NCT04905459
This is a multicenter, observational study with primary endpoints to determine the sensitivity and specificity of two investigational software devices that detect the presence of more than mild diabetic retinopathy (mtmDR) in healthcare settings.
NCT01646814
This trial is a Phase 2, randomized, controlled study to compare the degree of mucosal injury after the oral administration of an investigational product, PL2200, and a marketed 325 mg immediate-release aspirin product.
NCT05097157
Subjects are to be enrolled in this clinical study if they are 18 - 55 years old. Up to 120 subjects will be enrolled at multiple study centers. Subjects may receive up to 5 treatments for a wide array of dermatologic conditions in which electrocoagulation and hemostasis is a viable mechanism for means of improvement.
NCT00001277
Observational Phase: Patients whose parathyroid activity is elevated above normal are referred to as having hyperparathyroidism. This study will help researchers better understand the causes of hyperparathyroidism and to evaluate and improve methods for diagnosis and treatment. Patients diagnosed with or suspected of having hyperparathyroidism will be selected to participate. In addition, patients with related conditions, such as parathyroid tumors, will also be selected. Subjects will be asked to provide blood and urine for testing to confirm their condition. They will then be surgically treated by removal of the parathyroid gland(s) (parathyroidectomy). Subjects with parathyroid tumors will undergo several diagnostic tests to determine the exact location of the tumor as well as the tumor's activity. The tests may include; ultrasounds, nuclear scanning, CT scans, MRI, and specialized blood testing. Sometimes parathyroidectomy leads to hypoparathyroidism. Options for treating the patients after the surgical procedure will also be addressed. Calcium and Vitamin D supplements are typically the mainstay of post parathyroidectomy therapy. Other potential treatments include transplanting the parathyroid gland(s) to other areas of the body. Clinical Trial: An imaging substudy was added to this protocol in 2018. Patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) will have 68Gallium-Dotatate Positron Emission Tomography (PET) - Computed Tomography (CT), 18F-DOPA PET/CT, MRI, and CT scans and the number of lesions detected by each of these types of scans will be compared.
NCT00027183
Some bacteria that cause disease can produce toxic substances that may worsen the disease. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bacteria that can produce a variety of toxins and is of special interest for patients with cystic fibrosis and repeated long term lung infections. The goal of this study is to determine whether specific toxins produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa may be important in the disease process of chronic lung infections of patients with cystic fibrosis. This study will attempt to measure bacterial production of toxins in blood and sputum and immune system response to toxins in the blood....
NCT00001183
Chronic lung diseases are disorders associated with abnormalities in any of the structures involved in the process of breathing and bringing oxygen into the lungs and blood. This includes abnormalities in the airways, lungs, blood vessels in and around the lungs, and the tissue covering the lungs (pleura). The purpose of this research study is to evaluate patients referred to the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Branch of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in order to; 1. Develop a better understanding of the causes and disease processes involved in disorders of the lungs 2. Identify patients eligible to participate in other P-CCMB research studies
NCT03686904
This is a prospective, randomized, double-blinded, single site study examining the impact of a biofilm-based treatment of chronic wounds of the lower extremity. 200 subjects will be enrolled in this study. Benzalkonium solution wound irrigation and Benzalkonium wound gel will be compared to standard of care wound preparation and dressing (NS wound irrigation and hydrocolloid gel) following local debridement. Wounds will be assessed maximum of 12 weeks with a minimum of 4 follow up visits. Patients will be recruited from the general wound clinic population. No enticement will be offered and participation will be completely voluntary. At enrollment and at each follow up visit the wound will be assessed for size (length, width, and depth), signs of infection or irritation, qualitative and quantitative cultures will be taken before and after debridement, patients will be assessed for compliance to the treatment protocol, satisfaction with their treatment, any adverse effects of the treatment, and hospitalizations since last assessment. It is anticipated that enrollment and completion of the study will take 1 year.
NCT04817085
This study is designed to evaluate the clinical utility and safety of the Visant Medical Canalicular Plug compared to a commercially available canalicular plug.
NCT01070069
To determine the safety and effectiveness of PEVAR.
NCT04350593
This is an international, multicenter, parallel-group, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled, study in hospitalized adult patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, India, Canada, and United Kingdom. The study is evaluating the effect of dapagliflozin 10 milligrams versus placebo, given once daily for 30 days in addition to background local standard of care therapy, on reducing complications and all-cause mortality, or improving clinical recovery.
NCT04201418
To evaluate the effectiveness of patisiran in patients with ATTRv amyloidosis with polyneuropathy who have a V122I or T60A mutation.
NCT01434290
RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. Given radiation therapy in different ways may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial studies radiation therapy to see how well it works in treating patients with prostate cancer.
NCT02625610
The purpose of this study was to demonstrate superiority of treatment with avelumab versus continuation of first-line chemotherapy.
NCT01809704
To demonstrate clinical substantial equivalence of DRI OCT-1 as comparable to the commercially available Cirrus
NCT03395704
This study is a Phase 2 multicenter, randomized, placebo controlled, single-blind study. The primary objective of the study is to compare the effect of weekly dosing of LJPC-401 (synthetic human hepcidin) versus placebo on transferrin saturation (TSAT) in an adult hereditary hemochromatosis patient population.
NCT03067675
The objective of this study is to collect OCT measurement data on normal healthy eyes.
NCT04331080
The purpose of this study is to evaluate effectiveness of Granexin® gel in reducing scar formation in surgical incisional wounds.
NCT00454220
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of 2 different doses of modified-release recombinant human thyroid stimulating hormone (MRrhTSH) when administered with radioiodine in patients with multinodular goiter, a condition that involves the enlargement of the thyroid gland. We will also evaluate the safety and effectiveness of radioiodine therapy alone in these patients. The goal of the treatment is to determine if there was a reduction in the size of the goiter and to study if goiter symptoms have improved after 6 months and after 36 months.
NCT02348203
This randomized phase II trial studies the effects of aspirin and zileuton on genes related to tobacco use in current smokers. Aspirin and zileuton may interfere with genes related to tobacco use and may be useful in preventing lung cancer in current smokers.
