NCT00377637
This 2 arm study assessed the efficacy of Mycophenolate Mofetil (MMF; CellCept) compared to cyclophosphamide in inducing a response in patients with lupus nephritis, and the long term efficacy of MMF compared to azathioprine in maintaining remission and renal function. Patients were randomized to receive either MMF (1.5 g twice daily \[bid\]) or cyclophosphamide (0.5-1.0 g/m\^2 in monthly pulses) in the induction phase. Those patients meeting criteria for response were re-randomized for entry into the maintenance phase, to receive either MMF (1 g bid) or azathioprine (2 mg/kg/day).

NCT01002625
PF-04457845 has been shown to temporarily decrease the dream (REM) period of sleep in rats, which suggests that PF-04457845 is active in rat's brains. This study is designed to see whether this is also the case in man.
NCT00972075
The aim of this placebo-controlled randomized study was to evaluate the efficacy of Circadin™ 2 mg in improving total night sleep duration and stabilizing the circadian clock phase in totally blind subjects with non-24 hour sleep-wake disorder.
NCT00297284
This study is being conducted in order to determine if the FDA-approved drug Modafinil can improve cognitive function in patients with lupus. Modafinil is currently being used to treat excessive sleepiness caused by certain sleep disorders. It has also been shown to improve attention and concentration in some people who don't have lupus or sleep disorders. This study hopes to determine if Modafinil can be used safely and effectively in lupus patients, and improve their quality of life. No medications currently exist for the treatment of lupus-associated cognitive dysfunction.
NCT00401284
The purpose of this study is to determine whether a compound known as EVT 201 is effective in treating elderly patients diagnosed with primary insomnia who also have moderate daytime sleepiness.
NCT00123214
The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not a low calorie, low glycemic index diet with omega-3 fatty acid supplements can prevent some of the negative consequences of sleep deprivation.
NCT00004569
The diagnosis and treatment of sleep disordered breathing have come to the forefront of clinical medicine following recognition of the high prevalence and associated morbidity of sleep apnea. The effects on quality of life as well as societal costs have been well documented. The NYU Sleep Research Laboratory has spent the last several years working on the problem of improving the diagnosis of mild sleep disordered breathing which manifests as the upper airway resistance syndrome. Our approach has been to develop a non-invasive technique to detect increased upper airway resistance directly from analysis of the airflow signal. A characteristic intermittent change of the inspiratory flow contour, which is indicative of the occurrence of flow limitation, correlates well with increased airway resistance. Currently all respiratory events are identified manually and totaled. This is time consuming and subject to variability. The objective of the present project is to improve upon the manual approach by implementing an artificially intelligent system for the identification and quantification of sleep disordered breathing based solely on non-invasive cardiopulmonary signals collected during a routine sleep study. The utility of other reported indices of sleep disordered breathing obtained during a sleep study will be evaluated. Successful development of an automated system that can identify and classify upper airway resistance events will simplify, standardize and improve the diagnosis of sleep disordered breathing, and greatly facilitate research and clinical work in this area. Using a physiological based determination of disease should allow better assessment of treatment responses in mild disease.
NCT00006133
OBJECTIVES: I. Determine the effect of oral contraceptives containing low-dose synthetic estrogens and progestins on disease activity in premenopausal women with inactive, stable, or moderate systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). II. Determine the effect of hormone replacement therapy with conjugated estrogens and progestins on disease activity in postmenopausal women with inactive, stable, or moderate SLE.
NCT00671086
The purpose of this study is to determine the long-term safety of Ramelteon, once daily (QD), in subjects with chronic insomnia.
NCT00053560
The purpose of this clinical trial is to study the effects of GL701 on bone mineral density in women with active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who are also receiving treatment with glucocorticoids (e.g., prednisone).
NCT00800397
Medical literature has shown that 1 out of 2 patients that are admitted to the hospital as a cardiac patient, will be found suffering from sleep breathing disorders. The medical literature also shows that there is an advantage of treating the sleep breathing disorders in addition to treating the cardiac disease or evaluating the heart failure condition to provide better clinical outcomes.this study is evaluating the ability to detect sleep and cardiac related breathing disordered.
NCT00913614
Given the potential age-related differences in safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and differences in sleep architecture in young children versus adolescent versus adult, studies to identify the appropriate drug and dosage for children of all ages are essential in addressing this health problem that impacts the child and their family. The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetics and preliminary efficacy of eplivanserin. Primary objective: to assess the safety and tolerability after administration of single ascending oral doses of eplivanserin to children aged 6-17 years with insomnia of various origins. To assess the pharmacokinetics of eplivanserin (and active metabolite: SR141342) after administration of single ascending oral doses of eplivanserin to children aged 6-17 years with insomnia of various origins. Secondary objective: to assess the effect of single ascending oral doses of eplivanserin on global sleep parameters and sleep architecture measured via polysomnography recordings in children aged 6-17 years old with insomnia of various origins.
NCT00253903
The purpose of the study is to assess efficacy and safety of eplivanserin in the population of patients complaining of sleep maintenance insomnia. The patients suffering from that condition frequently wake up during the night, their sleep is nonrestorative and they suffer from a significant distress or impairment in their daily activities consecutive to insomnia.
NCT00630175
The primary objective is to evaluate the hypnotic efficacy of zolpidem-MR (modified release) 12.5 mg and zolpidem 10 mg marketed product in comparison with placebo in patients with primary insomnia and sleep maintenance difficulties, using polysomnography (PSG) recordings and patient sleep questionnaires. The secondary objective is to evaluate the clinical safety and tolerability of zolpidem-MR 12.5 mg and zolpidem 10 mg marketed product in comparison with placebo.

NCT00428597
This study randomized patients with advanced pancreatic islet cell tumors to receive either sunitinib or placebo. Patients who were randomized to sunitinib received 37.5 mg of sunitinib daily, those randomized to placebo received a tablet that looked similar but had no active drug. Neither the patient or the doctor knew whether the patient was receiving sunitinib or placebo. Patients were followed to determine the status and size of their tumors, survival, quality of life and safety of the drug. The study was designed to detect a 50% improvement in median PFS\[Progression Free Survival\] with 90% power and was to enroll 340 subjects. An interim analysis was planned when 130 events had occurred, and the final analysis was to be conducted when 260 events had occurred. Study A6181111 was stopped early during the enrollment period because of a clear and clinically meaningful improvement in efficacy for the sunitinib treatment arm as recommended by the DMC \[Data Monitoring Committee\]. The actual number of subjects enrolled was 171 and the actual number of PFS events recorded was 81 PFS events. The decision to terminate the study was not based on safety concerns related to sunitinib administration.
