At present, pediatric postoperative analgesia has not been fully understood and controlled, particularly craniotomy surgery. On the one hand, professional evaluation of postoperative pain for young children is difficult; on the other hand, the particularity of craniotomy adds (such as consciousness obstacle, sleepiness, et al) disturbance to the pain assessment in children. Although opioids administration is regarded as the first-line analgesic for post-craniotomy pain management, it may be associated with delayed awakening, respiratory depression, hypercarbia and it may interfere with the neurologic examination. For the avoidance of side-effects of systemic opioids, local anesthetics administered around the incision have been performed clinically. However, some studies revealed that the analgesic effect of local anesthetics was unsatisfactory due to its short pain relief duration, steroid as adjuvant can enhance postoperative analgesia and prolong postoperative analgesia time. As is reported that postoperative pain of craniotomy is mainly caused by skin incision and reflection of muscles, preventing the liberation of inflammatory mediators around the incision seems to be more effective than simply blocking nerve conduction. Researchers have clarified that the addition of dexamethasone to local infiltration of analgesia could provide significant analgesic effects and significantly prolong the duration of analgesic effects without obvious complications for various types of surgeries. To date, no studies have evaluated the addition of dexamethasone to local infiltration for patients receiving craniotomy. Thus, investigators suppose that pre-emptive scalp infiltration with steroid (Dexamethasone) plus local anesthetic (ropivacaine) could relieve postoperative pain after craniotomy in children.

The treatment of distant metastasis is a key challenge for nasopharyngeal carcinoma because of poor outcomes, among which, chemotherapy is the cornerstone. However, many studies reported the use of different chemotherapy regimens to prolong the survival of metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma, while few of them focused on how to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy or improve the life quality of patients. Thus, we sought to find an efficient chemotherapy regimen with high tolerance according to the characteristics of chemotherapy drugs, that is, to explore the efficacy and safety of platinum plus 5-fluorouracil with continuous intravenous infusion at a low dose for a long term.

Fractures of the upper femur (EFSF) represent a major public health problem in the elderly. Approximately 1.6 million patients are victims each year of an EFSF and this number is increasing as a result of the aging of the population. In a recent Amiens retrospective study the mortality was estimated to be 22.5% at 1 year of the fracture. In surviving patients, the impact on loss of autonomy and degradation of quality of life is considerable. The reduction of the incidence of post-operative complications includes the identification of risk factors. No prospective study in Amiens has investigated the mortality and the study of the variables involved in the prognosis and long-term mortality of these patients.

This is a proof of concept, single-arm study to investigate crenolanib monotherapy in patients with recurrent/refractory glioblastoma with PDGFRA gene amplification by assessing the progression-free survival (PFS) at 6 months. Crenolanib will be given orally starting at 100 mg TID continuously until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, or consent withdrawal.

The recommended measurement was gradually replaced by colour or pulsed Doppler without validation of these techniques. To our knowledge no study has evaluated neither feasible methods for the assessment of anthropometric profile nor indirect methods to estimate energy expenditure (EE) for adapted athletes. The primary aim is to develop and validate new RMR prediction models, for the estimation of the resting metabolic rate from anthropometric variables in young Mexican Paralympic athletes; our second objective is to evaluate the agreement between RMR and the prediction models of Cunningham, Harris-Benedict, Henry, Valencia, Chun, Nightingale \& Gorgey, FAO/WHO, Mifflin, Müller, Owen, and our own models. A comparative cross-sectional quantitative study was designed. Participants report to the testing laboratory only once for data collection. The Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology criteria guidelines for cross-sectional research (STROBE) is followed in the design/reporting of this study.

Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) can be helpful to improve the psychiatric, emotional, physical,and social status in patients with physical and mental illness and the elderly. The study aims to investigate the effects of AAT program in middle-aged and older patients with schizophrenia. The investigators will recruit 40 patients with schizophrenia in psychiatric ward randomised into AAT group and control group. AAT group will complete the 12-week program. This study contains two assessment sessions before and after intervention, including PANSS, ACIS, MoCA-T, CHI, DASS-21, CST, TUG and 5MWT.

Iron deficiency is the most prevalent nutritional deficiency worldwide with one in four estimated to be affected by iron deficiency anaemia. Women of reproductive age are at greatest risk for iron deficiency and anaemia due to iron losses during menstruation and childbirth as well as the increased need for iron throughout pregnancy. However, iron deficiency without anaemia is at least twice as common as iron deficiency anaemia with females aged 11-49 at the biggest risk of all. Despite this, it is commonly left undiagnosed. Those who are iron deficient non-anaemic can still suffer from the same common consequences of iron deficiency anaemia; these include unexplained fatigue, mood changes and decreased cognitive performance. It is postulated that for any cognitive and behavioural change to occur, a complementary change in neural functioning is required. A recent cross-sectional study has identified increases in cognitive demand to produce decrements in measures of cognitive performance and increases in brain activity and metabolic measures; the magnitude of such are evidenced to be directly related to iron status. However, such measures do not provide an estimate of overall oxygen consumption that is specific to the brain in order to be able to associate changes in cognitive performance and energy expenditure specifically to the brain itself. The current study aims to investigate the parallel effects of iron supplementation on cerebral haemodynamics and energy metabolism to determine the ability of iron to modulate whole body energy metabolism and utilisation of metabolic substrates at rest and during cognitive demand in a sample of non-anaemic iron deficient and iron sufficient women of reproductive age.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of an extension of conventional urine diagnostics with mass spectrometry in patients with a suspected UTI. Mass spectrometry is done directly from the urine sample (without an intermediate bacterial culture).The primary outcome is the time from the entry of a urine sample in the microbiological laboratory to the adequate/optimal/definitive treatment. Secondary outcomes are the time to diagnosis of a therapy relevant UTI, the quantity of antibiotics prescribed per patient and ward and a comparison of the length of hospital stay.
