NCT02573363
This phase I trial studies the side effects and the best dose of selinexor when give together with standard chemotherapy, high dose cytarabine and mitoxantrone hydrochloride, in treating patients with acute myeloid leukemia. Selinexor may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cytarabine and mitoxantrone hydrochloride, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving selinexor together with standard chemotherapy may be a better treatment for patients with acute myeloid leukemia.
NCT01829711
Background: \- Moxetumomab pasudotox is an experimental non-chemotherapy cancer treatment drug. It targets CD22, a molecule on the surface of essentially all hairy cell leukemia cells. Moxetumomab pasudotox binds to CD22, goes into the cell, and releases a toxin which kills the cell. In a phase I trial it had activity in relapsed/refractory hairy cell leukemia with safety profile supporting further clinical study (http://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22355053). This is a phase III multicenter trial designed to confirm these results.
NCT02470806
The aim of this study is to compare the clinical efficacy of two types of NPWT systems; the traditional negative pressure wound therapy (tNPWT) system and the single-use negative pressure wound therapy (PICO) system.
NCT00774137
People who undergo coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or heart valve surgery may experience acute kidney injury (AKI) after their surgery. Current medical tests cannot identify AKI until approximately 48 hours after it occurs. This study will examine three new biomarkers in blood and urine that may provide a more effective and faster way of predicting AKI in people who undergo CABG or heart valve surgery.
NCT00841802
This is a study to evaluate the cause of chronic sinus disease. Oral steroids have long been used in the treatment of inflammatory conditions including chronic sinusitis, asthma, and arthritis. However, it is not well known exactly which patients will benefit from steroids when used in the treatment of chronic sinusitis. For some doctors, it is common practice to use these medications prior to planned sinus surgery, to lessen the inflammation and possibly help the healing process. Other doctors feel oral steroids may not be helpful in this way, and there is no conclusive data as to whether this practice has a long term benefit.
NCT02988115
The purpose of this study is to determine if bempedoic acid (ETC-1002) is effective and safe versus placebo in patients with elevated LDL cholesterol and who are statin-intolerant.
NCT00006229
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether paclitaxel and carboplatin are more effective with or without BMS-275291 for non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II/III trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin with or without BMS-275291 in treating patients who have advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.
NCT02397694
This study will evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of bictegravir (BIC) + emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (F/TAF) fixed dose combination (FDC) versus dolutegravir (DTG) + F/TAF in HIV-1 Infected, antiretroviral treatment-naive adults. This study will also evaluate the pharmacokinetic (PK) profile of BIC, emtricitabine and TAF.
NCT01318902
This study will include participants with previously treated systemic relapsed or refractory light-chain (AL) amyloidosis who require further therapy and will be aimed at determining the safety profile and the maximum tolerated dose/recommended phase 2 dose of MLN9078 (Ixazomib) administered orally.
NCT00005971
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of flavopiridol in treating patients who have metastatic malignant melanoma.
NCT00002807
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage cancer cells. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy is more effective than observation only after sugery in treating endometrial cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying radiation therapy to see how well it works compared to observation only in treating patients with stage I or stage II endometrial cancer who have undergone hysterectomy and oophorectomy.
NCT00003892
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of ISIS 5132 in treating patients who have metastatic or recurrent ovarian cancer that has not responded to previous chemotherapy.
NCT00002633
RATIONALE: Hormones can stimulate the growth of prostate cancer cells. Hormone therapy may fight prostate cancer by reducing the production of androgens. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known whether hormone therapy plus surgery is more effective than hormone therapy plus radiation therapy for prostate cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying giving hormone therapy alone to see how well it works compared to giving hormone therapy together with bilateral orchiectomy or radiation therapy in treating patients with stage III or stage IV prostate cancer.
NCT00003011
RATIONALE: Marimastat may stop the growth of lung cancer by stopping blood flow to the tumor. It is not yet known if marimastat is an effective treatment for small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of marimastat with a placebo following chemotherapy in treating patients who have small cell lung cancer.
NCT00003232
RATIONALE: Some drugs used in chemotherapy can reduce the pain experienced by some people with cancer. Combining more than one drug may be more effective at reducing cancer pain. It is not known whether receiving combination chemotherapy with clodronate is more effective than receiving combination chemotherapy without clodronate for hormone refractory metastatic prostate cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized double-blinded phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy using mitoxantrone plus prednisone with or without clodronate in treating pain in patients with hormone refractory metastatic prostate cancer.
NCT00006890
RATIONALE: Thalidomide may stop the growth of multiple myeloma by stopping blood flow to the tumor. Prednisone may be effective in preventing relapse of multiple myeloma. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to compare the effectiveness of two doses of thalidomide combined with prednisone following peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have multiple myeloma.
NCT00002678
