NCT03419585
Fatigue due to cancer and its treatment (for example, radiation therapy) can interfere with quality of life and can linger long after treatment has ended, yet research examining preventative approaches has produced limited clinical benefit. The proposed study will provide information about systematic light exposure for the prevention of fatigue in prostate cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy and will investigate how it works. This study would facilitate the development of this potential preventative treatment, giving health care providers and cancer survivors a much-needed tool to help with cancer-related fatigue.
NCT04151251
While many interventions have targeted hospital staff to improve sleep, few have been successful, and often suffer from limited adherence to staff protocols. Given preliminary data that suggests that empowered patients are more likely to obtain better sleep and have objectively lower noise levels in their rooms, it is plausible that partnering directly with patients can mitigate sleep loss and improve health outcomes. Patients will be randomized to receive the I-SLEEP education and empowerment program and test the effectiveness of this program on patient sleep and health outcome in the hospital and post-discharge. The aim of the project is to reduce environmental, healthcare-related, and patient-related factors that disrupt sleep of hospitalized patients by use of patient education and empowerment intervention.
NCT04378933
The purpose of this study is to determine if evening amber glasses combined with stable wake times will show an increase in total sleep time (TST) and an advance in sleep onset times (shift earlier) compared to the control group.
