The purpose of this study is to compare the effectiveness of two different online education courses (Oxford-Online and Mind-Online) for preventing stress related conditions among paramedics who have been working during a period of COVID-19 occurrence in Singapore. The study aims to: * Compare the efficacy of a locally-adapted version of internet-delivered cognitive training for resilience (Oxford Online) to an existing educational online training (Mind Online) on depressive symptom severity * Compare the efficacy of Oxford Online to Mind Online for improving posttraumatic stress symptoms, resilience, general psychological distress, anxiety symptoms, social support, work engagement, and health-related quality of life Participants will: * Complete an online battery of baseline questionnaires * Be randomised to receive 6 modules of either Oxford Online or Mind Online, delivered once per week over a 6-week period * Complete the same online questionnaire battery immediately following the intervention, and again at the 6-month and 12-month follow up

The aim of the study is to test the pilot effectiveness of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) in decreasing psychological distress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms and increasing well-being in earthquake survivors in Türkiye, using randomized controlled trial study design, which is considered the gold standard in research for evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. This pilot study will help to identify any further adaptations required prior to further effectiveness testing in a large cluster randomized controlled trial. Study hypothesis: Hypothesis 1: The participants who receive the CPT will have a significantly higher decrease in PTSD symptoms compared to the participants in the care-as-usual control group at the post-assessment. Hypothesis 2: The participants who receive the CPT will have a significantly higher decrease in depressive symptom severity compared to the participants in the care-as-usual control group at the post-assessment. Hypothesis 4: The participants who receive the CPT will have a significantly higher decrease in anxiety severity compared to the participants in the care-as-usual control group at the post-assessment. Hypothesis 5: The participants who receive the CPT will have a significantly higher increase in well-being compared to the participants in the care-as-usual control group at post-assessment.

This study will aim to test whether specific neural circuitry changes, proposed on the basis of a neurocognitive model of anxiety, are a mechanism of action for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions. This study aims to provide a theoretical model of the neurobiological mechanisms of CBT's therapeutic effect, where there currently is none, and potentially allow for more targeted/specific approaches to anxiety disorders following the identification of key CBT mechanisms. The ultimate aim is to improve the efficacy of CBT, and more generally, psychological interventions for anxiety disorders.

This study aims to assess a mobile iPhone app called MAYA for use in middle-aged and older adults with anxiety or mood disorders. The MAYA app is designed to teach coping skills for anxiety and depression that are drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy. Participants will be asked to use the app for at least two days a week, 20 minutes on each day, for six weeks. Participants will have weekly check-ins as well as longer assessments at the beginning of the study, week 3, week 6 (end of treatment), and week 12 (follow up). During assessments, participants will answer brief questionnaires designed to assess their symptoms and impressions of the app. The main hypotheses of the study are that participants will complete most of the assigned sessions and that they will rate their impressions of the app highly. The secondary hypotheses are that symptoms of depression and anxiety will decrease with use of the MAYA app.

This clinical trial evaluates Appa Health, a mental health smartphone and computer app for teenagers. Appa is built from two components. Component #1 shares short TikTok-style videos with teens to cover techniques from a science-backed mental health treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. These videos are designed by mental health experts and delivered by mental health influencers. Component #2 pairs teens with peer mentors with similar life experiences, who help guide teens through each week's video content. All peer mentors are trained and supervised by licensed mental health experts. The researchers believe Appa Health improves teens' mental health and well-being through teens' strengthened relationships and support from their mentor, as well as through the skills they gain through watching the videos. This study hopes to understand: (1) whether these Appa Health components improve teens' mental health and well-being, (2) how these components might improve teen outcomes, and (3) costs associated with each of these components. To answer these questions, the researchers will compare two versions of Appa support: Appa Complete and Appa Lite. Appa Complete involves pairing teens with mentors and sharing videos. Appa Lite involves only sharing videos with teens. First, the researchers will conduct a small version of this study to test procedures. Seventy-five teenagers (13-18 years old) with high depression or anxiety scores will be randomly given either: Appa Complete (mentoring + videos), Appa Lite (videos only), or a Waiting List Control. Based on the results of this smaller study, the researchers will change study procedures to improve teens' experiences and engagement in this research. After completing this smaller study, the researchers will run a larger version of the same study with 400 more teens. After teens are randomly given Appa Complete, Appa Lite, or a Waiting List Control, the researchers will test whether Appa's two treatment components improve teens' depression, anxiety, well-being, and other related outcomes. The researchers expect both Appa Complete and Appa Lite will improve teens' outcomes more than the Waiting List Control. The researchers also expect Appa Complete will improve teens' outcomes more than Appa Lite. The researchers will also measure costs associated with giving teens both treatment components and use this information to improve Appa's services for future teens.

This project addresses the disproportionate morbidity and mortality associated with mental and behavioral health problems in American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Access to culturally competent and effective behavioral health services is limited in many of these communities. The investigators aim to address this gap by testing the effectiveness of a trans-diagnostic secondary prevention program, Family Spirit Strengths (FSS) that can be embedded within home visiting services. The FSS program is a skills-based program that incorporates elements of evidence-based practice, the Common Elements Treatment Approach (CETA), and materials informed and developed based on an Indigenous advisory group. The FSS program aims to help participants build self-efficacy and coping skills, as well as build stronger connections to others, the participants' community, and cultural resources. The investigators will use a randomized controlled trial, whereby half of the participants will receive FSS and the other half will receive an evidence-based nutrition education program. The investigators' study is grounded in participatory processes and led by a team of Indigenous and allied researchers.

Emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression are significantly underdiagnosed and undertreated, even though they are some of the most prevalent mental health conditions, especially among young individuals. Approximately 50% of mental health disorders manifest by the age of 14, and around 75% appear by the age of 24, underscoring the critical importance of addressing these issues during adolescence. Unfortunately, during this developmental stage, early warning signs and even fully developed clinical conditions often go unnoticed, undiagnosed, and untreated. Nonetheless, there is a lack of established, evidence-backed procedures aimed at reaching out to adolescents at risk of developing emotional disorders. Urgently required is a fundamental shift in our approach by creating intervention protocols that allow for the early identification and treatment of at-risk adolescents, thus averting the potential development of severe mental health disorders as they mature. The selective prevention of mental health issues is a crucial element in assisting at-risk adolescents in flourishing before emotional disorders progress. To address this gap, PROCARE+ was conceived as a modularized selective prevention program for adolescents aged 12 to 18 years. Using a personalized medicine approach, PROCARE+ successfully allowed for the adaptation of intervention protocols according to the specific needs of each individual, while also identifying vulnerable individuals based on risk factors. This research aims to maximize and extend the impact on the adolescent population in the post-COVID-19 pandemic stage and will analyze the effectiveness of implementing booster sessions. PROCARE + stratifies adolescents based on their risk and resilience status and will deliver, alongside a core intervention, new specific add-on modules designed to address risk factors identified by adolescents: : 1) Situations of rejection, bullying, and cyberbullying; 2) Addiction to new technologies such as video games or mobile phones and other substances like alcohol, tobacco, and drugs; 3) Improvement of healthy lifestyle habits related to nutrition, sleep, and physical activity; 4) Enhancement of stress-related situations: Ecoanxiety or exam-related anxiety; and 5) Improvement of parent-child relationships and situations of high expressed emotion (parent module). In addition, the study of booster sessions will be further explored to maintain the results following the initial intervention (which is based on core and additional modules according to identified risk factors). To achieve this, a randomized controlled trial with three conditions will be conducted. Adolescents will be assigned to different experimental groups with or without booster sessions in order to increase the effectiveness of the intervention. The objective is to reduce the impact of risk factors and enhance protective factors, ultimately leading to lasting positive outcomes for adolescents. It will combine quantitative analyses, with a special focus on vulnerable groups in a disaggregated approach by sex, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. The PROCARE project is expected to have a significant impact. Its outcomes will continue to contribute to the identification and preventive treatment of adolescents at risk of emotional mental disorders at an early stage, before they incur personal, social, and economic costs. This aims to provide new data to help improve personalized preventive medicine. It will be designed to be an acceptable, scalable, and sustainable selective prevention program, striving to increase its effectiveness beyond the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately contributing to the prevention and reduction of the prevalence of mental disorders in young people.

This study aims to examine different ways of motivating people to make use of Maya, a mobile cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) program for adolescents and young adults experiencing anxiety symptoms, and to assess whether social supports are as efficacious, or more efficacious, than other non-monetary incentives. Subjects will use the Maya app for at least 20 minutes per day, 2 days per week, for 6 weeks. Assessments will include a weekly check in with a member of the research team, questionnaires, and an optional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) recording.

The aim of this project is to determine the effect of mindfulness practice to cope with dysmenorrhea on pain and anxiety levels. The project will be carried out in a semi-randomized controlled manner. It will be applied to 100 students with dysmenorrhea (100 students by increasing by 10%, taking into account the losses that may occur in the 90 students determined in the sample calculation). Students who meet the inclusion criteria and approve of participating in the project will be given a pre-test before the application. 'Introductory Information Form', 'VAS Scale' and 'State and Trait Anxiety Scale' will be used in the pre-test. After the pre-test, mindfulness practice will be applied for 8 weeks (1 day/120 minutes per week). At the end of 8 weeks, an intermediate test will be performed in the first 3 days of the first menstrual cycle. After the mid-term test, students will practice mindfulness on their own with the brochures provided. Motivational messages will be sent to students for mindfulness practice, starting 3 days before their cycle. The final test will be administered 3 months after the intermediate test. 'VAS Scale' and 'State and Trait Anxiety Scale' will be used in the mid-test and post-test.

The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to examine the effects of a walking intervention (3 walks per week for a period of 4 weeks) in a nature vs. urban setting on the wellbeing of young adult postsecondary students. We will examine changes in positive and negative affect for participants assigned to the nature condition vs those assigned to the urban condition (primary outcome). We will also examine changes in reported depression and anxiety symptoms, perceived stress levels, sleep quality, mindfulness and wellbeing (secondary outcome).

Super Skills for Life (SSL) is a transdiagnostic cognitive-behavioral protocol developed for children aged 6 to 12 with anxiety and comorbid problems (e.g., depression, low self-esteem, and lack of social skills). SSL consists of eight sessions targeting common risk factors for internalizing disorders such as cognitive distortions, avoidance, emotional management, low self-esteem, social skills deficits and coping strategies. The aim of the study is to investigate the short- and long-term effects of SSL on internalizing and externalizing symptoms in Spanish children attending the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

Despite considerable, replicated evidence of the efficacy and effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy, there is an insufficient number of professionals (e.g., psychologists, psychiatrists) in North America to provide evidence-based psychotherapy to all who need it. For example, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a greater need for resources that are scalable to help a large portion of the public to manage anxiety and attendant psychological distress. One promising avenue to increase the availability of evidence-based mental healthcare relies on technological developments, such as smartphone-enabled apps, to disseminate principles derived from existing evidence-based psychotherapies. However, further research is needed to understand for whom and in what contexts internet- and smartphone-enabled resources are helpful. The present study will examine the utility of one such smartphone enabled app, MindShift, developed by Anxiety Canada in consultation with Canadian and American experts in evidence-based psychotherapy for anxiety disorders. Specifically, the main aim of the present study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the MindShift app to help users manage anxiety and related psychological distress as compared to anxiety and distress prior to app use. Two secondary, exploratory aims of the present study are to examine possible moderators that indicate for whom or in what contexts use of the MindShift app is particularly helpful. Adult participants 18 years of age and older will be recruited from Canada and the United States of America. Following informed consent, participants will complete baseline assessment of anxiety symptom severity, depressive symptom severity, daily functional impairment, quality of life, alcohol use, use of illicit psychoactive substances, stress associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and demographic information. Following baseline assessment, participants will be instructed in downloading the MindShift app to their personal mobile phone running either iOS or Android OS software. Participants will then use the MindShift app as they choose for the 16-week duration of the study. Finally, participants will be asked to complete follow-up assessments 2, 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks following baseline assessment. Follow-up assessments will assess anxiety symptom severity, depressive symptom severity, functional impairment, and quality of life satisfaction on the same measures administered at baseline.

This is a demonstration project focused on translating neuroscience insights into clinical practice. The researchers will evaluate how neuroscience assessments may be applied in the clinical setting to help inform care decisions. The aim of the study is to undertake a pragmatic pilot trial to assess whether the inclusion of structured feedback from neuroscience assessments has an effect on improving patient outcomes. The study will investigate how neuroscience assessments can be integrated into and improve clinical care. The impact of sharing information and conclusions from these assessments with psychiatric providers will be explored. Outcomes will include symptoms, social/occupational function and qualify of life.
