NCT01165684
This trial is conducted in Europe, and North and South America. The aim of this clinical trial is to investigate if the two treatments are equally effective.
NCT00740038
Chemotherapy adversely affects quality of life in cancer patients. Both stress management training and exercise training have been shown to improve quality of life. These two types of training have not been directly compared for chemotherapy patients. This study seeks to evaluate the separate and combined effects of stress management training and exercise training on quality of life during chemotherapy treatment. Participants receive either a home-based, self-administered program in 1 of 3 types (stress management, exercise, or stress management + exercise) or usual care (reading materials). It is hypothesized that the combined program (stress management + exercise) will be significantly associated with better quality of life than the usual care group, the exercise only group, and the stress management only group. All participants are assessed at 3 timepoints: before they begin chemotherapy, 6 weeks after their first chemotherapy infusion, and 12 weeks after their first infusion.
NCT00048308
During a heart bypass procedure, a substance called "complement" is released by the body. This complement causes inflammation, which can lead to side effects such as chest pain, heart attacks, heart failure, or impairment of memory, language and motor skills. The purpose of this study is to find out if the study drug (pexelizumab), which blocks complement release, can reduce such side effects and be taken safely.
NCT01220271
The purpose of this trial is to show proof of concept that by blocking the Transforming Growth Factor-beta signaling pathway in patients with Glioblastoma, there will be clinical benefit. Phase 1b: To determine the safe and tolerable dose of LY2157299 in combination with radiochemotherapy with temozolomide for Phase 2 in patients with glioma eligible to receive radiochemotherapy with temozolomide (e.g. newly diagnosed malignant glioma World Health Organization Grade III and IV). Phase 2a: To confirm the tolerability and evaluate the pharmacodynamic effect of LY2157299 in combination with standard radiochemotherapy in patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma.
NCT01341418
This study compares two techniques for the fixation of tibial fractures. The techniques are the suprapatellar (above knee)or infrapatellar (below knee) approach to tibial intramedullary nailing. Null hypothesis: There is no difference in 1) residual post-operative pain levels, 2)knee function, 3) healing and alignment of the tibia, or 4) trochlear changes in the patello-femoral cartilage between patients who are randomized to receive tibial nail insertion through either a suprapatellar nail entry portal or a standard patellar tendon approach.
NCT00399711
This trial is conducted in the United States of America (USA). This trial compares the changes in HbA1c after 26 weeks of repaglinide and metformin fixed dose combination tablet given as twice daily versus three times daily regimens or versus twice daily rosiglitazone and metformin fixed dose combination tablet in subjects with type 2 diabetes currently on monotherapy.
NCT00099229
This purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Licarbazepine for the treatment of manic episodes of bipolar disorder.
NCT00003901
RATIONALE: Prognostic testing for early signs of metastases may help doctors detect metastases early and plan more effective treatment. PURPOSE: Phase III trial to study the relationship between early signs of metastases and survival in patients who have stage I, stage II, or stage III non-small cell lung cancer that can be removed by surgery.
NCT01665352
The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and effect of TTP054 versus placebo on glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
NCT02311907
This randomized phase III trial is studying glutathione to see how well it works in preventing peripheral neuropathy caused by paclitaxel and carboplatin in patients with ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, and/or primary peritoneal cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Chemoprotective drugs, such as glutathione, may help prevent peripheral neuropathy caused by paclitaxel and carboplatin. It is not yet known whether glutathione is more effective than a placebo in preventing peripheral neuropathy.
NCT01731938
This study is designed to assess the safety and efficacy of fibrin sealant (FS) Grifols in patients undergoing elective (non-emergency) soft tissue open surgery where bleeding may be present. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that FS Grifols is not inferior to commercially-available oxidized cellulose pads (Surgicel®) in providing benefit in the time to hemostasis (i.e, the stoppage of bleeding). This study has a Preliminary Part (I) for study teams to become familiar with the application of FS Grifols and a Primary Part (II) to assess the safety and efficacy of FS Grifols. In both parts of the study, patients will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to either FS Grifols or Surgicel.
NCT01120561
This is a multicenter, open-label, single-arm, expanded access study designed to provide T-DM1 to patients with HER2-positive locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer and to evaluate the safety and efficacy of T-DM1 administered by intravenous (IV) infusion.
NCT00659789
Current management of HIV infection includes anti-retroviral therapy (ART). ART cannot cure the infection, making it a life-long treatment that requires sustained patient compliance and imposes significant individual and societal financial burdens on healthcare services. Furthermore, ART side effects often require medication that increases the inconveniences and financial burdens of HIV management. Of further concern is the emergence of viruses resistant to ART that can result in treatment failure. ART-free periods could provide substantial benefit. Vacc-4x is a peptide-based HIV immunotherapy that is proposed for prolongation of ART-free periods. The purpose of this study is to determine whether Vacc-4x immunotherapy can give safe ART-free period.
NCT01819766
This study aims to determine the performance of the Exact IBD-ACRN surveillance test to detect colorectal cancer (CRC) and colorectal neoplasia in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Patients with an IBD diagnosis for at least eight years or diagnosis of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and who are eligible for CRC screening are eligible to participate in this study. Enrolled subjects will collect a stool sample for the Exact IBD-ACRN surveillance test. Subjects must have undergone colonoscopy no more than 90 days prior to enrollment and will undergo colonoscopy or surgical intervention within 120 days of enrollment. Tissue diagnosis of CRC will be established by histopathologic examination.
NCT00488319
The purpose of this open-label study is to evaluate the long-term (6-month) safety and tolerability of extended-release paliperidone, an atypical antipsychotic, given in flexible dosages to adolescents with schizophrenia.
NCT01476475

NCT00358150
Gaucher disease is a genetic disease that results in a deficiency of an enzyme acid beta-glucosidase, also known as glucocerebrosidase. This enzyme is needed to digest a substrate (lipid) called glucosylceramide and, to a lesser degree, glucosylsphingosine. In participants with Gaucher disease, the liver, spleen, bone marrow and brain show increases in lipid concentration, specifically in cells derived from the monocyte/macrophage system. Eliglustat tartrate (Genz-112638) is an oral drug that may regulate the Gaucher disease process by decreasing the synthesis of glucosylceramide. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetics (PK) of eliglustat tartrate, administered as an oral dose of either 50 milligram (mg) twice daily (BID) or 100 mg BID, to men and women with Gaucher disease Type 1 for 52 weeks.
NCT00986414
