of this study is to provide information in a broad, "real world" population of chronic pain patients assessing both pain control with AVINZA as well as the potential risk for misuse and abuse.
NCT00977080
Evaluates the effectiveness of on-label Paricalcitol versus Cinacalcet with Low-Dose Vitamin D.
NCT00346021
Purpose of the project is to develop a school-based intervention aimed at increasing hat use when children are outside at home and at school. The intervention is targeted to fourth grade children in Hillsborough County, Florida and is based on Theory of Reasoned Action and Planned Behavior. It is structured to accomplish the following goals: (a) increase sun protection knowledge of children in regards to hat use,(b) foster more positive attitudes in regard to wearing hats,(c) change the subjective norms of wearing hats (d) target persons that children perceive as controlling their behavior of wearing hats(parents, teachers) and increase the use of hats when children are outdoors at school(primary outcome) and when outdoors at times other than school(secondary outcome).
NCT00584142
The purpose of this study was two-fold: (i) to assess whether MBSR favorably influences psychological status, quality of life, stress hormones, and immune status in breast cancer survivors; and (ii) to explore possible mechanisms by which MBSR may favorably influence these outcomes, in particular, through reduction in fear of breast cancer recurrence and associated perceived stress. Both objectives were studied at the critical transition time immediately following completion of surgical, radiation and/or chemotherapy therapy for breast cancer.
NCT01067573
To determine a correlation between serum leptin levels, nitric oxide preceding a relapse and change in leptin and nitric oxide levels during exacerbation in relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis patients.
NCT00992771
Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) is a group of inherited disorders characterized by cerebellar degeneration leading to imbalance, incoordination, speech difficulties and problems with walking. Recently, individual case reports have suggested that varenicline, a drug used in smoking cessation, produces substantial improvement in patients with several inherited ataxias. A modest response was noted in 5 patients with SCA, suggesting that it is potentially efficacious in this disorder as well. Although this agent is available for off-label use, the severe side effects noted with its use and the lack of long-term toxicity data demand that it be systematically assessed. The present study will test whether varenicline is safe and potentially efficacious in a heterogeneous cohort of adults with SCA.
NCT00584688
Research studies raise the possibility that medications such as quetiapine may improve mood or reduce obsessions in people with anorexia nervosa and may even help to normalize appetite. The medication quetiapine also known as seroquel works by activating certain systems in the brain, such as ones known as dopamine and serotonin chemical systems in the brain.
NCT00298571
The use of .5% Bupivacaine with epinephrine at the time of skin closure in cesarean deliveries will decrease post-op pain.
NCT00827112
This is a pilot study to examine if the novel treatment regimen maraviroc plus boosted atazanavir can be expected to be safe and efficacious in treatment naive HIV infected patients. Based on the results from this study, a confirmatory phase 3 study may be conducted.
NCT00631397
The study is to measure how dense or solid the infant's bones are using a new ultrasound machine and how that density changes over time.
NCT00471328
The study evaluated the safety and efficacy of nilotinib versus current treatment in adults with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) who have either progressed or who were intolerant to the first and second line treatments.
NCT00988091
Subjects with chronic osteoarthritis of the knee will be assigned to receive an injection of either 1.2% sodium hyaluronate or buffered saline to evaluate its effectiveness and safety for 26 weeks. After 26 weeks, subjects can elect to receive a second injection of 1.2% sodium hyaluronate and be followed for another 26 weeks.
NCT01278420
The purpose of this study is to compare the visual outcomes with bilateral implantation of Tecnis MF and ReSTOR IOLs Six months post cataract surgery.
NCT01193504
The purpose of this study is to determine if Lotemax eye drops are at least as effective as Pred Forte eye drops, which are the standard of care after cataract surgery.
NCT01273064
Placebo controlled, double-blind, multicenter study utilizing standard of care (SOC) treatment (ribavirin plus pegylated interferon) in combination with CTS-1027 in genotype 1 chronic Hepatitis C (HCV) patients who were null-responders to previous SOC therapy(ies). Null-responders are defined as patients who failed to achieve a greater than 2 log drop in HCV-RNA (Hepatitis C Ribonucleic acid, also known as "viral load") levels after 12 weeks of treatment (know as an "early virologic response", or EVR) during previous SOC therapy. If, during previous SOC treatment, a patient had a less than 2 log decline in HCV-RNA at Week 12 but greater than 2 log decline in HCV-RNA at any time from Week 12 to Week 24, that patient is not a null-responder, and is excluded from study participation. If, during previous SOC treatment, a Week 12 HCV-RNA was not obtained, the post Week 12 response must have been \< 2 log decline (and still HCV-RNA positive) in order for the patient to be defined as a null-responder. Patients will be screened and have up to 4 weeks to qualify for study entry. During this screening period, clinical and laboratory tests will be performed. At Week 0/Day 1, patients will undergo centralized, stratified (based on ethnicity), randomization to one of four treatment arms: SOC + one of three doses of CTS-1027 or SOC + placebo. Study treatment will last 24, 48, or 60 weeks, based on each patient's response to study treatment. SOC + placebo patients who do not show a virologic response after 12 weeks of therapy will be rolled onto SOC + 15mg CTS-1027, while maintaining the study blind.
NCT00003127
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy in treating patients with metastatic, recurrent, or refractory endometrial cancer.
NCT00012363
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy in treating patients who have metastatic or recurrent cancer of the esophagus.
