NCT02808416
Cancer patients with brain metastases (BM) have poor prognosis. Current treatments produce limited efficacy. Recent advance in cancer immunotherapy has provided important new means to treat cancer patients at advanced stages. This study is designed to perform a clinical trial to treat advanced caner patients with brain metastases with personalized dendritic cell-based cellular vaccines. The patients will receive vaccines consisting of mRNA tumor antigen pulsed DCs. Immune response to the immunized tumor antigens will be monitored. Safety and efficacy will be observed in this study.
NCT04525456
Reduxium is a dietary supplement that provides immune support. This natural compound is orally-ingested in the form of droplets in water to boost the immune system and control inflammation. There is not enough data on the mechanism associated with the action of Reduxium or the extent of the immune response increase it produces. In this study, the investigators propose treating a group of healthy volunteers with Reduxium and investigate the utility of this approach in boosting the native and adaptive immune responses that correlate with immune protection. This may form the basis for a future study employing the product in infectious disease patients.
NCT05386953
The investigators attempted to investigate the association of the type of crystalloid administered during liver transplantation with postoperative clinical outcomes. The investigators hypothesized that the greater amount of normal saline or half-saline administered during liver transplantation might be associated with the increased risk of acute kidney injury compared to the balanced crystalloids.
NCT05095012
The project encompasses the development and implementation of an acute care, pediatric concussion clinical pathway at 5 pediatric emergency departments in the province of Alberta (Canada).
NCT04234893

This study was a randomized controlled trial. Swimmers was divided in two groups; eccentric ankle muscle-strengthening exercises and control group. The outcome measures were strength of plantar flexors, dorsal flexors, internal rotators, external rotators and 5-meter underwater dolphin kick time.
NCT03726073
Postoperative delirium is with increased incidence in elderly patients. Previous studies have shown that acupuncture related techniques could induce protection against brain ischemia and improve outcome after cerebral diseases. In this study the effect of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation combined with auricular acupressure on postoperative delirium will be evaluated.
NCT04189562
This study will assess the efficacy of the text messaging (SMS-based) disease management intervention for children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) using the timeliness of stimulant prescription renewals over a 9-month period. Parents of participants in the study will receive customized text messages once a day, Sunday through Friday, for a duration of 9 months. The text messages will include reminders to adhere to the individualized medication regimen, reminders to call their child's clinician for a prescription refill followed by reminders to pick up medication from the pharmacy, and educational reminders about ADHD and its treatment.
NCT04919733
CIED implants require different amounts of fluoroscopy; using 3-D mapping systems, these times could be reduced to near zero fluoroscopy. The investigators aim to describe to what extent fluoroscopy times are reduced on a routine basis on CIED implants
NCT05392478
A total of 40 ASA (American Society of Anesthesiology) physical status I-III who underwent lumbar disc hernia repair for one or two levels were included in this prospective study. A standard anesthesia protocol was performed in all patients. Routine intraoperative monitoring consisted of electrocardiography, automatic noninvasive arterial blood pressure, pulse oximetry, capnography, and cerebral tissue oxygen saturation through NIRS.Patients' demographics such as age, gender, height, weight, BMI, smoking status and pre-existing medical conditions were recorded. The patients were allocated equally to two groups according to BMI as Group I: BMI ≥30kg/m2,Group II \<30 kg/m2.
NCT05393544
The aims of this proof-of-concept study are to determine the feasibility of 1) using a smartphone app ("Lifeguard") to facilitate engagement with a peer recovery coach, 2) monitoring post-detox using a modified Brief Addiction Monitor, and 3) assessing linkage to care post-detox.
NCT05210205
Soldiers commonly lose muscle mass during training and combat operations that produce large energy deficits (i.e., calories burned \> calories consumed). Developing new combat ration products that increase energy intake (i.e., energy dense foods) or the amount and quality of protein consumed (i.e., essential amino acid \[EAA\] content) may prevent muscle breakdown and stimulate muscle repair and muscle maintenance during unavoidable energy deficit. The primary objective of this study is to determine the effects of prototype recovery food products that are energy dense or that provide increased amounts of EAAs (anabolic component of dietary protein) on energy balance, whole-body net protein balance, and indices of physiological status during strenuous winter military training.
NCT05067829
With the prolongation of life expectancy, the frequency of surgical intervention and anesthesia increases in elderly patients. The rapid Sequence Intubation(RSI) technique is preferred in patients with aspiration risk and who will undergo general anesthesia, especially in the pandemic period, to reduce or eliminate the aerosolization of respiratory secretions. The use of rocuronium at a dose of 1 mg/kg in RSI also causes prolongation of the recovery of neuromuscular block. This study aimed to compare the intubation conditions and train-of-four count(TOFC) 1-2 times of the rocuronium doses with priming according to ideal body weight(IBW), corrected body weight(CBW), and total body weight(TBW) in RSI of patients aged \>65 years.
NCT05393349
Objective: To study whether fracture hip patients can be benefited from the empowerment program Hypothesis to be tested Primary hypothesis: empowerment program can improve the patient's functional recovery. Secondary hypothesis: the program can improve readmission rate, length of stay, and secondary fracture. Design and subjects This is a prospective randomised controlled trial and subjects are fracture hip patients Instruments Ipads are needed to show the videos of the rehabilitation program Interventions The empowerment program consists of three main areas which directly correspond to the contents that the patients and caregivers expressed as most needed in interviews conducted by the investigators during hip fracture patients' follow up: * Knowledge of the disease * Confidence and skills in self-care management * Support in the post-discharge period Main outcome measures Primary outcomes: Functional scores (Modified Barthel Index and EQ-5D-5L) at the first follow-up visit (3 months postop). Timed-up-and-go test at follow-up at 6 months and 1 year. Secondary outcome: Cumulative readmission rates at 1 month, 6 months, and 1 year The length of stay in the convalescent hospital Subsequent injury with fractures within 1 year Data analysis Chi-square test is used for categorical variables. For continuous variables, the normal distribution is determined by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Independent t-test is used for comparing average values of normally distributed continuous variables, while the Wilcoxon rank sum test is used for comparing median values of abnormally distributed variables. Binary logistic regression is used to determine predictive factors for outcomes. Multivariate analysis is performed to verify independent predictive factors for outcomes. Expected results Fracture hip patients can be benefited from the empowerment program.

NCT02003742
The purpose of the this international, multicenter, randomised, single-blind, parallel group, Phase III study is to demonstrate that a single transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided intraprostatic injection of NX-1207 provides a long lasting therapeutic improvement of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) in patients not adequately controlled by medical therapy with α-blockers, as assessed by a change from baseline in the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) total score.
NCT02829970
There are currently no published randomized controlled studies examining psychosocial interventions for college students with ADHD, and none specifically targeting AUDs in this population at any age, despite the clear indication from emerging research of the need for such interventions. In the current study, the investigators will develop BA-based treatment intended to increase involvement in healthy, goal-directed activities (e.g., academic, recreational or social activities) and to reduce problematic drinking behaviors and other risk behaviors (e.g., unsafe sex) among college students with ADHD (Behavioral Activation for Attention \& Alcohol Disorders; BAAAD). Finalized treatment manuals, altered based on focus group feedback, will be tested in a stage I randomized controlled trial (RCT) among 80 college students randomized to BMI + BAAAD or BMI + supportive counseling (SC). The investigators expect that BMI + BAAAD will be successful with college students with ADHD, in terms of decreasing the escalation of problematic alcohol use behaviors, as compared to BMI + SC. This treatment development study will set the stage for larger-scale RCTs.
