NCT00487656
The purpose of this study is to see if ART-123 (recombinant human soluble thrombomodulin) decreases the number of people who die as a result of Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) complication of sepsis.
NCT01250561
The addition of gabapentin therapy to standard antiviral treatment with valacyclovir in acute herpes zoster patients will decrease the incidence of post-herpetic neuralgia.
NCT00167505
This study will evaluate the efficacy of two curricula relative to standard care. The first is a sexual risk avoidance curriculum for middle school students that included abstinence until marriage and complies with Title V Section 510 A-H abstinence education requirements. The second is a sexual risk reduction curriculum for middle school students that included abstinence and condom/contraceptive information and skills. Each intervention consists of an age-appropriate classroom curriculum and a CD-ROM-based tailored intervention delivered in 7th and 8th grade. The overall goal of the study is to identify common elements of effective sexuality education curricula that will be of benefit to youth.
NCT00837382
Many service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan have difficulties adjusting back to civilian life. Research shows that symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are particularly high in returning Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF)/Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) veterans, and that combat-related nightmares and sleep disturbances are common in veterans with PTSD. This is of concern because people with these problems will often use unhealthy ways of coping. Although combat-related nightmares and difficulty sleeping are highly distressing, there are helpful treatments that do not involve taking medication. One of these treatments teaches specific skills to help people improve their sleep habits and to change their nightmares so that they are less upsetting. This treatment can be very helpful and research shows that people experience decreases in the frequency and severity of their nightmares, decreased symptoms of depression and PTSD, and improved sleep quality and quantity after completing treatment. However, because this treatment has only been studied with civilians, it is not clear how well this treatment works for returning veterans. This study tests how well this treatment works in treating combat nightmares in veterans who also have PTSD from experiencing a traumatic event.
NCT00536016
The purpose of this study is to determine the way and rate that the study medication, JSM6427 a potent, highly specific integrin α5β1-antagonist is absorbed, broken-down and eliminated from the body when it is given as a single dosage strength by injection into the eye. Repeated dosages will also be given to determine the highest safe dose.
NCT00375934
A multicenter study to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of XP21L in subjects with pain following bunionectomy surgery.
NCT00118742
This two-arm study will assess the efficacy and safety of a long-term calcineurin inhibitor-free maintenance regimen with CellCept and sirolimus in recipients of an orthotropic liver transplant. Patients will be randomized to receive either CellCept 1-1.5 g twice daily (BID) + tacrolimus + cyclosporine, or CellCept 1-1.5 g BID + sirolimus. The anticipated time on study treatment is 1 to 2 years, and the target sample size is 100 to 500 individuals.
NCT00099528
The purpose of this study is to gain initial safety and efficacy data on the experimental agent REN-1654 in patients with painful post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).
NCT00605176
The purpose of this study is to determine whether imiquimod creams are effective in treating Actinic Keratoses when applied to the face or balding scalp. Actinic keratosis (AK) is a skin condition that shows up on skin routinely exposed to the sun, such as the face, scalp, shoulders, chest, back, arms, and hands. The active ingredient contained in the study cream for this study is the same as that of the approved product Aldara, which has been shown to be safe and effective for the treatment of AKs.
NCT00383370
To assess the safety and tolerability of repeated intravitreal (ITV) administration of VEGF Trap.
NCT00410579
RATIONALE: Learning about quality of life, symptoms, and health behaviors in colorectal cancer survivors may help to determine the long-term effects of colon and rectal cancer treatments and may help to improve the quality of life for future cancer survivors. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is looking at patient-reported outcomes in long-term survivors of colon and rectal cancers.
NCT00679445
The objective of this clinical study is to evaluate the safety and feasibility of focal delivery of radiation for the treatment of subfoveal choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in patients with age related macular degeneration that have failed Primary Anti-VEGF therapy.
NCT01318226
This is a Phase 2 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multiple-dose, multicenter, parallel-group study to evaluate the analgesic activity of ATx08-001, a novel selective peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor modulator (SPPARM), in subjects with moderate-to-severe postherpetic neuralgia pain. Eligible subjects will be randomized to receive either placebo or Atx08-001. Study drug will be administered orally twice a day for 7 days. Subjects will be evaluated for neuropathic pain intensity at regular intervals over a 6 hour period on Day 1 following the first dose of study drug. They will then be discharged from the clinic and will complete diary assessments of pain severity twice a day at home. Subjects will be asked to return to the clinic on Day 8 to complete their last set of pain evaluations.
NCT01170611
This clinical investigation is a prospective, single-blinded, randomized trial. The primary objective concerns the safety and effectiveness of the AAIsafeR mode with the preventive algorithms.
NCT00888745
This is a Phase I multicenter study that will be conducted in the United States and Europe.
NCT01201668
The purpose of this study is to document by survey the occurence of tooth pain present 3 months and 6 months after root canal therapy in the patients recruited for the DPBRN "Peri-operative tooth pain" study. This study will access the feasibility of obtaining 3 month and 6 month follow-up data on the patient enrolled in the DPBRN "Peri-operative tooth pain" study.
NCT01201681
The purpose of this study is to identify pre-operative factors that put patients at greater risk of developing severe tooth pain following root canal therapy, thereby providing evidence that will allow dentists to act preventively to lessen this risk, improve pain control, increase their patients' quality of life, and decrease the number of dental emergency interactions. A parallel goal of this study is to assess the feasibility of recruiting dentists that provide root canal therapy and patients using the DPBRN.
NCT01056848
To evaluate the overall safety and continued efficacy of oral lixivaptan capsules in subjects with euvolemic and hypervolemic hyponatremia
NCT00002472
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of cisplatin and etoposide in treating patients with CNS tumors.
NCT00907803
The purpose of this study was to assess the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of two clinical doses of the anti-orthopoxvirus drug, ST-246, administered as a single daily oral dose for 14 days to healthy, fed volunteers. The results of this trial determine which dose will be used in expanded pivotal safety trials.
