•Accepted for an elective thoracic cardiovascular surgical procedure requiring cardiopulmonary bypass
•\>18 years old

Exclusion Criteria

•Present and severe symptoms from the gastrointestinal tract
•Previous major/extensive abdominal surgery
•Presence of astomy
