NCT00542009
Study of whether the investigational drug CE-326,597 improves glucose control and results in body weight loss in patients with type 2 diabetes
NCT00849394
This is a clinical research study to look at the incidence of proteinuria (a condition in which urine contains an abnormal amount of protein) caused by shortened infusions (given into the vein over 10 or 15 minutes) of bevacizumab (a medication prescribed for colon, lung, or breast cancer). There are currently no published studies or clinical data looking at how safe shortened infusions of bevacizumab are in relationship to the side effect of proteinuria. We hypothesis that shortened infusions of bevacizumab will result in an increased risk for proteinuria compared to the standard infusions of this agent.
NCT00001039
To assess the feasibility of using culture and staining techniques to quantify tissue Mycobacterium avium Complex (MAC) burden in bone marrow. To correlate and compare changes in MAC bone marrow burden with quantitative MAC blood culture results at baseline and after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment. MAC is easiest to detect in the blood, although doctors generally believe that MAC in blood is just "spill-over" from infection of other parts of the body. Traditionally, studies of potential treatments for MAC focus only on MAC changes in the blood. This study compares MAC changes in blood to those in bone marrow, which is another tissue where MAC is often found.
NCT00037076
The purpose of this study is to find out how many children who are infected with HIV are also infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV). HCV infection is a major health concern. HIV-infected adults who are co-infected with HCV appear to have more rapid HIV disease progression. There is little data on how widespread HCV is among children who are HIV-infected. Information from this study will help determine the need for future HCV studies. This study also will obtain blood samples for future testing for other hepatitis viruses such as hepatitis G virus (HGV or GB virus C).
NCT00168064
This study will evaluate the efficacy, tolerability and safety of the topical application of mechlorethamine (MCH) formulations in patients with stage I or IIA mycosis fungoides (MF).
NCT01130246
The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of short-term A-002 treatment on morbidity and mortality when added to atorvastatin and standard of care in subjects with an acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
NCT00478634
This study will assess the safety of RAD001 when given together with cetuximab and irinotecan
NCT00085501
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as cetuximab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Combining more than one chemotherapy drug with a monoclonal antibody may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known whether cetuximab is more effective when given at the same time as chemotherapy or following chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well giving cetuximab at the same time as combination chemotherapy works compared to giving cetuximab after combination chemotherapy in treating patients with stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT00307047
The purpose of the SPIRIT IV Clinical Trial is to continue to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the XIENCE V® Everolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System (XIENCE V®). The XIENCE V® arm will be compared to an active control, represented by the FDA-approved TAXUS® EXPRESS2™ Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent System (TAXUS®), commercially available from Boston Scientific. TAXUS® EXPRESS2™ Paclitaxel Eluting Coronary Stent System is manufactured by Boston Scientific.
NCT01720004
The investigators designed a pilot randomized controlled trial to assess the feasibility and acceptability of repeated hands-and-knees positioning during labour. The objectives were 1) to provide an estimate of enrollment rates, 2) to assess compliance with the study protocol by participants and care providers, 3) to obtain women's views about their experiences using the hands-and-knees position, and 4) to provide estimates of treatment effects to inform the sample size calculation for a large trial.
NCT00762606
To compare the health economic parameter and clinical outcome of Phacoemulsification with small incision cataract surgery (SICS)
NCT00002920
RATIONALE: It is not yet known whether medroxyprogesterone is effective in preventing endometrial disorder in patients with breast cancer who are taking tamoxifen. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to study the effectiveness of medroxyprogesterone in preventing endometrial disorder in postmenopausal women who have ductal carcinoma in situ, lobular carcinoma in situ, Paget's disease of the nipple, stage I breast cancer, or stage II breast cancer and who are taking tamoxifen.
NCT00586326
This study has been designed to compile information on the efficacy of the MammoSite RTS providing sole radiation therapy for patients with pure DCIS.
NCT00665145
The primary and secondary objectives of this study are: Primary: To evaluate stem-cell-mobilization in subjects with diabetic neuropathy receiving SB-509. Stem cell mobilization will be assessed by evaluating the presence of stem cells circulating in peripheral blood. Secondary: To evaluate the safety of SB-509 in subjects treated with SB-509 with diabetic neuropathy; and to compare the effect of SB-509 versus placebo on a pre-defined multi-endpoint analysis that includes visual analog scale for pain intensity (VASPI), total neuropathy score (TNS), evoked nerve conduction velocity (NCV) and quantitative sensory testing (QST)
NCT00476931
The purpose of the study is to study the clinical effects of the investigational drug, SB-509 versus placebo in patients with diabetic neuropathy.
NCT00016601
The purpose of this study is to look at the level of depo-medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA or Depo-Provera) in the blood to see if is affected by certain anti-HIV drugs (nelfinavir \[NFV\], efavirenz \[EFV\], indinavir \[IDV\] in combination with ritonavir \[RTV\], and nevirapine \[NVP\]). This study will also look at the levels of these anti-HIV drugs to see if they are affected by DMPA. DMPA is a hormonal birth control method that is given as an injection. It is not known if taking DMPA together with anti-HIV drugs changes the amount of DMPA and/or the amount of anti-HIV drugs in the blood. If higher levels of DMPA occur, side effects may increase. If lower levels of anti-HIV drugs occur, the drugs may become less effective against HIV. This study will look at the levels of anti-HIV drugs and DMPA in the blood when these medications are used together.
NCT00090961
RATIONALE: Pulmonary rehabilitation education and exercise training may improve physical function and quality of life in patients who are receiving treatment for lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying pulmonary rehabilitation education and exercise training to see how well they work compared to exercise training alone in improving physical function and quality of life in patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy for locally advanced lung cancer.
NCT00265785
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as pemetrexed disodium, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Pemetrexed disodium may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well pemetrexed disodium works in treating patients with stage III or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT01043627
Assess tolerability, transition methods and clinical effects of transition from sildenafil (Revatio) to tadalafil (Adcirca) for treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
NCT00000799
To evaluate short-term and long-term safety and efficacy of intravenous cidofovir (HPMPC) for treatment of small peripheral cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis lesions. To provide data on the relative safety and efficacy of 2 doses of HPMPC as maintenance regimens.
