After visit 3, subjects will commence application of clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide gel to the entire face for an additional 6 weeks.
NCT00806754
* The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the concomitant administration of ciclesonide nasal spray and azelastine nasal spray versus ciclesonide nasal spray alone in patients (18 years or older) with perennial allergic rhinitis (PAR) not adequately controlled on an intranasal corticosteroid or antihistamine monotherapy * The secondary objective is to investigate the safety of the concomitant administration of ciclesonide nasal spray and azelastine nasal spray
NCT01062854
The main goal of this study is to assess whether use of earplugs has any effect on sleep, sleep apnea, and daytime sleepiness in individuals who snore.
NCT00637390
Ovarian cancer cannot grow without recruiting new blood vessels. Studies in humans have identified a novel cell population, termed vascular leukocytes (VLCs). While VLCs are not cancer cells, they support the growth of ovarian cancer cells by stimulating the growth of new blood vessels which provide the cancer with nutrients. VLCs make a protein termed CD52. An antibody therapeutic, Alemtuzumab (also know as Campath), that kills cells that make the CD52 protein has been successfully used to treat certain lymphomas (a type of blood cell cancer) that make CD52 protein. The purpose of this study is to determine if Alemtuzumab given subcutaneously (under the skin)can be safely given to patients with ovarian, fallopian, or primary peritoneal cancers to kill VLCs and determine if Alemtuzumab, by eliminating VLCs, can restrict tumor growth or increase response rates to chemotherapy given after the discontinuation of chemotherapy.
NCT01567150
This study is being conducted to characterize the way leg wounds respond to a new type of wound dressing, compared to wounds in patients who are not using the new dressing. The investigators will collect wound fluid for biochemical analysis, and they will measure the wound healing that occurs with and without the new dressing.
NCT02117414
The purpose of the Evera MRI™ study is to confirm safety and efficacy of the Evera MRI ICD (Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) System in the clinical MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) environment when subjects receive MRI scans without positioning restrictions (MRI scans may occur anywhere on the body).
NCT02200419
This multi-centre study will provide sound, generalizable data on the effectiveness of a POC-based algorithm to determine to what extent this guideline can reduce blood product transfusions. Investigators will study outcomes in 7000 patients undergoing heart surgery at 10 participating hospitals. The proposed trial addresses several important research and clinical issues and has the potential to markedly improve the transfusion management and surgical care in general of cardiac surgery patients. The intervention will be a novel POC-based algorithm that has been shown in a pilot study by us to be associated with a substantial reduction in blood product transfusions. The algorithm will employ viscoelastic and aggregometric POC-tests and an objective measure of blood loss. The primary outcome will be avoidance of red blood cell transfusion during hospitalization. The study has a 90% power to detect a 12% increase in avoidance rate. Secondary outcomes will include avoidance of red blood cell use and other blood products (plasma, platelets, and cryoprecipitate), units of blood products transfused, and adverse clinical outcomes related to transfusion (acute kidney injury, infections, and death). Data will also be collected for future health-economics analyses. Largely due to the limitations of existing evidence, however, such algorithms are rarely used in clinical practice. The proposed trial will provide sound, generalizable data on the effectiveness of a POC-based algorithm to guide their future use. An integrated blood management algorithm that employs POC coagulation tests will reduce blood product transfusions in cardiac surgery, thereby improving clinical outcomes. Does an integrated blood transfusion algorithm that employs POC coagulation tests applied across a network of hospitals reduce blood transfusions and associated adverse outcomes in cardiac surgery?
NCT00163436
The aim of the present study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of ciclesonide on lung function and safety. Ciclesonide will be inhaled at one dose level once daily, using an inhaler device with or without spacer. The study duration consists of a baseline period (1 to 3 weeks) and a treatment period (12 weeks).
NCT00517829
The purpose of this research study is to find out what effects (good and bad) docetaxel, oxaliplatin, and cetuximab have on gastric or GEJ cancer.
NCT00573183
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a combined group and individual 12-Step facilitative (TSF) intervention, Stimulant Abuser Groups to Engage in 12 -Step (STAGE-12), improves substance -related outcomes.
NCT01896297
The goal of this study is to assess dabigatran pharmacokinetics in NVAF subjects with severe renal impairment defined as creatinine clearance between 15 and 30 mL/min calculated by Cockcroft-Gault formula. The dabigatran etexilate dose of 75 mg BID was approved by the FDA for NVAF patients with severe renal impairment (CrCl 15-30 mL/min) , based on pharmacokinetic modeling and simulation.
NCT01537133
There are new, very sensitive methods for detecting bacteria. These methods show that hundreds of millions of microbes (organisms that can only be seen with microscopes), especially bacteria, live in healthy people. The collection of different microbes found in a site is called a "microbiome." The investigators know that microbiomes of the skin, sinuses, mouth, gastro-intestinal tract, etc. differ from each other. The make-up of the microbiome - which bacteria are found in a site - may be necessary for good health. For example, the microbiome of the mouth is different in people with inflammation of the gums (periodontitis), and the microbiome of the bowel is different in people with inflammation of the intestinal tract (inflammatory bowel disease). The purpose of this research study is to find out if the microbiome in the lungs is different in healthy people without asthma compared to people with asthma. This study will also find out if the microbiome of the lungs changes when people with asthma take a daily "controller" medication called an inhaled corticosteroid.
NCT00163358
The aim of the study is to compare the efficacy of ciclesonide versus fixed combination of fluticasone propionate/salmeterol versus placebo, on long-term asthma control in patients with mild persistent asthma. The study duration consists of a baseline period (2 weeks) and a treatment period (12 months). The study will provide further data on safety and tolerability of ciclesonide.
