•Patients 18 - 60 years of age
•Either male or female gender and
•Planned to undergo emergency laparotomy

Exclusion Criteria

•Patients undergoing second laparotomy
•Re- laparotomy
•On steroid therapy and
•Patients who die within 28-days of surgery
