NCT06570824
The proposed study investigates the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) as a treatment for levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) in Parkinson's Disease (PD). Specifically, the study aims to determine whether patterned stimulation of the pre-supplementary motor area (pre-SMA) can delay the onset of LID after levodopa intake and reduce LID severity in PD patients. This study will provide critical insights into potential targets for rTMS treatment, optimal rTMS parameters, and the mechanisms underlying LID in Parkinson's disease.
NCT05754086
Articulatory deficits are present in most speakers with dysarthria, which negatively impacts their speech intelligibility, yet little is known about the relationship between articulatory movement and speech intelligibility. This study will examine the relationship between articulation measures, both acoustic and kinematic, and their relationship to perceptual measures (i.e., speech intelligibility and articulation ratings) in 30 individuals with dysarthria secondary to Parkinson's disease and 30 neurologically healthy adults of the same age. The findings will have implications for behavioral management.
NCT06570421
This study investigates the long-term safety and tolerability of home peroneal eTNM® therapy using the URIS I™ device in subjects with Parkinson's disease (PD) or Essential Tremor (ET). Previously, a 6-week open-label pilot study with 24 PD or ET patients demonstrated that home-based peroneal eTNM® is safe, well-tolerated, and has a high adherence rate of over 90%. No treatment-related adverse events were observed. Although the pilot study was not designed to prove efficacy, it suggested positive effects on tremor, with improvements sustained for weeks after treatment. This extension study aims to further evaluate the long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy of peroneal eTNM® in PD and ET patients.
