NCT00095030
The purpose of this clinical research study is to learn whether a muraglitazar-metformin combination is at least as effective as a glimepiride-metformin combination to treat type 2 diabetics who are not sufficiently controlled with metformin alone. The safety of this treatment will also be studied.
NCT00096720
Study participants who have been clinically diagnosed with Parkinson disease will receive no treatment, treatment with either levodopa, or treatment with Mirapex for a period of 12 weeks. Over the course of the study subjects will travel to the Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders (IND) in New Haven, Connecticut for brain imaging.
NCT00807937
The purpose of this research study is to determine whether AstraZeneca's drug AZD7325 is safe and effective in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.
NCT00051259
The purpose of this trial is to study the effects of two depression medications on sexual functioning.
NCT00077974
To assess the safety and efficacy of SU011248 in patients with metastatic, refractory renal cell carcinoma
NCT00083135
RATIONALE: Giving iodine I 131 metaiodobenzylguanidine (\^131I-MIBG) may kill neuroblastoma cells by delivering radiation directly to the tumor. A stem cell transplant using the patient's stem cells may be able to replace blood-forming cells destroyed by radiation therapy. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of a double infusion of \^131I-MIBG followed by autologous stem cell transplantation in treating patients with refractory neuroblastoma.
NCT00715637
Amonafide is a DNA intercalating agent and inhibitor of topoisomerase II that has been extensively studied in patients with malignant solid tumors. Amonafide has also been studied in patients with AML. The purpose of this study is to assess the relative efficacy and safety of amonafide in combination with cytarabine compared to daunorubicin with cytarabine in subjects with documented secondary AML.
NCT00053638
This is a 48-week study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a new tablet formulation containing two FDA-approved drugs in HIV-infected patients who have not received prior therapy. This tablet will be taken with one of two FDA-approved drugs as a once-daily regimen. Study physicians will evaluate subjects to determine if they have certain medical conditions, laboratory test values, medication use, or drug allergies that would exclude them from the study.
NCT00848081
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of tadalafil when given to men who are currently taking a medication called an alpha blocker for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms (such as urinary frequency, urgency, and a feeling that the bladder is not completely emptied after urination).
NCT00049465
RATIONALE: Telephone counseling by trained counselors may enhance the well-being and quality of life of patients who have undergone stem cell transplantation for cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized clinical trial to compare the effectiveness of standard follow-up care with extended follow-up care in treating patients who have undergone stem cell transplantation for cancer.
NCT00045292
RATIONALE: Antivirals such as valacyclovir act against viruses and may be effective in preventing cytomegalovirus. It is not yet known if valacyclovir is effective in preventing cytomegalovirus in patients undergoing stem cell transplantation. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of valacyclovir in preventing cytomegalovirus in patients who are undergoing donor stem cell transplantation.
NCT00382980
The purpose of this research study is to compare how the body reacts to different strengths of an experimental cell culture-grown whole virus A/H5N1 flu vaccine when given with or without the addition of aluminum hydroxide adjuvant. Researchers will also look at how much antibody is made to the influenza virus hemagglutinin (HA) after subjects receive the H5N1 vaccine. Three hundred healthy adults aged 18-40 years will participate for approximately 9 months, which includes screening. Participants will receive 2 doses of vaccine or placebo injected 28 days apart. Participants will have blood samples taken up to 7 times and have 8 scheduled study visits.
NCT00031473
The purpose of this study is to test the safety and effectiveness of ribavirin, administered as an aerosol, in preventing progression of upper respiratory tract RSV infection to RSV pneumonia in bone marrow and peripheral blood transplant recipients.
NCT00570336
The purpose of this study is to determine if CTS-1027 can lower elevated liver enzymes in patients with chronic HCV infection.
NCT00407095
This study is a multicenter, 9 months, open label extension study for all patients who are willing and eligible to continue from the pivotal, double-blind S308.3.002 study.
NCT00985218
The purpose of this study is to compare the development of human embryos grown in a conventional culture dish to those grown in a new embryo culture device known as the SMART System.
NCT00397293
This is an open label, multicenter Phase I/II study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of AT-101 in combination with topotecan in relapsed/refractory small cell lung cancer
NCT00928057
Anxiety about needles is a commonly expressed concern by diabetics about beginning insulin therapy. A shorter, thinner pen needle that delivers insulin with the safety and efficacy profile of currently marketed pen needles may appeal to many diabetic patients as the new needle may be perceived as less intimidating and more comfortable. Currently marketed pen needles range in length from 5 to 12.7 millimeters (mm). The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the investigational 4mm x 32 Gauge(G) pen needle manufactured by Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) provides equivalent glucose control (as measured by fructosamine levels) as the currently marketed BD 5mm x 31 G and BD 8mm x 31 G pen needles (PN)in diabetic subjects with varying insulin dosage regimens.
NCT00004158
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy using holmium Ho 166 DOTMP may damage cancer cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy used to kill cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of radiation therapy using holmium Ho 166 DOTMP plus melphalan and peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have multiple myeloma.
NCT00428597
This study randomized patients with advanced pancreatic islet cell tumors to receive either sunitinib or placebo. Patients who were randomized to sunitinib received 37.5 mg of sunitinib daily, those randomized to placebo received a tablet that looked similar but had no active drug. Neither the patient or the doctor knew whether the patient was receiving sunitinib or placebo. Patients were followed to determine the status and size of their tumors, survival, quality of life and safety of the drug. The study was designed to detect a 50% improvement in median PFS\[Progression Free Survival\] with 90% power and was to enroll 340 subjects. An interim analysis was planned when 130 events had occurred, and the final analysis was to be conducted when 260 events had occurred. Study A6181111 was stopped early during the enrollment period because of a clear and clinically meaningful improvement in efficacy for the sunitinib treatment arm as recommended by the DMC \[Data Monitoring Committee\]. The actual number of subjects enrolled was 171 and the actual number of PFS events recorded was 81 PFS events. The decision to terminate the study was not based on safety concerns related to sunitinib administration.
