NCT04660643
This was a study of tirzepatide in participants with obesity or overweight. The main purpose was to learn more about how tirzepatide maintained body weight loss. The study had two phases: a lead-in phase in which all participants took tirzepatide and a treatment phase in which participants either continued tirzepatide or switched to placebo. The study lasted about 2 years (25 visits).
NCT02185417
The Diuretic Comparison Project aimed to evaluate whether chlorthalidone, as compared with hydrochlorothiazide, would reduce the risk of major nonfatal cardiovascular disease outcomes and non-cancer-related deaths in older patients with hypertension who were receiving hydrochlorothiazide at baseline. The investigators incorporated the pragmatic methods used by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System to provide a real-world assessment of the effectiveness of chlorthalidone as compared with hydrochlorothiazide in routine clinical care.

NCT03955068
This is a pilot study to test the feasibility of implementing a strict classic ketogenic diet among a population of children with recurrent or progressive and refractory brain tumors. Eligible participants will be admitted to the neurosciences floor for 5 days to begin the ketogenic diet either orally, by gastrostomy tube or via nasogastric tube. During the inpatient stay, they will be extensively educated on the diet restrictions and rules. Participants will then continue on the diet at home returning about 17 times over the next 12 months. Daily logs will be kept tracking diet changes, bowel movements and urine ketones. Blood will be collected during the inpatient stay and at all visits for both standard clinical care and research testing.
NCT06421207
The goal of this study to better understand how the ellacor® Micro-Coring™ procedure works using an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck surgery, model. The people participating in the study will have already decided that they want to have an abdominoplasty procedure. The main questions this study aims to answer are: 1. how does the ellacor® procedure change skin tissue? 2. is the ellacor® device safe to use at specific treatment depths? The ellacor® procedure will be performed on people who are going to have abdominoplasty surgery. The ellacor® treatment areas will be limited to the areas marked for removal of skin during the abdominoplasty. The treated tissue will be sent to a lab for microscopic study after the abdominoplasty procedure is complete. A minimum of 3 people will be treated in each of 2 groups for a total of 6 total participants. 3 participants in the first group will have the ellacor® procedure done 30 days before their abdominoplasty surgery. The ellacor® procedure will be done at different depths in designated locations: 4mm, 5mm and 7mm. The participants will be asked about any changes to their health or medications while on the study. 3 participants in the second group will have the ellacor® procedure done at 3 different timepoints, 30 days apart, all at the same depth of 4mm. They will also be asked about any changes to their health or medications while on the study. Researchers will study the abdominoplasty tissue under a microscope after it has been removed from the participants. They will compare the areas treated by the ellacor® device to an area left untreated. This will reveal any changes in the skin tissue between treated and untreated areas, if they occur.

NCT06424158
The purpose of this research is to look at the effect of massage therapy on the pain, anxiety, and quality of life that pediatric patients have after undergoing spinal fusion surgery. This is a single-site, prospective, randomized, interventional study design that will involve post-thoracic and post-lumbar spinal fusion surgeries of pediatric patients from 7 to 19 years of age that present to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. These patients will be identified prior to their scheduled spinal fusion surgery and recruited to enroll in the study. The planned spinal fusion surgeries are not considered part of this research project, but rather considered standard of care and would occur whether the patient is enrolled in this project or not. Enrolled participants will be followed during their inpatient stay and through their subsequent follow-up visits at weeks 2, 6, and 12. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a massage therapy group or a group that receives the standard (normal) care for recovery after surgery. The final study involvement will occur at week 16 (post-hospital discharge) where a study team member will administer a quality of life (PedsQL) questionnaire via phone or mail with the subject. Data will be collected after study related procedures are completed.
NCT04090697
The primary aim of this study is to determine if clinically relevant doses of buccally administered oxandrolone are safe and tolerable in neonates with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) or other single right ventricular anomalies who have undergone a Norwood procedure. The secondary aim is to evaluate the efficacy of buccally administered oxandrolone in improving objective indices of growth and nutrition in neonates who have undergone a Norwood procedure.
NCT04276792
There are two study periods for the TCU JCOIN project. The primary aims of Study 1 (approved by the TCU IRB) are (1) to gather information from staff on the current treatment referral process within participating communities and (2) to learn about the existing interrelationships between medical and community behavioral health (CBH) providers. TCU IRB granted approval for Phase 1 on 11/07/19, approval number: 1920-60-AM1. Study 2 (under current review by the TCU IRB) includes recruitment across 18 community collaboration sites across 3 states; these communities will participate in the TCU Opioid-Treatment Linkage Model (O-TLM) protocol. The O-TLM is focused on best practices for improving screening, identifying and linking to MOUD providers, reducing stigma, and addressing other important factors that impact justice-involved individuals returning to their communities. Along with their agency records, information collected from justice-involved individuals within the target communities will be examined to assess O-TLM impact on improving public health and public safety outcomes. Furthermore, stakeholder staff across community organizations, including criminal justice and treatment agencies, will be asked to complete surveys on the O-TLM regarding its acceptability and adoption, as well as on best training strategies.
NCT04424290
This is a study in people with a type of diabetic eye disease called diabetic retinopathy with diabetic macular ischemia. People who have had laser treatment for their diabetic retinopathy can participate in the study. The laser treatment is called panretinal photocoagulation. The purpose of the study is to find out how well different doses of a medicine called BI 764524 are tolerated. BI 764524 is injected into the eye. The study has 2 parts. In the first part, participants get different doses of BI 764524 only once. Participants are in the first part for about 5 months and visit the study site about 8 times. In the second part, participants are put into different groups by chance. Some participants get BI 764524 injections every 4 weeks. Other participants get sham injections every 4 weeks. A sham injection means that it is not a real injection and contains no medicine. Participants cannot tell whether they get the real injection or a sham injection. For the second part, participants are in the study for about 7 months. During this time, they visit the study site about 7 times. In this study, BI 764524 is given to humans for the first time. The doctors compare how well people tolerate the BI 764524 injections and the sham injections. The doctors also regularly check the general health of the participants.

NCT04190628
This is a Phase I, First-In-Human, open label, dose escalation and dose expansion study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary anti-cancer activity of ABM-1310 in adult patients with locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors who have no effective standard treatment options available, as monotherapy in patients with documented BRAF V600 mutation, or in combination with cobimetinib (Cotellic®) in adult patients who have documented BRAF mutation and progressive disease or intolerance to at least one prior line of systemic therapy.
NCT03992456
This phase II trial studies how well retreatment with panitumumab works compared to standard of care regorafenib or trifluridine and tipiracil hydrochloride (TAS-102) in treating patients with colorectal cancer that is negative for RAS wild-type colorectal cancer has spread to other places in the body (metastatic), and/or cannot be removed by surgery (unresectable), and is negative for resistance mutations in blood. Treatment with panitumumab may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Some tumors need growth factors to keep growing. Growth factor antagonists, such as regorafenib, may interfere with the growth factor and stop the tumor from growing. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as TAS-102, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving panitumumab may work better in treating patients with colorectal cancer than with the usual treatment of regorafenib or TAS-102.
