RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood in the laboratory from patients with cancer may help doctors learn more about nausea and vomiting caused by cancer treatment. PURPOSE: This laboratory study is looking at blood samples from patients with cancer who were treated on a clinical trial to control nausea and vomiting during donor stem cell transplant.

Study of Tumor Tissue Samples From Patients Who Have Undergone Surgery for Advanced Stage III or Stage IV Ovarian Epithelial Cancer

This research study is looking at tumor tissue samples from patients who have undergone surgery for advanced stage III or stage IV ovarian epithelial cancer. Studying samples of tumor tissue from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn how tumor infiltrating T cells can predict how patients will respond to treatment.

Talazoparib in Treating Patients With Advanced or Metastatic Solid Tumors That Cannot Be Removed by Surgery and Liver or Kidney Dysfunction

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of talazoparib in treating patients with solid tumors that have spread to other places in the body and usually cannot be cured or controlled with treatment (advanced) or have spread to other places in the body (metastatic) and cannot be removed by surgery and liver or kidney dysfunction. Talazoparib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.
