NCT05639556
The goal of the study is to examine multiple markers of anthropometrics, body composition, sarcopenia and frailty and compare them to dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) output, which is considered the current clinical gold-standard tool to measure body composition. The result of this study will provide detailed data regarding the nutrition and body composition within this Cystic Fibrosis population and also provide a baseline evaluation for use of these biomarkers in the future studies including evaluation of nutritional intervention. Further, the study will also include psychosocial and other patient-reported outcomes and medical contributors to understand their contributions to the nutritional failure in the adult advanced lung disease population. Finally, the study will evaluate both established and emerging nutritional and body composition parameters and link them to clinical outcomes in adults with CF across the spectrum of pulmonary function.

NCT06966362
In order to reduce the prevalence of cigarette smoking among Veterans, it is vital that healthcare providers offer effective tobacco treatment to all Veterans who smoke, including those not ready to make a quit attempt. Smoking treatments currently available to Veterans who are not ready to quit are only weakly effective. This project will generate new knowledge about the effectiveness of a promising varenicline-based intervention designed to increase quit attempts and long-term abstinence in Veterans who are initially not ready to quit. This project has great potential to engage Veterans not ready to quit smoking in treatment that increases quit attempts and quitting success, thereby reducing morbidity and mortality caused by smoking in Veterans.

The main questions it aims to answer are: * What is the safe dose of KQB548? * Does KQB548 decrease the size of the tumor? * What happens to KQB548 in the body?
NCT05330325
The study compares two medicines for treatment of children born small and who stay small, or with Turner Syndrome, Noonan Syndrome, or idiopathic short stature. The purpose of the study is to see how well treatment with somapacitan works compared to treatment with Norditropin®. Somapacitan is a new medicine, and Norditropin® is a medicine doctors can already prescribe in some countries. The study will last for upto 5.5 years. The participants will either get somapacitan once a week up to 5.5 years or Norditropin® once a day for 1 year followed by somapacitan once a week for up to 4.5 years. Which treatment the participants get is decided by chance.

NCT06645847
This study aims to find out if a food supplement that contains a naturally occurring substance, ketones, can help to improve strength and general wellness in adults at, or over the age of 65 years who are experiencing a slight decline in their physical function. Participation will involve a screening visit and 4 additional study visits over the course of 20 weeks. After being assessed for eligibility, study participants will be sorted into two groups at random and consume either a ketone or placebo supplement at home every day for 20 weeks. Both study products can cause gastro-intestinal side effects in some individuals. At all study visits, subjects will provide blood samples. At three study visits, subjects will be asked to complete physical performance tests, provide blood, stool and urine samples. They will also complete questionnaires during three study visits to assess physical function, markers of inflammation, and other aspects of general well-being. The study enrolls at three sites across the United States, in California (Buck Institute), Ohio (Ohio State University), and Connecticut (University of Connecticut). The study is coordinated by the San Francisco Coordinating Center (California Pacific Medical Center).

NCT05115110
Risdiplam works by helping the body produce more survival motor neuron (SMN) protein throughout the body. This means fewer motor neurons - nerve cells that pass impulses from nerves to muscles to cause movement - are lost, which may improve how well muscles work in people with SMA. RO7204239 is an investigational anti-myostatin antibody that is designed to target myostatin. Myostatin plays an important role in the regulation of skeletal muscle size by controlling growth. Inhibiting myostatin may help muscles grow in size and strength. RO7204239 in combination with risdiplam, which is designed to increase the amount of SMN protein throughout the body, has the potential to further improve motor function and clinical outcomes for people living with SMA. This trial will study the safety and efficacy of RO7204239 in combination with risdiplam in patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The trial has two parts; Part 1 is the dose-finding part in SMA patients that are either ambulant (aged 2-10 years) or non-ambulant (aged 5-10 years) within separate cohorts, and Part 2 is the pivotal part in SMA patients aged 2-25 years that are ambulant.
NCT06926062
This clinical trial compares usual care to interpersonal communication training and vaccination workflow training, alone or in combination, for improving communication about and recommendations for human papillomavirus (HPV) and other vaccinations in pharmacies. Low HPV vaccination in the United States has placed unvaccinated children at risk of developing cancers as adults that could have been prevented. Pharmacies can be convenient for vaccination because they are open longer hours, have shorter wait times, can see patients without appointments and may cost less. However, many people are not aware that vaccination is available in pharmacies and some pharmacies lack the commitment from staff to vaccinate or may not have protocols in place for vaccination. Proactive communication approaches to recommending HPV vaccination have been shown to be effective in medical offices but have not been tested in the pharmacy setting. Interpersonal communication training incorporates the 5 A's (assess, advice, agree, assist and arrange) behavioral counseling framework to strongly recommend HPV and other vaccines and effectively answer any questions or concerns about vaccination. Vaccination workflow training establishes vaccination decision support strategies that pharmacies use to improve vaccination workflows. Interpersonal communication training and vaccination workflow training alone or in combination may improve communication and recommendations for HPV vaccination and increase HPV vaccination in pharmacies.
