NCT04912193
The reno-protective effect of Antithrombin III (ATIII) has been well-studied in various animal studies; however, little is known about the effect of ATIII on kidney function in patients undergoing liver transplantation (LT). This study aimed to determine the association between preoperative ATIII level and postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) after LT (post-LT AKI).
NCT02661555
The purpose of the project is to investigate how aerobic exercise affects brain volume, specific brain regions, neurotrophins and cognition in patients with multiple sclerosis. The study will be a single blinded randomized controlled trial with a 6 months intervention. It is hypothesized that aerobic exercise can slow down brain atrophy, increase the size of hippocampus, upregulate the secretion of neurotrophins and improve cognitive performance in people with multiple sclerosis.
NCT02633631

NCT04909307
Platinum-based chemotherapy, alternating at 21-days intervals with cycles of ifosfamide, cisplatin, and etoposide (ICE) and subsequently received radiotherapy were considered as standard treatment for intracranial germ cell tumors. However, whether reliable clinical data can quantify the damage degree of immunologic function caused by chemotherapy and radiotherapy is still unknown. This project regards the level of lymphocyte and immunocyte in peripheral blood as a quantitative index to reflect the dynamic change of the immunologic function of patients with CNS germ cell tumors before and after chemoradiotherapy treatment. Meanwhile, the investigators will also investigate the relationship between the level of lymphocyte and immunocyte in peripheral blood and the response rate of therapy. This study is designed to prospectively analyze the dynamic changes of immune status, prognosis and society function after standard treatment in patients with intracranial germ cell tumor.
NCT04376177
Transversal recording and analysis of investigations performed in patients referred for suspected thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS)
NCT04642664
The investigators design a prospective clinical study to explore the efficacy and safety of apatinib plus camrelizumab in pretreated patients with advanced biliary tract malignant tumors and to analyze potential biomarkers of therapeutic response.
NCT03627572
The REspiratory Syncytial virus Consortium in EUrope (RESCEU) is an Innovative Medicine Initiative (IMI) effort funded by the EU under the H2020 framework to define and understand the burden of disease caused by human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. RSV causes severe disease in individuals at the extremes of the age spectrum and in high risk groups. It was estimated that RSV was associated with 34 million cases of acute respiratory tract infection (ARTI), 3.4 million ARTI hospitalizations and 55,000 to 199,000 deaths in children \<5 years in 2005 worldwide. These estimates were based on limited data and there is a substantial gap in knowledge on morbidity and associated healthcare and social costs in Europe. New vaccines and therapeutics against RSV are in development and will soon be available on the European market. RESCEU will deliver knowledge of the incidence and burden of disease RSV in young children and older adults in Europe, which is essential for stakeholders (governments, etc) to take decisions about prophylaxis and treatment. Objective: To determine the burden of disease due to RSV in young children. Study design: Prospective epidemiological, observational, multi-country, multicenter cohort study. Study population: Birth cohort of healthy infants (follow-up from birth until the age of 3 years maximum): * Passive birth cohort (n=9,000). * Active birth cohort (n=1,000). Main study parameters/endpoints: The primary endpoint of the study is the incidence of RSV infection-associated ARTI, RSV associated medically attended (MA) ARTI (active birth cohort) and RSV related hospitalization (passive birth cohort) in infants (\< 1 year) during 3 RSV seasons. In addition, a major secondary endpoint is RSV attributable burden of wheezing.
NCT04912219
We hypothesize that a series of treatments with a microneedling protocol will lead to increased dermal thickness as measured by biopsy, ultrasound, and skin calipometry; an improvement in dermatology-related quality of life; and a reduction in the number of ecchymoses and skin tears, of the research subjects.
NCT01894477
This randomized phase II trial studies how well treosulfan and fludarabine phosphate, with or without total body irradiation before donor stem cell transplant works in treating patients with myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myeloid leukemia. Giving chemotherapy, such as treosulfan and fludarabine phosphate, and total-body irradiation before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It may also stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can also make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving tacrolimus before and mycophenolate mofetil after the transplant may stop this from happening.
NCT03579888
This phase I trial investigates the side effects and best dose of CD19 positive (+) specific CAR-T cells in treating patients with CD19+ lymphoid malignancies, such as acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, small lymphocytic lymphoma, or chronic lymphocytic lymphoma. Sometimes researchers change the genetic material in the cells of a patient's T cells using a process called gene transfer. Researchers then inject the changed T-cells into the patient's body. Receiving the T-cell infusion may help to control the disease.
NCT04911010
Effectiveness of trauma therapy using prolonged exposure for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in patients with comorbid psychotic disorder
NCT04896710
Point-of-care testing can provide an additional layer of protection to reduce transmission of COVID-19 safely and effectively in the population, and if such tests can be self-administered, barriers to access may be reduced. The investigators will conduct a study among those self-identifying as asymptomatic for COVID-19 to evaluate the reliability and feasibility of self-administration of a point-of-care nasal swab test, determine the sensitivity and specificity of the point-of-care nasal swab test relative to reverse transciptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing, and gather quantitative and qualitative data on the acceptability and self efficacy of self-administration.
NCT04911179
Randomized clinical trial of 310 older adults over 75 years old recruited from the Falls Units of Geriatric Departments in 4 three University Hospitals in Spain (Pamplona, San Sebastián, Albacete and Barcelona). Participants who met inclusion criteria will be randomized to the usual care group (Otago exercise program) or the Vivifrail-Cog Intervention (a combination of physical exercise Vivifrail program and cognitive training). The main objective of the present randomized clinical trial is to investigate the effect of the combined intervention (exercise and cognitive intervention) in frail older participants living in the community and at risk of falling. The main endpoint will be the rate of falling in the following year. Secondary endpoints include physical performance, muscle strength, cognitive performance, hospitalizations, institutionalization, depression and quality of life.
NCT04766203
Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S) characterizes a range of negative health and performance outcomes that result from chronically low energy availability. RED-S concerns high performance junior and senior athletes across Canada and has a prevalence rate of 3-60%. Our ability to assess and diagnose RED-S remains poor. Accordingly, we aim to create the best parameters to diagnose and manage RED-S; along with information of the prevalence and severity across Canada and globally. These outcomes are expected to have a significant positive impact on the health and performance of Canadian athletes in preparation for the Olympic Games in 2022 and beyond.
NCT04715880
Thoracotomy is a surgical procedure associated with severe post operative pain during the first day of surgery and is responsible for prolonged hospital stay, patient dissatisfaction and delayed return to normal activities along with increased morbidity and mortality. Investigators intend to compare the efficacy of two analgesic interventions (continuous infusion of paravertebral block (PVB) after loading dose compared with intercostal nerve block and continuous infusion of PVB without loading dose) on postoperative thoracotomy pain. The results of this study will direct the investigators to find the best practice methods which will reduce the postoperative thoracotomy pain, the overall cost of pain management and length of patient's hospital stay.
NCT04907318
The primary objective of the study is to observe the rotational stability of the implant 30 minutes, one day, 6 weeks, 6 months and 12 months after the implant surgery. In addition, the refraction will be measured as it is directly affected in the event of postoperative rotation. The correlation between postoperative rotation and the following parameters will be determined: PEXS, white-to-white, age, axial length, anterior chamber depth. Visual acuities with and without correction and the best refraction to assess the benefit of the implants will also be investigated.
