EYESTAR 900 is a device developed by Haag-Streit which utilises 3D OCT for quantitative measurements of the geometry of the entire eye, including ocular biometry and corneal topography. It is the most recent in a series of successful biometry devices by Haag-Streit (HS Pachymeter, Lenstar LS 900, LS 900 T-cone and LS 900 APS) and also allows for advanced corneal tomography examinations. The EYESTAR 900 is CE marked. These measurement results of this device are used for the planning of the medical treatment of patients. Depending on the application, the benefits of this device may include improved visual acuity (after cataract surgery), reduced risk of complications (after refractive surgery or implant of a phakic intraocular lens), early identification of pathological deformations of the cornea (keratoconus detection). The primary objective of this clinical trial is to assess the clinical performance of the investigational device in dense cataracts. To that end, for each measurand, the in-vivo repeatability will be quantified, as well as limits of agreement and the mean measurement deviation, with respect to the current gold standard device. As a secondary objective of the study, raw measurement data will be collected to allow for the improvement of existing algorithms, development of additional measurands and for retrospective analysis. No diseases are studied.

A series of N-of-1 trials will be used to determine the effectiveness of a specific carbohydrate diet (SCD) versus a modified SCD in patients in reducing symptoms and inflammatory burden at both the individual and population level. This is a four-year study. The study staff will recruit up to 60 patients across up to 21 sites in patients aged 7-18 with mild to moderate disease activity.

The purpose of the study is to compare the effects of routine physical therapy with and without core stability exercises on pain and range of motion, in patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome. The spine, abdominal region, pelvis, hips, and proximal lower extremities, are defined as the core of the body. The effects of core muscle strengthening have been proven as an effective method of management in various cases. The knee is the frequently injured joint in core instability with the decreased hip strength. Deficiency in the control of the neuromuscular system of the body's trunk or "core" may affect the stability of the lower extremity, which can lead to injury in the tibiofemoral or patellofemoral joints.

Chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy is common in tumor patients receiving chemotherapy. Nowaday, CIPN is mainly treated with drugs, but the therapeutic effect is not satisfactory. Previous studies have found that inflammatory immune mechanism plays an important role in neuropathic pain. Vagus nerve stimulation can not only relieve pain by regulating the autonomic nervous system, but also participate in the immune response. Investigators hope that the treatment by vagus nerve electrical stimulation through ear skin can improve the pain and neurotoxicity scores of CIPN patient.If it is proved that vagus nerve stimulation can effectively treat CIPN, it will become a simple and safe non-drug treatment which has good application prospects.

Postoperative pain control is a significant challenge in medical practice. Inadequate pain control could decrease patient's satisfaction, delay postoperative ambulation, increase the incidence of pulmonary and cardiac complications and cause the development of chronic postoperative pain. Laparoscopic surgical techniques could decrease postoperative pain and opioid consumption. The addition of regional techniques to general anesthesia showed better pain management and less consumption of opioids compared to the traditional techniques. The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness of ultrasound guided erector spinae plane block versus quadratus lumborum block regarding postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.

Patients with respiratory failure have high morbidity and mortality. Long-term mechanical ventilation causes a high medical burden and cannot cure respiratory failure. Therefore, in-depth research on early weaning and oxygen therapy nursing mode is needed. Currently, studies on artificial airway high-flow oxygen therapy are limited. Studies have reported that oxygen inhalation devices that increase expiratory resistance produce flow-dependent positive airway pressure and lung volume effects that improve oxygenation and ventilation. It means that the innovation of oxygen therapy device may be a change The key to improving lung function and reducing mechanical ventilation in patients with respiratory failure. The project team is committed to the innovation of high-flow oxygen therapy devices and the research on oxygen therapy care. In the early stage, the "New Artificial Airway High Flow Oxygen Therapy Device" was designed (NTHF), in 2018, the new technology and new projects were declared and approved to solve the problem of the flow rate of oxygen therapy devices. In the pre-test, 78 tracheotomy patients were observed using NTHF and respiratory humidification therapy device (AIRVOTM2 ) with high-flow oxygen therapy. As a result, NTHF was superior to AIRVOTM2 in improving airway humidification, oxygenation effect and cost, and published an article, which was approved in 2019 "Non-inferiority of humidification performance of a novel high-flow oxygen therapy device in oxygen therapy for tracheostomy-off-weaned patients. In 2021, it will be approved for the promotion of appropriate technologies for health and health in Guangdong Province. People of all ages are affected by intestinal parasitic infections(IPIs) ; however, children are the most commonly affected, which is linked to their poor hygienic practices, and weak immune status. In children, IPIs are associated with malabsorption, weight loss, anemia, poor growth rate, learning difficulties, mental retardation and intellectual problems . The difficulty of diagnosis is the main problem in the control of intestinal parasitic infections. The choice of a particular technique is usually influenced by affordability, simplicity, cost, sensitivity in addition to the level of technical skills involved. Microscopic examination remains the cornerstone of parasitological diagnosis which is time consuming and requires an experienced observer to identify the organism. Formalin-ether sedimentation technique is commonly used in laboratories owing to its ability to isolate a large variety of parasites. However, it's a labor intensive procedure and is usually associated with hazards of using the inflammable lipid solvents. The drawbacks of the previous techniques have encouraged the development of commercial products such as Feconomics which is a new ready to use kit for concentration of stool samples in parasitological diagnosis. The aim of the study is : evaluation of the efficacy of Feconomics technique in comparison to traditional techniques i.e., direct smear and formalin ethyl acetate sedimentation technique for the diagnosis of intestinal parasites in school children.

The primary objective is to determine possible implications of deviant tear film quality for optimal refractive precision in patients scheduled for cataract surgery. The study consist of three separate arms where cataract patients will be separated in to Dry Eye Disease (DED) positive and negative groups. The DED positive group will be further subdivided into two different treatment groups (with focus on prolonged use of lubricant and preservative free eye drops). Tear film samples will be taken before treatment, after treatment and after surgical treatment and compared.

Determination of fetal head position during labour is highly subjective and depends on clinician's experience in vaginal digital examination. Monitoring the progress of labour with intrapartum ultrasound (IU) exhibits higher accuracy rates. However, the dynamic process of labour needs very frequent sonographic examination and that may decrease the feasibility. Consultation to IU at certain time points can positively limit the need for ultrasound, increase the effectiveness of IU and allow for safer labour in consistency with traditional labour management. This study aims to investigate the use of IU in cases with suspected and diagnosed labour arrest in both the first and second stage of labour.

Recent studies indicate that anti-factor-Xa inhibition with low-dose rivaroxaban may have a role in the reduction of ischemic recurrences in patients with atherosclerotic disease manifestations. To date there is very little data, and not conducted in human subjects, on the interplay between anti-Xa blockade with low-dose rivaroxaban and antiplatelet therapies, and in particular how this affects profiles of platelet reactivity and thrombin generation. Given the potential role for the use of low-dose rivaroxaban for the prevention of ischemic recurrences in patients with atherothrombotic disease manifestations, including coronary artery disease (CAD) and peripheral arterial disease (PAD), the study team proposes a prospective pharmacodynamic (PD) investigation assessing the impact of low-dose rivaroxaban when used in combination with antiplatelet treatment regimens commonly used in clinical practice.

The purpose of this clinical investigation is to evaluate the performance and safety of the HeartMate 3 Left Ventricular Assist System (HM3 LVAS) To support obtaining CE Mark for the HM3 LVAS in Europe, a multi-center clinical study will be conducted in multiple countries. The clinical study will be conducted in compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki, ICH/GCP and EN ISO 14155:2011 Requirements for Clinical Investigations and in accordance with country-specific requirements, under one clinical study protocol. This study will evaluate the performance of the HM3 LVAS, side effects and undesirable conditions within acceptable risks and weigh them against the intended performance of HM3 LVAS in accordance with Essential Requirements 2, 5 and 16 of the Active Implantable Medical Device Directive 90/385/EEC (AIMDD).

Brachial plexus neuropathies, specifically of the median, radial, ulnar, suprascapular, axillary and dorsal scapular nerves, can arise when a peripheral nerve trunk or nerve root is subjected to injury, compression, inflammation or ischemia, resulting in reduced physical capabilities of the peripheral nervous system. Although pharmacological treatments provide mild symptomatic relief in the short term, they are not without side effects. Neurostimulation techniques may be an effective treatment option for peripheral brachial plexus neuropathies. Some of these procedures are transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) or percutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (PENS). Although some case series have documented a positive effect in relation to ultrasound-guided PENS for subjects with subacromial pain syndrome or postsurgical pain, the lack of studies, to our knowledge, analyzing the effects of percutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, in relation to pain and paresthesias in subjects with brachial plexus neuropathy, warrants investigation for this goal.
