NCT00419705
The purpose of this pivotal study is to demonstrate safety and effectiveness of the NeuroThera® Laser System (referred to hereafter as NTS) in the treatment of Subjects diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke. The initiation of NTS treatment must be feasible for each Subject within 24 hours of stroke onset.
NCT00933933
To test blood specimens using a new investigational test that detects antigen and antibody to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Results will be compared to an approved HIV antibody test and supplemental testing performed to determine HIV status.
NCT00798707
The primary purpose of this study is to compare the antidepressant efficacy and safety of two doses of DVS SR (25 and 50 mg/day) in the treatment of adults with Major Depressive Disorder. The study will also assess changes in sexual function and general and functional quality of life outcomes.
NCT00393991
The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of the fixed combination asthma drug FlutiForm HFA MDI with its two components administered alone, fluticasone propionate and formoterol fumarate, and with placebo in adult and adolescent patients with mild to moderate asthma.
NCT00465088
To demonstrate that niacin ER and simvastatin (NS) tablets, when compared to atorvastatin (Lipitor®; Pfizer, Inc.), has superior high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) elevating effects at Week 12 in subjects with type II hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia who are currently off lipid-modifying therapy. This was a prospective, randomized, open-label, blinded endpoint (PROBE) study.
NCT00644293
To determine if a single 2.0-g dose of azithromycin SR is at least as effective as a 3-day course of azithromycin (500 mg once daily for 3 days) when used to treat adolescents and adults with strep throat, and to assess efficacy and safety for both treatment regimens.
NCT00804986
A multicenter, multinational, randomized,double-blind, placebo-controlled study in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). Patients with inadequate glycemic control using diet and exercise alone, or in combination with metformin, will be enrolled. The primary objective of this study is to test the hypothesis that LY2428757 given to patients with T2DM inadequately controlled with diet and exercise alone, or metformin monotherapy, produces a significant decrease in the mean hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) from baseline to endpoint at 12 weeks as compared to placebo. Trial consists of 12 weeks of double-blind treatment and 4-week safety follow-up.
NCT00369447
This is a Phase I-II study designed to investigate nimotuzumab (TheraCIM h-R3) in combination with external radiation in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. The purpose of the Phase I portion of the study is to evaluate the safety and feasibility of the administration of nimotuzumab with palliative radiation in patients who are unsuitable for radical therapy and to select the optimal dose for the Phase II component of the study. The primary objective for the Phase II portion of the study is to examine the efficacy of this combination treatment. The Phase I component of this study has been completed. The Phase II is now closed to recruitment.
NCT00033839
This is a 49-day study to evaluate the effectiveness of Intranasal Civamide (Zucapsaicin) in the treatment of an episodic cluster headache period compared to placebo (medically inactive substance which does not contain any active ingredients).
NCT00243503
The current study is to evaluate: Overall response rate for the combination of trastuzumab and SU011248 in metastatic or locally recurrent breast cancer; evaluate safety and tolerability of the combination; measure duration of tumor control and survival; assess patient reported outcomes; assess PK in combination with trastuzumab and compare efficacy and safety.
NCT00650637
The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy and safety of calcium carbonate for the prevention of nelfinavir-associated diarrhea and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of calcium carbonate in combination with loperamide for the treatment of nelfinavir-associated diarrhea.
NCT00100386
Primary Outcome Measures:Incidence density of colonization with MRSA or VRE (number of new colonization events per 1000 patient days at risk) during the intervention phase. Secondary Outcome Measures:The effect of the 2 strategies on the incidence density of colonization with MRSA and VRE individually will be determined and compared descriptively. The effect of the strategies on the cumulative incidence of bacteremia caused by MRSA and VRE will be determined to assess the clinical relevance of the strategy in preventing infection. The trial will evaluate the frequency of hand hygiene and the use of gloves and gowns by healthcare workers to substantiate whether the effect of the intensive control strategy is mediated, as expected, by an increase in the use of gloves and gowns due to an increase in the number of patients cared for using Contact Precautions.
NCT00131560
This study uses autologous (one's own) CD4 T cells modified with a viral vector expressing a genetic antisense targeting HIV, this vector is called VRX496. Study treatment is by intravenous infusion of vector modified cells and infusions will be provided every other week for a total of 4 or 8 doses. These modified cells, once infused, may provide immune support and are not destroyed by HIV, and thus may delay or reverse HIV disease progression. The study will enroll up to 40 male and female HIV-positive subjects in up to 8 centers. Subjects will be 18 years of age and over who have failed or are intolerant to at least one triple combination of antiretroviral drugs. Subjects must have a viral load between 5,000 and 200,000 copies/ml and a CD4+ count of ≥150, be in good health and have no evidence of active opportunistic infection, heart disease, or bleeding disorders. Subjects must not be on corticosteroids, immunomodulating agents or hydroxyurea. Subjects must not have received an AIDS vaccine or any investigational gene therapy product at any time. Females must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
NCT00145639
This trial (OS99) evaluates the use of ifosfamide, carboplatin, and doxorubicin in an up-front window before surgery for localized and resectable osteosarcoma. High-dose methotrexate, which may interfere with the dose-intensive delivery of other agents, is eliminated from the treatment of localized disease. The primary objective is to compare the response rate of pre-surgical chemotherapy comprised of ifosfamide, doxorubicin, and carboplatin to that obtained with ifosfamide and carboplatin in the St. Jude OS-91 trial for patients with non-metastatic resectable osteosarcoma. We hypothesize that the histologic response rate will be improved by the addition of one course of pre-operative chemotherapy on this trial compared to the previous OS-91 trial.
NCT00761332
The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of teriparatide versus therapies that decrease bone loss to prevent new or worsening back pain in patients with osteoporosis seen in clinical practice.
