NCT00290862
Doctors are studying an investigational treatment to be used during the vertebroplasty procedure when treating vertebral compression fractures (spine fractures) that may help to reduce pain and restore mobility. If one has experienced back pain for at least 4 weeks but not longer than 1 year, he/she may be eligible to participate. The purpose of this protocol is to describe the methods for the clinical evaluation of Cortoss for vertebroplasty in patients with painful osteoporotic compression fractures. Eligible patients with painful osteoporotic compression fractures of the spine are divided into two groups. Each enrolled patient will have the vertebroplasty procedure; however one group of patients will have the vertebroplasty procedure using polymethylmethacrylate \[PMMA\] (a Food and Drug Administration \[FDA\]-approved bone cement) and the other group of patients will have the vertebroplasty procedure using a relatively new (investigational) biomaterial called Cortoss.
NCT00000751
To evaluate the effect of anti-HIV immune serum globulin (HIVIG) versus immune globulin (IVIG) administered during pregnancy and to the newborn, in combination with zidovudine (AZT) administered intrapartum and to the newborn, on incidence of HIV infection in infants born to HIV-infected women who received AZT during pregnancy for medical indications. Vertical transmission of HIV from mother to child may occur before, during, or after parturition (via breast-feeding). It is believed that therapy administered both during pregnancy and intrapartum may help prevent vertical transmission. Additionally, adjunctive short-term antiretroviral therapy for the newborn, following the intensive viral exposure presumed to occur at birth, may be necessary.
NCT00150410
* Whether a combination of three therapies - metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Exubera, an investigational drug, controls your diabetes at least as much as a triple combination therapy of metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Avandia, a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drug. * Whether a combination of two therapies - metformin plus Exubera controls your diabetes at least as much as a as a triple combination therapy of metformin and a sulfonylurea plus Avandia.
NCT00234962
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of adherence on HIV antiviral response to treatment regimens containing Kaletra or other HIV protease inhibitors.
NCT00269230
People who have abnormal heart beats, or whose heart does not beat on its own, may need an electronic device called a pacemaker or a defibrillator. Furthermore, people whose hearts have a reduced pumping ability may need a device are called cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device. A CRT device is implanted surgically just under the skin in the upper chest area. This device then helps the heart beat at a regular rhythm by sending electrical signals (pacing) directly to the heart tissue through flexible wires called leads. The device may also be able to stop the heart from beating too fast. Three leads are implanted into the chambers of your heart. Two of the leads will be placed on the right side of your heart. The third lead is placed on the left side of your heart and is the lead being studied. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Attain StarFixTM Model 4195 Left Ventricular (LV) Lead. This particular model lead has special characteristics that may help to better keep it in position once it is implanted into the left ventricle. It is also "steroid-eluting" which means that over time it slowly releases a small amount of medication into the heart tissue to help prevent too much swelling around the area it is implanted.
NCT00712504
This study is determining the maximum tolerated dose and safety of SU011248 (sunitinib malate, SUTENT) in combination with docetaxel (Taxotere). Several dosing regimens will be tested in patients with advanced solid tumors, including non small cell lung cancer.
NCT00207103
This is a Phase I dose escalation study to determine the safety, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of BMS-582664 in patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumors.
NCT00231049
This is a randomized, multi-center, sequential, dose-escalating study of three dose cohorts of AG-707. Individuals who meet all of the inclusion and exclusion criteria for eligibility will be randomized to receive either AG-707 (at the 80 µg dose), AG-707 with QS-21 (at the 80 µg dose), placebo, or QS-21. Each patient will be monitored for safety as specified in the protocol.
NCT00090376
In this phase II study, an investigative (not approved by the FDA) drug called GPI 1485 is being assessed to see if it can help preserve erectile function after prostatectomy.
NCT00036283
Reduction in size and number of oral premalignant lesions
NCT00139685
To evaluate and compare Bone Mineral Density (BMD) in adolescent Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection (DP150CI) users during depo medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) therapy and following discontinuation of DMPA. Another group electing non-hormonal contraception or abstinence will be recruited as a reference population, across all study sites. The primary variable is BMD, measured by Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA). Secondary variables are: Total Body Composition\& Total Body Calcium (TBC), measured by Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA), and surrogate biologic BMD markers. Safety will be evaluated by adverse event reporting, laboratory evaluations, pregnancies, weight and vital signs.
NCT00092001
The purpose of this study is to test whether SU011248 has activity and is safe in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have failed a platinum-containing regimen and docetaxel.
NCT00319878
Aplastic anemia is a rare autoimmune disorder in which the bone marrow production of blood cells is greatly decreased or absent. Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, tiny reddish-purple marks on the skin, abnormal bruising, and bleeding from the gums, nose, or intestine. While some cases of aplastic anemia are caused by medications, toxic exposures, or inherited genes, most often the cause remains unknown. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of combining two drugs, sirolimus and cyclosporine, for treating individuals with aplastic anemia that has not responded to other treatments.
NCT00275197
The major purpose of the study is to help determine whether giving the combination of Elzasonan with Zoloft to people with depression is a better treatment than taking Zoloft alone. This study will also compare the safety and tolerability of Elzasonan and Zoloft combination to Zoloft alone or placebo.

NCT00494663
DiObex Inc. is developing an experimental drug (DIO-902) that is made up of part of the ketoconazole molecule for the treatment of elevated blood glucose associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Ketoconazole (Nizoral®) is a drug available by prescription for the treatment of fungal infections however DIO-902 is an investigational drug. DIO-902 may lower blood glucose by lowering levels of a naturally occurring hormone called cortisol. Elevated cortisol may contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this research study is to test the safety of DIO-902 when taken by mouth with metformin and the cholesterol-lowering drug atorvastatin to determine the type and severity of any side effects from this treatment. Other purposes of the study are to see how the treatment affects your blood glucose levels, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and waist circumference.
