Healthy 2-month old infants (42 to 98 days of age) with no history of pneumococcal vaccination will be randomized in a 1:1:1 ratio to receive a 4-dose series of: multivalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine coadministered with Prevnar 13 (Group 1); multivalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine given 1 month after Prevnar 13 (Group 2); or Prevnar 13 with a single dose of multivalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Group 3).
NCT01597778
Hematopoietic cell transplants (HCT)are one treatment option for people with leukemia or lymphoma. Family members, unrelated donors or banked umbilical cordblood units with similar tissue type can be used for HCT. This study will compare the effectiveness of two new types of bone marrow transplants in people with leukemia or lymphoma: one that uses bone marrow donated from family members with only partially matched bone marrow; and, one that uses two partially matched cord blood units.
NCT01118026
This research is being done in order to improve treatment outcomes in patients diagnosed with bulky, early stage Hodgkin lymphoma and to reduce the side effects that are associated with use of radiation used in current treatments. The chemotherapy treatment in this study consists of a combination of four drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA): doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine. This regimen (called ABVD) has been found to be effective in treating patients with Hodgkin lymphoma and is considered the standard of treatment used with radiation therapy in patients with bulky early stage Hodgkin lymphoma. As part of the evaluation of the effectiveness of the chemotherapy treatment, PET scans will be obtained during the course of therapy. The usefulness of this PET scan will be evaluated to determine whether radiation may be left out in the treatment of disease if the PET scan shows that the patient has responded to chemotherapy alone. The plan is to identify a group of patients using early PET scans in order to change to a chemotherapy treatment called BEACOPP (bleomycin, etoposide, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbazine and prednisone). It is one of the most highly effective chemotherapy regimens for Hodgkin lymphoma, but is associated with more side effects than ABVD. Although it has become standard of care in Europe, its use has been more limited in the U.S. because of concerns about toxicity.
NCT02547922
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an intravenous treatment regimen of two doses of anifrolumab versus placebo in adult subjects with active proliferative lupus nephritis (LN).
NCT01472081
The purpose is to determine the safety, effectiveness and best dose to use when giving Nivolumab in combination with Sunitinib, Pazopanib, or Ipilimumab for the treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma.
NCT00685360
This is a clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of OPC-67683 in the treatment of multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) for 56 days. In addition to an optimized background regimen (OBR), participants will be randomized to receive: * 100 mg OPC-67683 twice daily (BID) * 200 mg OPC-67683 BID * Placebo BID After 56 days participants will complete their optimized background regimen (OBR).
NCT03596697
This is three part study that will, in part one assess the safety, tolerability, and PK of a single dose of CRV431 in healthy volunteers. The second part of the study will be a single dose drug-drug interaction study in healthy volunteers with CRV431 co-treated with TDF. The third part of the study will assess the safety, tolerability, PK, and preliminary signal for antiviral efficacy and identification of clinically-relevant biomarkers of CRV431 with TDF in stable HBV patients.
NCT03843073
The Connected Catheter is a fully internal, urethral indwelling urinary prosthesis designed for improved bladder management in males with urinary retention disorders requiring catheterization. It is a sterile, extended-use device that resides fully internally to the male lower urinary tract for an intended use life of up to 7 days per catheter.
NCT01551264
The goal of this multi-center, randomized, controlled trial is to evaluate the effectiveness of a 2 year versus 4 year bracing protocol in preventing isolated clubfoot recurrence within the first year post-treatment, and to evaluate factors associated with recurrence in isolated clubfoot.
NCT02120157
This is a multi-institutional phase II haploidentical T cell replete bone marrow transplant (BMT) study in children with high-risk leukemia. The myeloablative conditioning regimen prescribed will be Total body irradiation (TBI)-based for lymphoid leukemia and busulfan-based for myeloid leukemia. Our goal is to establish an easily exportable, inexpensive platform for haplotransplantation that has a safety profile equivalent to matched related and unrelated BMTs. The primary objective will be to estimate the incidence of 6-month non-relapse mortality (NRM), hypothesizing that NRM is \< 18%.
NCT00730639
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of MDX-1106 in patients with certain types of cancer. Another purpose is to determine how MDX-1106 is absorbed and distributed within the body, and how it's eventually eliminated.
NCT00193128
In this phase I/II trial, we will evaluate a novel combination of chemotherapy, used concurrently with radiation therapy, in the preoperative therapy of locoregional carcinoma of the esophagus and gastroesophageal junction. In the brief phase I portion of this trial, we will determine whether 2 drugs (docetaxel/oxaliplatin) or 3 drugs (docetaxel/oxaliplatin/capecitabine) can be used concurrently with radiation therapy. If the 3-drug regimen is tolerated, the phase II portion will proceed with this regimen. If the 3-drug combination is considered too toxic, the phase II study will proceed with docetaxel/oxaliplatin in combination with radiation therapy.
NCT01687153
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are common combat related problems and may be associated with a greater risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The purpose of this study is to examine the possible connections between TBI and PTSD, and the signs and symptoms of AD on Veterans as they age. The information collected will help to learn more about how these injuries may affect Veterans of the Vietnam War as they grow older, as well as Veterans of the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, who also have these types of combat related injuries.
NCT02045901
The primary objective of this study is to compare the efficacy of Diclegis for the treatment of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP) in pregnant adolescents aged 12 to 17 years with placebo. The secondary objective of this study is to compare the safety of Diclegis in pregnant adolescents aged 12 to 17 years with placebo by assessing differences in the severity and occurrence of maternal adverse events (AEs).
NCT02625909
The aim of the study is to determine if treatment for recently acquired hepatitis C infection (with or without HIV coinfection) can be shortened when treating with the interferon-free therapy sofosbuvir/velpatasvir (SOF/VEL). SOF/VEL is a new treatment for hepatitis C called direct acting antiviral which targets the hepatitis C virus replication cycle and has been shown in phase II studies in chronic HCV to be highly effective (SVR12 \>95%) when given for 12 weeks. Data has shown that treatment can be shortened when treating recently acquired HCV with interferon containing treatments. It is not known whether treatment with SOF/VEL can be shortened. This study aims to find out if treatment for 6 weeks with open-label SOF/VEL is equivalent to treatment for 12 weeks with SOF/VEL in participants with recently acquired hepatitis C infection. The project is a randomised study where both participants and investigators would not find out the treatment duration of the participants until week 6 of treatment.
